It's late July, so it must be time for our annual shower census....do tell us about the scented products in your bath or shower! How many scented shower gels and/or bar soaps are in your shower right now? And do tell us the names / products. If you have any great scented products in other categories (hair care?) tell us about those too.
Or, as always, just talk about something else.
After complaining last year that I had only bought one new shower gel all year, I went a little overboard. I currently have 11 (too many to keep in the shower, so they get rotated in and out of a small cabinet next to the shower). Oldies in the mix: Lush Sticky Dates, Lush Mimosa (almost gone), Lush Happy Hippy, Lush Posh Chocolate, Lush Rose Jam, Shikai Yuzu.
Newbies:
Yves Rocher Monoi: a big disappointment and I may throw it away at some point. My niece gave it a try and correctly identified "cheap aftershave".
Yves Rocher Grains de Cafe: a decent butterscotch/caramel and coffee blend that I will use more when it's cold out...it is mostly hanging out in the back of the cabinet with the Sticky Dates, waiting for fall.
Lush Snuggles: a sweet gourmand cocoa butter (it shares its scent with the Butterball bath bomb). I like it but my small bottle will be enough.
Attitude Super Leaves in the Orange Leaves scent: a spur of the moment purchase in a Sprouts market, although later I realized I'd posted the hand soap as a lemming. It is supposed to have orange blossom and eucalyptus, I think, but it smells mostly like orange Pez to me. The consistency is a bit thin, but I love it.
The Crème Shop x Hello Kitty Strawberry Oat Milk: after posting this as a lemming, I went right over to Ulta and bought it. It smells exactly like what you'd expect from a strawberry shower gel in a bright pink Hello Kitty carton, and it will not be a lifelong staple but I have no complaints.
Other fun shower stuff I acquired this year: Roger & Gallet Jean Marie Farina bar soap, and a new tub of Lush Jasmine and Henna (formerly Fluff-Eaze) hair treatment.

I do “ seasonal” rotations in my shower as I’m a little addicted to bath stuff. Right now for summer I have the following:
LUSH Rose Jam shower gel
LUSH Ouddess shower gel (love this)
Byredo Pulp shower gel
Philosophy Senorita Margarita shower gel
Rileyville Lemon Poppyseed soap
I do seasonal stuff too. Some of them work for every season, but not all of them.
Lush has an oud shower gel? I might have to drop in.
It was a LE for Eid.
OOOOOOOOOOH! You have a Byredo Pulp showergel?!?
I’ve had it an embarrassing long time…back when the caps were white. It got lost among the multitudes and was refund this spring.
Refound.
I have a lot but use some far more than others.
– Guerlain Habit Rouge (shower gel + soap)
– Guerlain Shalimar (shower gel + body lotion)
– Hermès Eau d’orange verte (shower gel + body lotion)
– L’Occitane en Provence Almond (shower oil + bath milk + milk concentrate)
– Molton Brown Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel (shower gel)
– Roger & Gallet Cédrat (shower gel)
– Terre d’Hermès (shower gel)
– Yves Rocher Almond Orange Blossom (shower gel + body lotion)
– Yves Rocher Bourbon Vanilla (shower gel + body lotion)
Your list is great!
Thank you!
Some of them are mini and trial size: Eau d’orange verte, Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel, Habit Rouge, and Terre d’Hermès. But I also have full size versions of the last two (HR and TdH) which are still unopened because I keep buying gift sets with the shower gel and using those instead.
I love me a fancy shower gel. Hermes, ooh la la
Hermès recently switched some of their shower gel and body lotion bottles from plastic to glass. I am tempted to get Eau de rhubarbe écarlate for the bottle.
SOTD = 4160 Tuesdays Hush Hush Parfum
As one might expect, this one is the most concentrated of all 3! I love it! So, in order of preference, I would go parfum, EDP, then EDT. They are all good. 💜

I can’t think of a shower gel I recently bought but have, against all that is logical, bought more soaps. I know, right? Most were from the Whole Foods sale and several from Lush. I also bought shampoo / conditioner from the current Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Shampure!
In other news, I have a good balance in my 401(k) which I had contributed to at the max every year. I have opted to keep the balance with my previous employer. I have not rebalanced it (I’m pretty sure I can) and I am now wondering if I should be more active in doing so. Lately, I had been seeing a number of articles on the subject. Do you actively rebalance your portfolio (401(k) or equivalent)? This article is from the New York Times:
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/27/business/401k-mistakes-retirement-savings.html?unlocked_article_code=1.-U0.sQQl.MPWvZ9ddwjZD&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
One thing to keep an eye on, if you’ve left your account with a prior employer, is whether they have removed investment options you were in and replaced them with something different. When employers do that, they might automatically move your money to a replacement option, or they might move it to cash or a money market fund. They should be sending you notices if/when they make changes to investment options.
I do rebalance every so often, as the broad categories get weighted too far away from my target mix. But I’m lazier about it than I should be.
Personally I would roll it into a Vanguard IRA to avoid the issues SheriG mentions and to retain full control. As for rebalancing, I check my account once a year and make changes when needed.
