It's already late July (where has the summer gone?) so it's time for our annual shower census....do tell us about the scented products in your bath or shower! How many scented shower gels and/or bar soaps are in your shower right now? And do tell us the names / products. If you have any great scented products in other categories (hair care?) tell us about those too.
Or, as always, just talk about something else.
I use shower gels every single day, yet almost everything in my shower right now was there last year, except one: Lush Sticky Dates. A sign I keep too many shower gels? The other 9 daily options at the moment: Lush Mimosa, Lush Happy Hippy, Lush Posh Chocolate, Shikai Yuzu, Yves Rocher Mango Coriander, Yves Rocher Argan Rose Hammam (almost gone and I will miss it, it mixes so nicely with Sticky Dates), Yves Rocher Almond Orange Blossom, Weleda Sea Buckthorn Creamy Body Wash, Aveda Shampure Body Wash.
Note: the top image shows a Kohler tub in the 1973 color "Pink Champagne", one of the options when Kohler asked consumers to vote on heritage colors to reissue for 2023. It did not make the cut; you can see the winning colors here.
I just ran out of my lemon soap and my basic Dove body wash, so this post is well timed for me! Can’t wait to see some good recs. Should I get Lush Mimosa or a fig or rose soap/gel next?! Yay summer scents!
I have not had a good fig shower gel in years!
Lush USA seems to be out of Mimosa 🙁
I still fondly remember a Mediterranean fig product from Boots that was discontinued.
Korres used to have a Fig shower gel that I liked a lot. But I didn’t care for the matching Body Butter.
I’ve been debating getting the Korres fig shower gel and rose shower gel and mixing them to create what I want Dioriviera to smell like.
I think I had a bottle of that once!
I rather liked Le Petit Marseillais body wash in fig, excuse me Figue! No idea how easy it is to find, you know, outside of France these days.
Thanks AnnieA!
My shower is pretty boring. It’s summer, so there’s a big bottle of Dr Bronners Peppermint Castile soap, also Dove soap and Tabu shower gel for when I want to feel fancy.
My daughter is a product junkie and she has lots of good smelling stuff. The only problem is that I can’t read the bottles without my glasses and I can’t wear glasses in the shower! One time I washed my hair with peppermint soap because it was the only bottle I recognized.
Dr Bronner’s peppermint liquid soap is such a pick-me-up in the shower.
Nothing beats it when it’s hot and humid outside.
Your daughter sounds like my daughter!!!!
Tabu shower gel! Where did you find it?
On eBay for cheap, I think it was under $12 for two tubes.
I have bins of products! My go-to body wash for days I have in-person meetings, airline travel, or any other too-close-for-comfort situation is is either L’Occitane Citrus Verbena or Tocca Giulietta.
I was just wondering about the new L’Occitane Verbena carrot flower thing…
I want to try but not blind buying at $82. Even $26 for an 8-oz shower gel is a bit steep.
Caved. Will follow up with report in a future post.
That didn’t take long 🤣🤣🤣
Oh my that really was easy! Do report back.
The key thing in my shower is Axe Dark Temptation 3-in-1 shower gel/shampoo/conditioner, which is basically Mugler A*Men simplified, and very nice.
Today I’m in SL Un Bois Vanille, the most accessible Lutens ever. Hard to imagine anyone hating this: it’s not too sweet, and only the hint of licorice could really jangle any nerves, I expect.
Thanks for the mini-Axe DT review. I have suspected that some of the sweeter, non-aquatic Axes might be fun for me to try. Also, I so agree about Un Bois Vanille.
What isn’t in my shower..? A whole lotta Lush shower gels for starters:
– an industrial size bottle of Happy Hippie gel which is the default, (though I still pine for my longtime favorite the discontinued Back for Breakfast)
-a mid-sized bottle of Rose Jam, half-full and another small and empty one
-a small bottle of Karma for when I’m feeling all in on the patchouli
-a pretty much empty bottle of Beautiful (discontinued?)
-an empty Olive Branch (meh)
-Not Lush: a tube of Nicki de Saint Phalle gel for those retro glam evenings
Fortunately we subscribe to Terracycle! So, why you ask haven’t I moved the empties out?
Not in the shower but in vicinity, a nice box filled with Lush bath bombs, various.
An array of Weleda mini body oils.
Shampoo (earl grey, disc. sadly) & conditioner (enlivening) bars from Upfront Cosmetics. These are quite nice.
