French niche line Etat Libre d’Orange has launched Nostos, a new Harrods-exclusive fragrance.
Incense on the top note evokes the celebratory rituals of the Greeks of antiquity.
With the Nostos eau de parfum, Etat Libre d'Orange turns its attention to ancient Greece, examining the concept of the word’s meaning – to return – and how it forms the etymological root of nostalgia. Few elements can elicit memory quite like smell, and this fragrances wraps its wearer in notes that call to mind the endless summers of dewy youth, like mandarin, Turkish rose, jasmine, saffron and sandalwood.
Additional notes include incense, jasmine, oud accord, georgia wood, ambrofix, suede and musk.
Etat Libre d’Orange Nostos is available at Harrods in the UK, £215 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

So Many thoughts for a simple perfume announcement…
-Why are perfume exclusives still a thing? They are so dumb, especially for a store in the UK aka with no out-of contry shopping
-That’s pretty darned expensive for an ELO – or have they too shot up in price?
-The notes sound nice, if not wildly original
-Ad copy *not* obnoxiously written!
ELdO has 2 lines, and I can’t remember what they are called but this is the high end series, they have metallic labels.
Stores like perfume exclusives 🙂
Sharing AnnieA’s exasperation with exclusives, but I do get it. I’m guessing Herrods has a market in mind for the perfume, to which the cost has been calibrated, and feels confident about its sales.
But I would love to try this perfume! I love the name, the story, and the notes.
I think a couple in this series started as store exclusives and were later more widely available…
All these Harrods exclusives are obnoxious to me. But so are oud and ambrofix, so no real loss.
🙂
