Indie brand DS & Durga has launched Peanut, a new limited edition fragrance in the brand's Studio Reserves series.
The beauty of bold Virginia nuts ensconced in sandy soils and fields of crumbling shells.
America’s favorite nut (I know - legume), peanut is rarely used in perfume. But all parts of the plant are interesting to me. The soft dirty shells, the fatty earthy nut, the dark skins, the leaves in the field. I took an accord of peanut, expanded it with soft strokes of gourmand notes, earthy tones, toasty woods, a grassy vetyver. It’s a drive through fields of dried plants and soft shells, but really it’s all about the nut!
DS & Durga Peanut is $250 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

I very much do not want to smell like peanuts, but I do very much want to give this a sniff!
It sounds compelling. I wouldn’t mind smelling like peanuts but would rather pay Demeter prices for it 😉
On the one hand, this sounds like a lot of fun. On the other hand, there’s no way on Earth it’s worth $250 to smell like peanuts. As Barry Goldwater famously said, “If you don’t mind smelling like peanut butter for two or three days, peanut butter is darn good shaving cream.”
Ha, did he really? And we think alike…I just said above this is something I’d like to pay Demeter prices for.
But will they have to put out warnings for peanut allergies like on flights?
I suspect not, but wearing it might scare people with allergies.
That was my first thought too, Apsara.