A giant bar of french olive oil face soap (brand? who knows!)
a truly ancient container of Caudalie scrub that I never really liked and really needs to go
Nikki de Saint Phalle is a blast from my very distant past… had every version included EDT and perfume
I also have NdSP EDT & the perfume in the spectacular little sculptural snake bottle; they are recent acquisitions though – I’ve been on a vintage bender.
Good for you!! They are spectacular!! I had them when they weren’t vintage lol But I finished them up.
The shower ChezMossy is very boring as always, unscented Dove and some sort of freshie scented Head and Shoulders for Mr. Mossy. I change up my shampoo from time to time, but if I lived near a lush store, I am sure I would have a few of their choices.
Unscented Dove is a staple chez marzipan… not for me but for other members
Nubian Hertiage Patchouli soap ( really wish this came in an edt) and 32 oz of Living Grace Hair and body wash which middle marzipan put in the shower so that she can use it (came in a trio bundle which also includes 120 oz of EDP and 32 oz of body lotion…. Love it and am seriously considering a back up… please talk me out of it)
SOTD is Dame New Musk
Correction… Patchouli & Buriti
Robin, did you know that there’s an Aveda Shampure EDP? It’s a dupe so I don’t know if it’s exact but I bought a travel spray and loved it!!!
Well that’s interesting, because I don’t actually like the smell of the shower gel — that’s why it has lasted so long. But it might just be a crappy shower gel? I never used Shampure hair stuff.
I adore the smell of Aveda Botanical Repair, I would buy that in any format they would sell me.
I have used Aveda Shampure products in the past. Rather liked what they did with my hair.
What did you think of the scent? Because I read that the scent was amazing I bought the EDP. Used half and sent the rest to a good friend
I enjoyed it very much. Have to say that the scents are part of the appeal of Aveda products for me. But having a shampoo that makes nice with my fine hair is an even bigger consideration.
As a person with fine hair I would agree to that!!!!
I agree! I recently smelled a bottle of the Shampoo however, and it smelled a lot and not quite like I remembered. It wonder if it was a fake or something.
Meredifay, I didn’t notice a difference in the scent of the Shampure. But I get my bottles from either an Aveda store, or the salon I go to get my hair done at.
Where did you get yours from?
Another ShiKai fan here — Yuzu and Cucumber Melon are summertime favorites. There’s also a big bottle of Mrs. Meyers Basil shower gel in there now, and a bar of Mediterraneo soap cycles in and out now and then. And I’m addicted to the scent of my hair conditioner, KMS Tame Frizz (no affiliation). I can’t quite figure out what the components of that scent are, but maybe cocoa and patchouli? It’s yummy.
SOTM is from a dabber vial of MDCI Chypre Palatin. Oh my, but it’s gorgeous, very lush. LS says the notes are green clementine, hyacinth, lavender, rose, jasmine, iris, benzoin, styrax, vanilla, castoreum, costus and leather accord, but the rest of their write-up paints a better picture: “Spray it on, and you’re drawn into a rich green 70s-style floral chypre, a galbanum-laced hyacinth splashed with bright green clementine with agrestic lavender accents. The hyacinth’s rosy facet melds into a rich floral bouquet of rose, jasmine and iris, brushed with clove and coriander.” Yep, that’s totally what I’m getting.
I have a bottle of ShiKai Starfruit somewhere in a closet, I think that’s the only one I haven’t liked.
The shower chez Ockeghem at the moment is a fraught topic, as I’ve mentioned in previous posts. There’s not much in the one working shower we have right now, as more work will need to be done there (when we’re away next week, I hope). So right now it’s just Lemon Up soap, which used to be in a dish up in the master bath but faded so I gave it to Ockeghem Teen, who’s not that picky.
I’m not much of a shower gel fan; I’ve tried a number of the Lush gels and have never quite warmed to them as they just have a synthetic feel to my nose (which is likely off, given how many fans the gels have!). I do like their bath bombs, though, and Ockeghem Teen usually has a whole bunch of them out, which apparently she likes to admire more than use (correction the teen would have me make: she uses them, but only a little at a time).