I agree with what others have said. When I retired, I didn’t want past employers to manage my investments so rolled into a self-directed IRA through our financial consultant.
Definitely worth considering rebalancing investments once a year. I used to do that consistently. Not so much during 2023 and 2024, for reasons.
I’m pretty bare bones in the shower, but I do like to have nice soaps. Right now I have Kappus Lilac soap in the shower (because I will soon be able to buy as much of that as I want, no worries about exhausting my supply). But mostly lately I’ve been using Fzotic and Monsillage soaps. I’ve really liked the Monsillage violet and chypre soaps. With Fzotic I have a few bars of his Bouquet Garni, which was a limited edition. I also have a bar of the toasted lilac that I haven’t yet tried.
And I still make my own shaving soap from a base, although I’ve gotten lazy and stopped making my own regular soap lately. My shaving soap currently is “Energy” scented (basically, citrus).
I love the fragrances of the Monsillage soaps, especially the chypre.
Me too i love Monsillage soaps!
Well, my showers a bit smol so when I turn around I generally run into myself. Hence, very limited space for anything other than myself. The only thing I have in there that’s scented is the Tree Hut Vanilla Sugar Scrub, which is a HG product for me. I do have a spray oil from CocoaPink in the Triple Vanilla Dream scent. I ordered several scented body products from them a while back, but was very disappointed because the fragrance is barely discernible. The oil is a great mixture of: almond, coconut, apricot, squalene, and jojoba oil, so is functions great in that respect. Just hardly any scent…so I won’t be repurchasing but will use up what I have.
SOTD is CSP Vanille Apricot because I want something fuss-free and easy.
I guess with your room so limited you might not want more bottles at all, but I doctor poorly scented shower gels with Aura Cacia essential oils.
Just looked them up online and WHOOP! There it is! Another rabbit hole to fall down! I’ve bookmarked it to take the plunge at a later date, thank you! I’m currently lost in a beading rabbit hole and have beads and projects coming out of my ears at the moment, also teaching beading to my neighbor who is a genius quilter. I need more hours in the day (and money in the bank!)….😬
Beads!! I used to bead. I still have boxes of stuff in the basement…want some more beads?
Currently I only have Passage d’Enfer shower gel, but I’m contemplating a purchase of Dove Shea Butter/Vanilla.
If you’re only going to have one, that seems a good choice! I should try it when my Happy Hippy runs out.
Currently in the shower are ShiKai Yuzu shower gel (dregs only, must get more along with their Cucumber something scent one), some very old Vitabath gel that Mr. G got a ton of at Costco, and Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Body Wash in the basil scent — great stuff. Also a bar of Fzotic Bouquet Garni soap. On back order are two more of their soaps, Limonata and Toasted Lilac. On the closet shelf are partial bottles of ShiKai Sandalwood and Demeter Clean Skin shower gels that don’t get a lot of use, and a couple of Molly Muriel soaps (a locally made product here in Portland) that the kids gifted me years ago.
Meanwhile, my SOTM is Tam Dao with a hint of Philosykos over the top — yummy combo.
I buy the gallon refills of the ShiKai yuzu now 🙂
I am getting jealous of everyone’s Fzotic soaps.
His soaps (well, at least the one I have so far) are really good. And gallon-size refills? Sign me up! 😁
I have heard of Shikai yuzu before on here. What is special about it and what does it smell like?
The ShiKai shower gels are a nice consistency and lather and rinse pretty well. The yuzu scent is very citrusy and bright — kind of lemony, but with a bit more bite. Wakes you right up!
Sounds nice.
It is a good citrus and reasonably priced…it also mixes really well with other gels. I tend to mix it with other things that are too sweet. A big glop of ShiKai Yuzu with a little dab of Lush Sticky Dates is just right for me, and it also makes the more expensive Lush stuff last longer. I also use it with Lush Posh Chocolate and Rose Jam.
I just ordered Sticky Dates and Rose Jam so may have to try this too. Enabler pin to you and Sheri.
I recently saw the ShiKai Yuzu and Sandalwood showergels when I was out shopping. Didn’t know which one to get, though.
I have not tried their Sandalwood…
Currently in Jicky edp on my last day at work before vacation. The body stuff I have is Lyric, Epic, and Memoir in soap and body butter. Dia hand soap and hand lotion and the Jubilation 25 body lotion. Coco Mademoiselle and no 5 soap and lotion and all this was bought in more financially stable times. My day to day soap and lotion is the Drunk Elephant stuff. Tad bit expensive for Drunk Elephant but I nab those when Ulta has a point multiplier or a sale.
How did I not know that Amouage had a body/skincare line? Those sound wonderful. (And you smell amazing in Jicky.😊)
The Amouage bath stuff has disappeared and might have been discontinued. I am not sure though.
In the summer, our needs are few. Dove soap bar and a big bottle of Dr Bronners Peppermint Castile soap, diluted by half with water.
