Indie perfume house Dawn Spencer Hurwitz has launched Butterbeer, the brand's limited edition fragrance for Holiday 2023. Also new-ish from the brand: Golden Poinsettia, Bacchanal, Saku, Urban Beekeeper and the Sherbet Collection.

Butterbeer {Holiday no.23} ~ "A rich and satisfying gourmand delight that warms as it develops… starting with a touch of rum and a light fizzy lemon twist in the top note, butter co2, creamy Tahitian vanilla co2, and orris butter in the heart, landing on a caramelic butterscotch accord, roasted barley extract, tonka bean, and sandalwood in the base. // This year our Holiday fragrance is Butterbeer; inspired by Harry Potter & his friends favorite drink. It’s that sweet, warming drink that everyone loves to sip while hanging out at the Three Broomsticks pub in Hogsmeade Village.."

Golden Poinsettia ~ "A rich and celebratory vintage style golden amber chypre with a gold leaf and softly aldehydic top note, lushly spiced florals in the heart, and sensuous labdanum, leather, and ambergris in the drydown. // The image of a Golden Poinsettia came as inspiration not only because the poinsettia is a flower associated with the Holiday Season, but also for the fact that it is known for its bloom and not its scent. (It has no fragrance). It allows for a full fantasy to emerge; a beauty beyond realism. Golden Poinsettia is a retro-nouveau, luxe ambery chypre that hearkens back to perfumes of the past."

Bacchanal ~ "A lush and bountiful fruity – pastoral – chypre fragrance inspired by the muscadine grape vineyards and rolling hay fields of Autumn in the Carolinas. Bacchanal opens with a lovely sweet grape / grape leaf / white cognac meets bergamot accord to then open to a fanciful heart of soft rose petals, jasmine, and hay. The drydown is an elegant yet earthly base of patchouli, amyris, and green oakmoss."

Saku ~ "A gorgeous blossoming confluence of green olives, osmanthus bushes in full bloom, teas, and a drydown of ‘fruity oud’ mixed with sandalwood. It’s a veritable trifecta of “O” notes: perfect for the transition from Summer into Autumn."

Urban Beekeeper ~ "This is the scent of the Urban Beekeeper who wears a light yuzu, citrus-floral fragrance as well as the underlying scent of the hive that they tend: honey, floral nectar, touches of pollen and beeswax."

Aqua Fresca {Sherbet Water Collection no.1} ~ "The Sherbet Water concept was originally developed for our Dawn Perfumes brand in Japan, where the humidity and heat can get intense during the summer months. This new series a scented delight created around sherbet / sorbet pairings of iced fruit with fresh herbs. The scent experience of the body spray is not only perfect for summer (when stronger fragrance can be overwhelming) but leaves skin with a subtle, sweet ‘murmur’ that hums around you all day bringing gentle relief. // Chilled watermelon juice with crushed mint and a sprig of rosemary. The cooling edge of green leaves, frosty mint, and effervescent rosemary keeps the watermelon light and “crunchy”, rather than sticky. The subtle sweetness is kind and gentle. We just can’t get enough of it!"

Aqua Fina {Sherbet Water Collection no.2} ~ "Aqua Fina brings sophistication to what could be considered a ‘juvenile’ fruit note: Peach. With Aqua Fina we’ve paired the soft luscious qualities of peach with spicy green basil leaves, lemon verbena, and bergamot To top it all off, there’s subtle hint of ‘chypre’ in the drydown which brings out an incredible skin scent that moves with you as you move through your day and evening. Aqua Verde {Sherbet Water Collection no.3} ~  "Aqua Verde is a gorgeous melange of iced pear with garden fresh cilantro leaves and fresh cucumber slices. The beauty of cilantro brings an energizing, grassy / garden feel to the sweetness of pear. The green skinned perfection of cucumber marries the whole into an almost drinkable summer ‘cocktail’."

Aqua Calma {Sherbet Water Collection no.4} ~ "Aqua Calma is a DREAMY refreshment of neroli, chamomile, lemon, bergamot, verbena, melissa (lemon blam) and vanilla bean that imparts a soft, creamy aspect that not only helps you feel calm and relaxed, but cozy; without feeling too warm. (This is the calming, amazingly euphoric, all-year vanilla that you can even wear in summertime!)"