I do love soap. I’ve been using some of the Fzotic seconds and I think there’s one left. I’ve got a couple of the Monsillage soaps that I haven’t yet tried, as well. I also just restocked my Kappus soaps when we were in Germany (big fan of the lilac and the rose, and for ~$3 each they’re worth carrying home, also they make my luggage smell good!). I can thank NSTers for turning me on to all of these! Otherwise, there’d be just some shaving soap, which I make myself; my latest batch was a citrus “energy” scent.
That said, I distinctly remember, when I came home on Monday night and tried to get all the necessities into the washroom, taking out my soap holder with the latest master bath soap and my shaving soap on it and putting it…somewhere. Somewhere that I haven’t been able to discover in the week since. Oh well, it’ll turn up eventually once the chaos resolves, I imagine.
I like bar soap too, but mostly use for travel. Still, the Fzotic soaps are very tempting.
I’ll admit to being a shower/bath product slut. I have an entire cabinet devoted to the stuff and am always tempted to buy more. In my defense I do USE them, nothing is saved.
Currently in the shower is a bar of Margarita bar soap by Rileyville, Lush Rose Jam gel, Shalimar gel, Byedo Pulp gel, and BodyShop Lemon Verbena gel. That’s the summer rotation. The product of shame is my husbands bar of Zest. I advert my eyes. 😆
Rose Jam gel is the bomb!!! I keep buying that one for my daughter for every celebration ( birthday, graduation, holidays, etc)
I avert my eyes at my BF’s stuff too! 🙂
Currently have Bioderma Atoderm shower oil, Shikai Yuzu, Paula’s Choice hair & body shampoo, plus Alaffia Everyday Shea in passion fruit. Am seriously coveting Malie items–a couple of their bar soaps, plus:
https://www.malie.com/collections/body-wash/products/plumeria-body-wash?variant=36217600387
I love the Atoderm shower oil.
I second the Atoderm oil.
I third the Atoderm. It saves me in the winter.
Considering the vintage boxes about my bedroom with too many perfume bottles to count, my allergy to a cluttered shower is a bit rich. But that’s me. One bar of soap, and one shower gel at a time. Shampoo and conditioner. Shower gel is a large bottle of Neutrogena something. It is green. It was in a basket we picked up at a fundraising auction. No idea what it is supposed to smell Ike. It smells clean. I won’t miss it once it is used up. We have a ridiculous shower. It is huge, tiled in precious topaz-colored tiny tiles, with a double shower— yup two shower heads, facing each other! The previous owner of the house definitely had a more exciting errrr ummm shower life than us 😂
Not a scented product, but on a whim I purchased a light blue eye pencil, cheap as chips, from Amazon. I love it. Very 70s and goes on easily. Two strokes with it and I feel made up and like my make up is making a point.
Love the idea of Kohler bringing back colors. But it boggles that Peachblow was a winning choice. It must be my age, but Peachblow reminds me of every bad choice ever made in bathroom interiors from homes, to girls’ toilets at school, to hospital decor. It radiates “you do not want to be here” for me 🚫
Perfume? Waiting for the meds I took for this migraine I woke up with to kick in— if it doesn’t make me nauseous, I’m in the mood for patchouli.
Hope you feel better!! Patchouli is a great remedy
Thank you. I need to go shopping for groceries as we are having guests over this evening, but I am so darn woozy 🥴
Let the supermarket deliver it!!
I share your aversion to that hideous Peachblow color! It’s awful!
And how!
Awful!
That Peachblow color sucks. 🤢🤮
And to think they could have revived “Mamie Pink!” Peachblow is even more discouraging to my vintage-tile loving heart than fifty shades of beige. Rant Over.
Right?
Very random, but when I wrote topaz-colored I had a clear picture in my mind . . . of tiger’s-eye colored 🤦🏻♀️
Lol on your shower life. Hope your migraine is gone soon!
Hope that you were able to shake off the migraine.
Re Koehler colors, I agree with everyone else’s assessment of Peach blow, which I would object to just because of the name (like, did I read that right?) even if I liked the color, which I do not. The Pink Champagne tub in the photo, however, I am all in for. I am in the mood for Boho Maxillamism at the moment – is that spelled right?
I was like, hmm, I don’t *hate* that colour, and then I realized that I needed to click through to see the peach colour, which I agree I hate. Just yuck. Pink champagne stands up for itself, while that peach colour can’t make up its mind as to whether it wants to be beige or not.