My sotd is Zoologist Bee, for the first time this summer. It smells so good and lasts forever
I do like Dr Bronners, I had a big bottle of the lemongrass which I likewise diluted. I should get more.
SOTD Jo Malone Orange 🍊 Marmalade 🐻
Shower:
Trader Joe’s Refresh
Patyka shower oil
Soap my daughter made at a farm wrapped in felt
Gosh, almost never hear of Patyka these days, wonder if they lost their distribution here? Or do you find it in a brick n mortar store?
Currently in the shower is:
A fresh bar of Soap Distillery Honeysuckle Moss that I just opened yesterday
Bath & Body Works White Tea & Ginger Shower Gel (very nostalgic of my late high school and college years)
REN Moroccan Rose Body Wash (had been on my to-try shower gel list the longest and finally bought it last year)
I just finished a sample of Soap Distillery Mint Mojito and still have plenty on deck from them. I like their soaps a lot so I ended up with a soap stash that’s almost exclusively theirs. I also still have two out of the three mini soaps in the set of Fzotic Lilac Toast and a chamomile soap from Black Labdanum that was a freebie when I bought their candles.
The REN body wash is almost gone so I’ll pick from either REN Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium, The Body Shop Moringa, or Bathing Culture Meadow Vision.
As far as shampoo and conditioner, I’m not too far into huge sizes of L’Oreal Elvive Hyaluron Plump. It smells wonderful, but the conditioner is a bit too oil based for my roots. So I have to be careful how much I use and use sparingly or not at all on the top of my head or I’ll look quite oily up there. But I recently cut off a lot of hair (I think 8 inches at least) so I will start to also use some of the shampoo and conditioner samples I’ve accumulated. If I’d used them when my hair was very long I’d maybe only get 1-1.5 uses of the conditioner.
Eight inches is a lot of hair! Is it all one length?
It was basically down to the top of my butt! And pretty much all one length. I got a bit of a layer put in when I got it cut a few weeks ago, and now the longest part is near the bottom of my shoulder blades.
Sounds gorgeous 😊
So you did not love the Ren enough to replace?
I’d say I actually don’t replace most of my shower gels with the exception of Lush. I do like the REN and think it smells very nice and is more of a rich, natural rose than my usual fave Rose Jam. But rose isn’t a favorite note for me even though I love real roses.
It’s also a bit of a splurge for me at $36. I bought mine during a 20% off sale.
That’s a good reason to not replace it! Lush is crazy expensive too though.
It is, but I justify it by buying the smallest size. The smaller size also helps me not get sick of using it like I tend to do with large shower gels. I’m sure addicted to some of the Lush shower gels.
Got a lot of stuff in the bathroom, and some of it is quite old, since I do not use shower products as fast as I used to.
Shower:
Lush Snow Cake 3-layered shower jelly. It has three layers in different scents: marzipan, toffee and cherry. Toffee layer almost finished.
Lush Dirty shower gel – minty summer staple.
Exfoliation:
Q+A Salicylic Acid Body Wash Watermelon + Agave Nectar Scent. The scent is pleasant but unremarkable – generic tropical fruity, in my opinion. Well, the body wash seems to be doing its job, and this is what matters.
Hand soaps:
Lush Outback Mate – another minty summer staple.
Future Primitive Soap Raspberry Lemonade. It does smell like raspberry. Nice.
Face wash:
Andalou Naturals Meyer Lemon + C Creamy Cleanser. A simple lemon scent.
Shampoo:
Several, but the one with an interesting scent is Future Primitive Soap Plumeria. It is a fairly gentle shampoo with a heady tropical floral scent, but I still add some oils before washing my hair with it. Last time I added some lemon essential oil – it works quite well with the original scent.
Body oil:
Phytorelax Laboratories Hemp Multipurpose Dry Oil. Really like the scent – soft herbal-floral.
LUSH Dirty is a wonderful pick for summertime!
Not a lot of shelf room in my shower so it’s kind of minimal.
* Axe shower gel in Skateboards and Fresh Roses (woody rose)
* Axe 3-in-1 (body wash/shampoo/conditioner) in Dark Temptation (Mugler A*Men simplified, lots of chocolate)
* Everyone shower gel in Citrus + Mint (what it says on the label)
* Bilou shower foam (like shave cream only not) in Milky Dream (caramel cream with almond brittle)
And outside the shower are tubs and tubes of body cream, because you get older and, it turns out, time claws away at your skin with its bony fingers and dries you out. Didn’t see that coming. There’s a jar of the old standby Palmer’s Cocoa Butter, a squarish red vat of Revlon Apricot Amber body butter, and (in a drawer to avoid clutter) eight tubes of B&BW body cream in various scents, the standout of which is Peach Bellini (so peachy).
Scent of the day is I Profumi di Firenze Sandalo Misore, rough-edged and compelling. I love it.
P.S. Went to Lush today and they didn’t have any of the new body sprays yet. Will they ever? No idea. Time will tell.