Also, yes, the whole female washroom colour thing. The building my spouse works in at his university has similar coloured tile in the women’s washrooms. They leave the doors to the basement washrooms open sometimes, and of course, the men’s tile is blue. I pointed this out to my husband once, and how I found it infantilizing, and he of course had never noticed. 🙂 (It is true he is somewhat colourblind, though.)
In my shower, which also my entire bathroom, including toilet:
Sale body items, because I’m cheap, but I’m also essspensive because I use Briogio hair products. Dirty clothes bag, and finally…the trash can. Yep, in the shower because there’s no other place to put it. If it falls over while moving about, no big disaster. The bathroom is all fiberglass and easy to clean and/or sanitize.
Wearing Fils de Dieu as my Saturday Special Scent.
Happy weekend to all! Stay cool! 😎
You have a shower in the new truck? That’s cool.
Yes, in the camper. It’s tiny but it does the job. 🚿
I still use soap, currently rose and lavender vegetal soaps from Provence and Mysore sandal soap, Fenjal bath oil which is very luxurious and smells good (I also have the body spray) and Original Source creamy vanilla and raspberry shower gel, I’m not sure but I think OS is available in the UK only, never saw it in France.
Prada L’Eau Ambrée to go grocery shopping today and this evening Yves Rocher Petit Beurre which smells of the cookie of the same name.
I see Fenjal also makes a shower gel. So that is a soft white floral, would you say?
Hi everyone, I have the following shower gels: Felce Azzurra classic, Coco Noir, Nuxe Reve de Miel, L’Occitane Citrus Verbena and Rituals – The Ritual of Sleep. There is also an ancient L’Occitane Bonne Mere cube with honey flavor that I save for special moments because it’s discontinued and the honey fragrance is so exquisite.
Forgot to say I am wearing Estee Lauder Radiant Mirage.
The Ritual of Sleep must be nice to have, I should go smell that.
Coming out of the shadows to play along today!
In my shower I have a big bottle of Rose Jam, almost full. Love the smell but finally realized I just prefer bar soap over shower gels.
I had a huge bar of some orange blossom soap that is finally down to a sliver so am excited to open one of the Monsillage soaps I heard about here (Chypre, Vetiver and Violet are the ones I have queued up)
I also have a Coco Noir soap and a Chanel 19 that I’ve been hoarding. Will I ever open that one? Not sure, had it before and loved it but stupidly just want to keep having it!
In other news, I’d obsessed about the Chanel Exclusifs discovery set and eventually caved. I’m very excited and it came yesterday but I keep just looking at it, afraid to take the wrapper off like a weirdo. I kind of want to keep it perfect forever.
Good for you on the discovery set! I’ve eyed that on the Chanel site but it’s always out of stock. I’m taking that as a sign that I wasn’t meant to have it. Enjoy!
Oh, don’t sleep on those Chanel soaps. Use the good stuff, it’s okay!
Second using your Chanel soaps! I have 2 of the Chanel No. 19; I’ve opened one and use it every so often when I use the edt. It’s lovely!
Shampoo: Hinoki-scented from Ten Thousand Waves, a fantastic spa here in Santa Fe
Conditioner: Bread Beauty. I don’t have curly hair (its intended audience) but it smells like Rice Krispie Treats so of course I had to have it! I hate, hate, HATE the packaging though. It comes in a large pouch that insists on falling off the shower ledge, so I just decant it into a plastic travel-size bottle.
Soap: BBW Japanese Cherry Blossom
I love taking baths but can’t use bubble bath as it doesn’t, uh, work well with me, so I just use unscented epsom salts. I light a scented candle (current choice is Voluspa Milk Rose) to make up for it.
I meant to say body wash, not soap.
Also, Bread’s shampoo smells like Froot Loops! I don’t have any of that currently but will pop it in the Sephora cart next time I get something.
I will have to give that a sniff next time I am in Sephora.
I love shower gels and soaps, I have several in my shower.
The ones I love are Le petit Marseillais peach, Le petit Marseillais fleur d’oranger, Byredo Gyspy Water, Mon sillage Violet soap and Miss Dior shower gel.
Can’t wait to hear yours.
I do not like the Yves Rocher Orange Blossom gel, I should try the Petit Marseillais.
I use soaps mostly that I buy on vacation in France on markets mostly. I do have one bottle of Lush mimosa that I like ok and a shower oil and a shower cream by Roger Cavailles. Their products don’t come in particularly pretty packaging but they smell nice and are ver soft on skin.