My bathroom is horrible and I don’t use nice shower products ( creamy gels etc.) as they turn the plastic base into a frightening slippery death trap. So I’m sharing a cool photo and story about an elephant seal instead. It’s been living on the beach not far away. It would have swum up from the sub-Antarctic islands most likely, a few days sailing away ( around 600km)
https://www.odt.co.nz/news/dunedin/big-boys-stay-brought-together-%E2%80%98-minded%E2%80%99-people
I love the photo, and it’s a beautiful beach facing the Pacific…next landfall Chile. Wearing La Dolce Vita and planning on going out for a walk, in search of spring sightings….crocus, snowdrops and daffodils
What a handsome guy! The old ones have so many scars. I’m glad he could amuse himself on the beach with the driftwood.
Awww! 🥰 He is cute
What’s in my shower? A persimmon-based shower gel that I bought because their ad made me look up what “nonenal” meant, Weleda Sea Buckthorn body wash, a shampoo that is supposed to enhance the silver in my hair and hasn’t done so, and two hair conditioners, one biotin something and one Kiehl’s.
Today I’m wearing Chypre Mousse and moving stuff off the patio. Monday I get a new patio cover, the old one was leaking.
I got some of that shower gel! It seemed harsh, so I don’t use it. I liked the glycerine based soap, tho, and I will be buying more of it soon!
Yeah, I have one of those shampoos. My stylist recommended it to tone down the “brassy” reddish brown that’s still there and punch up the silver streaks. It doesn’t do much, and actually I liked my reddish brown hair and am not put off by it.
I like Matrix So Silver shampoo, it’s working really well on keeping my hair sparkly.
Hope that you have a brand new patio cover by now!
Pretty minimalist at the moment, with Nivea Rose and almond oil, and Yves Rocher Fleur do Coton Mimosa. Sigh, it looks like Chanel’s Paris-Venise shower gel might no longer be available. I have one more bottle, and will break it out whenever I need a lift.
Are there any other Chanel showergels available? Besides the obvious No. 5?
A bunch of Chanel shower gels are available such as Gabrielle, Coco Mademoiselle, Chance, the Paris line and Bleu to name a few.
I’ve got too many things in my shower, and really need to do some culling. But I won’t remove my Géranium Pour Monsieur and Rose et Cuir body washes from Frederic Malle. I use them sparingly – they are such an indulgent treat.
Speaking of Malle, my scent of the day is “Heaven Can Wait.” Not crazy about the name, but besotted with the perfume.
Oh, Daniel you smell wonderful, I adore this perfume.
FM body washes? How luxe!
Wow you all have some classy stuff…I wanna take a shower at YOUR place lol
I have currently Rose 31 Shower Gel. Strongly scented and smells great in a hot shower.
I usually around Fall-time get Habit Rouge by Guerlain and Shalimar by Guerlain also.
My all time favorite scented shower gel: Bandit by Piguet. INCREDible stuff.
Well, you have some classy stuff yourself.
Fresh strawberries instead of smoothie.
Very basic with soap bars in the bathroom, all of the ‘natural’ variety among them a very creamy olive oil soap. I usually get my olive oil soaps in Provence, nicer and cheaper but that one is from England and really good. One shower gel, I’m impressed by everybody having so many Lush gels, mine is from Original Source, mango. My favored soaps are from Oriza L. Legrand but that’s a splurge.
Tonight wearing Brécourt Farah which I have starter to really adore.
It’s still strawberry season here, but the local peaches (Palisade Peaches!!! YUM!) have been showing up in the last week or so. 🍓🍑
Strawberries are in full swing in the UK until the end of September. Yes, peaches here too! Enjoy yours🍑
Pretty minimal right now- Pre de Provence Cassis and Pear soap which I have in a loofah type baggie-smells great, gentle but effective (with the loofah thingie), so I am using it for body and face. Hubby has some Nivea Sporty shower gel, and the end of a bottle of AXE Peace shampoo (the sandalwood one- smells lovely but hard to find). My shampoo at the moment is the utterly non irritating Nioxin one, and I have Puredistance Strengthcure conditioner for long hair, I think it is called. That’s all. I have been working hard to minimalize our daily routines. But it being high summer I am tempted to get some La Chasse aux Papillions shower gel and lotion. Linden is the best for hot weather…
I love Linden soap, shower gel, fragrance, whatever! It’s so perfect in the summer.
I don’t know why Libden isn’t mor ubiquitous. It must be rd to work with in some way.
I have a lot of soap at any given time but not much shower gel. I’m working on a bar of Panier des Sens Jasmine soap. I was s/w disappointed by my Fox in the Flowerbed soap because it was so light smelling. The Panier isn’t too strong but it has some indolic heft to it.
I went through a bar of Tauer Gardenia soap but I wasn’t crazy about the glycerin.
I’m more familiar with Lush fragrances than their other products but based on Robin’s recommendation, I bought and really like their jasmine hair treatment.
I am also head over heels (pun realized after the fact😬) with Lush’s Revive hair moisturizer and I’d pay big $$ for a fragrance that smells like it (orange blossom, jasmine and coconut). I know I’m a broken record on NST about this but if anyone knows Revive and it reminds you of a fragrance, please let me know. Why Lush hasn’t made this into a fragrance is beyond my comprehension.
On another note, a friend of mine brought her 19 year old daughter over to see my perfume fort today as part of a birthday gift. The plan was to find inspiration for her to get a FB later. Turns out that VCA Rose Rouge rose to the top of her sniffing list and as it also turns out, I don’t wear it that much so she left with a nearly full bottle! It was fun to watch her try different things and rank order them. I could tell she’s got a good nose for someone that young with very little perfume exposure🌹
Oh, Fox in the Flowerbed had good sillage for me. I could always smell it when I walked into the washroom, long after the bar had dried. Maybe it was a batch issue?
I’m jealous! I really love the fragrance and it has good lasting power on me.
That was super sweet of you to do all of that for her birthday!
I also love that you have a perfume fort!
Mr. allo named it😊
Oh, I bet your friend’s daughter had a ball. I would love to see your collection.
Come on over!💕
I wish.
Your Perfume Fort sounds SO awesome!
I’ve switched entirely to soaps because I don’t like the gunky afterfeel of most shower gels. I find L’Occitane’s shea butter-based soaps to be wonderfully cleansing without drying the skin. My go-to shampoo is also a solid bar – I’ve been using Lush’s Seanik for about a year and half now and couldn’t be happier.
I like soap too, but it’s easier for me to keep 10 shower gels in the shower than 10 soaps 😉
I do still buy some soaps though.
I totally get that. I mean, shower gels are so much easier to use, plus they smell soooo good!
I’m more into taking long baths than showering during winter.I’ve also been obsessed with mostly lavender or sandalwood products for my routines.
Showergel:Nesti Dante Tuscan Lavanda.So good!
Shampoo:Garnier Oatmilk for sensitive scalps.
Facewash:The Ordinary Glucoside foaming cleanser(the BEST for my oily t-zone!)
Bodyscrub:Sol de janeiro Bum-bum body scrub 1x week.
I LOVELOVELOVE!!!! the Lush showergels, but my skin does not tolerate any of them(bumps/ingrown hairs/itchiness-too much info sorry!)so I just gave up.
Happy sunday!
XO’s
I am also using a face wash from The Ordinary. It’s an oil to foam cleanser. I forget the name.
I have a facial cleanser from The Ordinary I haven’t opened up yet.
Love that you’re such a Lush fan, Robin. I was an avid customer of their original incarnation, Cosmetics To Go – back in the days when they were mail order only (unless you lived near their one shop on the south coast of England) & they issued a printed catalogue a few times a year. When your order arrived there were always a couple of mini chocolate bars lurking in the packaging! I still pop into Lush from time to time when I pass one of their shops. I was also a keen customer of Yves Rocher for many years, but they stopped doing business here in the UK some years ago, sadly – I am madly envious that you can buy their products in the US!
I used to really like Yves Rocher but I do think the fragrances have gone downhill. I tend now to only like a fraction of what I order, so I might be done with them.
They closed their brick & mortar stores here a few years back. I think they still have some in Canada and that is why we can order online? But not positive.
Due to some skin sensitivity issues, I’m not adventurous in the shower gel realm. If I could reliably use the shower gels, I would doubtless have WAY too many bottles.
So I have 2 bottles: Everyone Coconut & Lemon and Lavender & Aloe, which I use for hand washing. In the shower, it’s Dove Sensitive and Ivory.
And a question: Does anyone else find that perfumes with vanilla get increasingly sweet as they wear? Is this the usual experience?
I think my vanilla perfumes have become more dense and prominent over time. I haven’t noticed that they are more sweet.
Oh, that’s interesting. Thanks!
I’ve noticed something similar to what Lillyjo has mentioned. A couple of perfumes I have with vanilla in them are more vanilla-forward than they used to be.
But not all of the perfumes I have which contain vanilla notes have behaved that way.
So fun to read everyone’s scented shower picks! Makes me want to run out for some Lush Rose Jam. Here are mine!
Body Wash:
TJs Tea Tree Tingle
TJs Brazil Nut
– wish TJ/ would make bottle refills/reduce plastic
Remedy Soap Tea Tree & Peppermint (like TJs better)
Hempz White Gardenia & Coconut
Sephora Monoi Oil (sadly discontinued)
Bar soap: Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nile and Goat Milk bar from local farmers market
I’ve thought about getting the Hempz White Gardenia and Coconut a few times. But haven’t done so yet.
Hermes makes lovely bath things 🙂
CDG Jaisalmer today. We had a bit of rain late yesterday and a minuscule “cool down” so this morning it’s absolutely lovely- sunny, less than 80F, with a gentle breeze! Saw a fawn yesterday as I went into pick up mail, all ears, legs, and speckles. So cute! Hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday! ✌🏼
Oh how nice!! (The weather, and the fawn)
I use shower gels only for scenting bath water, not as cleanser and so my tub currently has a few of the BBW from the men’s collection that are almost used up. Hubby doesn’t care much for scented soaps so we have Kirk’s Castile soap in the shower. Shampoos – generic dandruff shampoo for him, while I have BondiBoost shampoo and conditioner as well as some baby shampoo for variety.
Wearing a sample of Ambar Dominicano by Day Three. It does remind me of male aftershave. I see one review saying “rum and coke” and I get that also.
Rainy today, which is good considering we have been in drought conditions here. I will probably venture out for a walk, despite the certainty of soggy sneakers.
I think we’re getting rain tomorrow…already felt cooler tonight though.
SOTD is Fox in the Flowerbed.
Unfortunately, we do not have a Lush store here so I haven’t tried too many of their products. I have to blind buy them online if I want them so many of my shower gels are from BBW. Right now, I have in my shower four of them which include Gingham Gorgeous, Butterfly, Rose and At the Beach. They all go with perfumes I use in the summer. Also, have Suave Mango and Citrus and a Dial Spring Water. I also had a bar soap, thanks to a NSTer of Fox in the Flowerbed.
My favorite hair products are Lanza. They are expensive, but worth it as far as I am concerned. I use the stimulator hair products as my hair is starting to thin as I get older, but if you have colored hair, a very nice smelling floral is their Color Preserving Shampoo and Conditioner. The Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner is also nice smelling. I believe it is a bamboo bodifier.
Bbw shower gel twins! If you catch a good sale they are more inexpensive than drugstore brands ( which have gone crazy with their pricing imo)
Yes, they can be!
If you like sweet, jammy roses, then LUSH Rose Jam fits the bill perfectly. It’s one of my favorites from them.
LUSH Good Karma is patchouli all the way.
Funny. Everyone seems to like Rose Jam and when I tried it several years ago, I couldn’t stand it. Maybe my scent has changed now, and I should try again. After trying it, I wasn’t much interested in trying anything else by Lush.
Hmmmmmmmmm. Maybe a different showergel would be a good idea then?
If you like minty, there’s Dirty and Intergalactic. LUSH Sleepy is lavender and tonka. Robin has mentioned the Posh Chocolate body wash a few times, but I haven’t personally tried it. And Grass is a beautiful green neroli and sandalwood combo.
Actually, I decided to try it again along with Sticky Dates. We will see how it goes.
I love Sticky Dates but it is REALLY sweet and I mix it with other shower gels. You might try that with the Rose Jam too! Lush does tend towards sweet.
glad this was posted as i love reading about what’s in everyone’s showers. i tend to buy a lot ahead of a season and then try to cut myself off and just use stuff up, so that’s what i’m doing lately. culling all the spring/summery scents as much as i can. (though i did just recently buy a 5 pack of fragonard soaps.)
currently i have:
fragonard verbena soap
the body shop moringa scented conditioner
shower gels:
yves rocher cherry blossom
avon skin so soft
lush twilight shower jelly
bath and body works calm haven (lavender/iris)
crabtree and evelyn wisteria (vintage!)
tesori d’oriente aegyptus
also, i just finished off tesori d’oriente ayurveda and a philosopy lemon custard shower gels.
oh and i forgot one: crabtree and evelyn summer hill.
Oh, I used to love that scent when I was in university. I found Summer Hill scented drawer liners when Ockeghem Teen got her new dresser a couple of years ago, too!
yes it’s a really lovely floral! the drawer liners sound so nice.
How was the Lemon Custard showergel?
i thought it was quite nice, a lemon with a hint of sweetness, but not overly sweet or cloying (which i personally don’t like.) also the lemon wasn’t too sharp-a good balance.
Sounds like it was one of the better offerings from pHilosophy.
Good morning from the start of the working week here. As usual, I have very little to report on shower products – a bar of Palmolive soap and an unscented bodywash.
However, I can report on the two new Arquistes I sniffed on Saturday. A Grove by the Sea is a herby fig, with a touch of salt. I don’t like a salt note, but if you do, I recommend trying this. The bottle is also an exquisite colour, the picture on Fragrantica is a darker green, but I’d describe it as peridot.
Venice Rococo is too powdery for my tastes, but if you like powdery scents, then I suggest trying it.
That’s money saved for me, but I’m always keen to try anything from Arquiste – and Venice Rococo hasn’t even been formally launched. I’m not usually in so early!
I love a salt note, so I will seek this out. Thanks for the mini reviews!
When someone mentions fig + salt in perfume, I think of TM Womanity. Because that’s what I got from it, plus loads of labdanum.
I did not care for Womanity.
I just finished writing up Venice Rococo…glad to hear a report about it already!
We’re under a heavy rain and snow warning though it seems okay at the moment. I see that Edna O’Brien has died. She often mentioned scent and perfume in her stories, usually quite heavy perfumes, like carnation, and associated with the women on the outside of polite society. I remember a story called The Savages about a woman who returns to Ireland from Australia who wore a perfume called California Poppy. It set her off, in part, from the local women. Wearing Daim Blond

A short story with perfume
She was such a great talent. Thanks for the links.
SOTD = Providence Perfume Lapsang Lover
Wonderful! TBH it wasn’t the best scent when I first wore it, then I gave it a few months to continue to macerate and voila, it became this gorgeous scent! This is probably the 4th time I am wearing it.

In other news, I have to say that the “in” color is now this gorgeous lime green and has nothing to do with political affiliation 🤫:

I’m hopelessly out of style. I don’t have anything in that color green.
That lime green/chartreuse color is intensely summery and good for a summer wallet or string bag or something, but that color green does nothing good for my complexion (give me pink, pink, pink, Barbie Pink!!!). Who can wear it and not look like one is emerging from the far end of a too long, too hard weekend of rodeo and partying??? Not me, that is for sure. 🙂 We had hot humid weather today and I am in a small squirt of Mon Precieux Nectar – pretty pretty pretty…
Oy! I put my comment in the wrong spot! I love Mon Precieux Nectar and will have to wear that soon!
I used to have a turtleneck in that green shade back in the 1990’s. I wore it to get a passport photo taken.
The picture actually looked pretty good!
I love shower gels and soaps.
My favourites right now are SMN Melograno, Byredo Blanche and Le Petit Marseillais with peach. I also love Roger Gallet and Monsillage soaps .
SMN makes great shower gels.
I’m currently alternating between bbw watermelon and Coco Paradise shower gels. I’m trying to use them up before the end of summer. I also have the Creme Hello Kitty Strawberry and Oatmilk and bbw Lemon Tea Pound Cake by bbw. It is a perfect match for Dolce and Gabbana Devotion. I bought the bbw Tropidelic shampoo and conditioner but I do not recommend it for dry hair. I’m using it up anyway.
Oh, I bet that does pair well with Devotion. I have found that BBW shower gels and lotions pair well with many perfumes. For example, Butterfly has iris and seems to smell great with some of my sweeter iris scents.
I am currently using my B&BW Lemon Tea and Pound Cake handwash! I usually time bottle replacement so they all get equal use. I do fail, trust me 🤣.
Oh I didn’t see the handwash here. I just love the scent! I got the matching lotion too.
I’m also trying to use something up by the end of summer.
Monday Monday
In Orange 🍊 Marmalade layered with WSS
Your SOTD combo sounds rather savory. Is it?
I think the WSS makes it more fresh- but savory too 🌟
Thanks! 😎
Back in PG Grand Siecle for another scorcher today. I’m over summer.
I’ve been working towards a minimalist shower ever since I got my bathroom remodeled, and I think I’ve succeeded:
-Refillable amber glass pump bottles for shampoo (currently Tresemme something) and body wash (currently Aveeno Lavender). My hair is short so I don’t use conditioner.
-I found a Lush Sea Veg shampoo bar (still in the aluminum case) in the back of my vanity, so I’m using that right now. It’s got to be ten years old.
-A bar of soap and a wooden soap dish from an Etsy seller who sells bags of soap ends by the pound. I’ve got some Dove and some hotel mini soaps waiting in the wings also.
-A ceramic jar to hold a razor.
That does sound minimalist, good for you!
Wearing Papillon Hera from decant/swap. Lots of flowers in this one.😬 We’ll see how it settles…
Off today and psyching myself up for the long drive to and from civilization for groceries and other bit and bobs (I may hit Ulta and see what scented body products they have).Rearranged my flight home because I only had a one hour layover at CDG from Toulouse, with the connecting flight back to the US in another terminal. 100% positive I would miss that connection! 😅
I’ve been prolifically beading my little heart out, will start an ankle bracelet in gold, lavender, and pale blush today. Most recent project (flat peyote stitch bracelet) is done except for clasp and minor finishing touches. Here is an almost finished look for those interested in beading. I think it will look great with a simple black sweater:

Happy Monday!!
Toulouse is wonderful, would be happy to go back one day. And the beading is lovely!
Thanks! I hope you’re able to visit again sooner rather than later. ✈️
When is your trip?
The last two weeks of October.
Your bracelet is beautiful! It’s like beaded snake skin, in the best way.
Thanks, it came out better than I expected. Really catches the light and sparkles. ✨
Wow, your beadwork is gorgeous!
Do you use a loom for a bracelet that wide?
No loom, this was all single flat peyote stitch.
Wow. Gorgeous beading. I have never been into fine jewelry, I prefer handmade and unique stuff, exactly like that bracelet.
Thank you! I love handcrafted stuff, too.

… 8 sprays – why not?
https://www.instagram.com/p/C-A0hvAuzcp/?igsh=c3RscGczdXJ6b3Zx
Isn’t 8 sprays kinda dangerous for a Slumberhouse perfume?
I was even considering going up in my normal sprays! It is dangerous, yes, but you only live once 🤣
Shampoo: a yuzu-scented shampoo made and sold by Ten Thousand Waves, a Japanese -inspired spa here in Santa Fe
Conditioner: Gisou honey
Face wash: Tatcha matcha gel (SO disappointed this doesn’t have any smell, much less matcha! It’s still a good product)
Body wash: Native spiked egg nog (deliciously boozy) alternated with a Dove lavender milk soap bar. I don’t generally use bar soap but this smelled far too yummy to resist!
Shaving cream: Athena Club vanilla cocoon. It comes out like whipped cream, which is really fun to use. Far too expensive for what you get, but chuckling every time I use it makes it worth it.
Tatcha makes some very nice facial products. But pricey!
I’m wearing Rose Chérie and relaxing under the fan with the shades down on another hot humid summer day. We did get out for a nice bike ride along the river early this morning though. I have Lush Rose Jam, BBW At the Beach & Poppy, and Aveeno lavender shower gels in the bathtub right now. When it gets cooler, I’ll rotate those out for Sticky Dates and a few sweet BBW ones.
You’re smelling quite lovely in Rose Cherie!
Need to get more Rose Jam. I’m out of it right now, since I thunked mu bottle of it earlier this year.
Argh! That should be “MY” bottle!
Fat fingered typo strikes again. Feh!
Oooh, I should wear Mon Precieux Nectar!
For meredifay!
Working tonight and grumpy about it. I am wearing Shalimar MI and not grumpy about how I smell 🌞
Glad you are in your own little cloud of scented beauty
Hope work passes quickly!
I’m grumpy every time I have to work. Who ever came up with the idea of “work” should be hung by their toenails!
At least the corporate bigwigs aren’t scheduled for a visit today… 🤪
On day 2 of my vacation. Yesterday it was too hot to do anything and most museums are closed on Monday so it’s just hanging out in Theorema today. Tomorrow it looks like it’s going to be a Rock n Roll hall of fame type of day. I am debating on either vintage Mitsouko or Ubar.
Have fun tomorrow!
I’m looking out at snow on the hills and a host of bedraggled birds hunched up on the rails of my deck, hoping for a second helping of seed and apples. It’s very gloomy and wet so a silly perfume is just what I need. I’m burning a wonderful candle called Banana Toast, a caramel banana scent. Wearing Smell Bent Brussel Sprouted.
Snow!
Snow!
I’ve started this week’s CP with Ummagumma since it’s rainy and a cool day of 68. This isn’t one that I can usually wear in July!
WIsh I had some of that rain and cool! It’s 98 here.
That is too hot! We really needed this rain.
“But it’s a DRY heat!” 😢😒
Like Kelly Red and a few other NSTers mentioned above, I switch things around in my shower seasonally. In current rotation are the following:
Showergels: pHilosophy Wild Passionfruit and LUSH Good Karma. The Wild Passionfruit was a Daily Lemming posted here quite a while back. It smells mostly of vanilla with a vague fruit note.
Facial cleansers: Fresh Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash and The Inkey List Fulvic Acid Cleanser (need to get more of this one!)
Shampoos (yes, plural): Ouai Detox Shampoo, Moroccainoil Extra Volume Shampoo, and Oribe Hair Alchemy Resilience Shampoo. All these are travel sizes, since the shelves in my tub/shower are tiny! On deck for shampoo is a partial bottle of Aveda Shampure.
Conditioner: Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Conditioner (whew, that’s a mouthful), and Amika Soulfood Nourishing Mask. Again, travel sizes. Both work really well to keep the ends of my hair from getting totally destroyed by tangles and split ends.
SOTD = commando. I forgot to put on perfume in the rush to get grocery shopping done and never put any on when that was finished.
I’ve always wanted to try that strawberry face wash. Does it smell good?
It’s lightly scented of tart strawberries and sugar.
Thankful for that, since I don’t like highly scented things on my face.
I use Morroconoil hairspray. Love their products.
I haven’t needed new hairspray for a while, but I will keep your recommendation in mind.
Wearing a sample of Day Three’s Escándalo. I bought the discovery set expecting to like Say Less and instead I like Escándalo best so far. If the green, fruity notes of the opening lasted longer,I would be totally sold. I may break my yearly full bottle limit for a purchase, since buying the sample set gets me a discount on a full bottle and not sure how long the discount is honored. Plus I have nothing like this in my collection.
Wearing Bronze Goddess today. And we had a lovely day of rain!
The immediate shower areas include:
Shower gels – Lush Slammer and Keep it Fluffy; both are from the monthly subscription box. Also a sample of Ouai body cleanser.
Shampoos and conditioners – Johnsons Baby shampoo, Ouai Detox (a mini from a Sephora points bonus), John Frieda Violet Crush; Joico Moisture Recovery conditioner.
Scrubs include Lush Intergalactic; it’s not overly rough or drying but gets all the sunscreen off. I love it! I also have a Guardian of the Forest scrub in the wings with the same texture. It smells great too!
Theres a mini of L’Occitane Almond oil; it’s great for shaving. Recently I started using a coconut oil treatment on the hair mids and ends once a month as a pre-wash to help with breakage and detangler. It seems to really help, so far so good.
Ha, shampoo twins!
Hi twin! I used the Ouai shampoo today. Really liked the texture of it; seems to be thicker than most shampoos.
The Ouai shampoo is a new favorite of mine. I’ve already repurchased it.