I love the scent of Rogé Cavaillès products!
Wearing Riviera Verbena today. Yummy.
I’m kind of a one-soap-at-a-time person. For this summer, it’s Blanc Lilas, a gorgeous lilac bar soap. I also have Olay body wash in Strawberry mint that makes me smile. On deck are some Hermes Jardin series soaps a friend gave me. My husband has some gels but I pay no attention to his shelf.
Herbal Essence white grapefruit and mint shampoo. Sometimes I do a second wash with HIF volumizing and leave it in while I shower. I think when I’m finished with the HE, I’ll check in with my niece who found a solid shampoo she likes.
Ooh, I bet those Hermes soaps will be great!
Oh…and the play was great fun. Can’t believe we’d never been to the venue before.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CvAsFF4xTJu/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
So glad!
And wow, that was the view?? Who would notice the play, ha!
Two of the shower products on my shelf I learned about here: Shikai Yuzu gel and Weleda Sea Buckthorn body wash. Then I have a Narciso Rodriguez shower gel that probably has enough for one more shower. It is so thin it runs through my fingers and I’ll be glad when it’s gone, but I put it on my Zakia’s exfoliating mitt and it works fine. I have a giant pump bottle of Tresemme Moisture Rich shampoo that lasts ages and ages because my hair is short and I only use one pump. I’m pretty low maintenance.
Today I’m wearing Kerosene Sacred Memory. I smell incense and gasoline, but the notes are red berries, oak, whiskey, tobacco, amber, and musk! I like it. Let’s see how it develops. But again, I’m not likely to buy a 100ml bottle.
I bought a few of those Luv Scrub things (they appear to be colored fishing net) at Ulta when they were on mark down, and those are my replacement for bath mitts. They do make make lots of suds even with thin gels.
I love the color of that tub.
SotD is Carnal Flower. I had a productive morning. Took a few items to the consignment shop, another load to goodwill, went through the car wash and got some groceries. Now I’ll spend a couple hours in the basement organizing and getting rid of unneeded stuff. Feeling quite accomplished. Plus, now I’ve guaranteed that we will get more rain.
As for the shower, I am quite boring because we always have the same thing in there: Rainbath. I just never get sick of it. I did recently go through a bar of Chandrika Sandal Soap which I liked and it made the bathroom smell amazing.
For hair I currently have Pallure’s SOS shampoo and conditioner. It does smell really great but it doesn’t leave my hair as nice feeling as my Surface Trinity, so when it’s gone I won’t replace it. Unfortunately I bought the liter size so it’ll be awhile. For face I have the new cream cleanser by Skin Rocks. While it does smell good, I don’t like it as well as my Jordan Samuel cleanser, which is unscented.
We are goodwill twins today. I cleaned out my daughter’s closet to make room for some back to school clothes.
Hey twin, I made another drop today!😆 It’s hard to think it is back to school shopping time already.😞
Been dropping off loads at my Goodwill a lot lately, too.
I remodeled my bathtub last year to a proper tiled shower with a 3-shelf niche, and I treated myself to refillable amber glass bottles, which I use for body wash and shampoo, and a teak soap holder, which right now has Aegean camel’s milk soap. My hair is short so I don’t generally use conditioner, but I have a tub of Christophe Robin prickly pear hair mask, which I need to finish up!
The third shelf is another glass bottle for BF’s head n shoulders, plus his razor, toothbrush and toothpaste. He works in a senior living facility, and often brings home cast-offs from the residents: shampoo, skincare, soaps, body wash, cleaning products, food,… anything. We’re very lucky to get a lot of stuff for free.
I do love Lush and ShiKai and all that stuff, but I’ve learned that the clutter just gives me anxiety, and I’ve really pared down over the years.
I love those kinds of shower shelves! I have my crazy collection of gels on a ledge above the fiberglass shower, where occasionally one or more of them fall on my toes 🙂
I’ve got the same very boring report as previous years – Lux soap, low irritant moisturising skin wash, Matrix shampoo and conditioner. That leaves more money to splurge on other things 🙂
👍
Currently I have two shower gels in my shower: The very last dregs of a small bottle of LUSH Rose Jam, and a bottle of Korres Guava. No soap, since my water is very hard, and I don’t like the scrubbing that comes with soap scum. I have other shower gels that aren’t currently in the shower waiting their turn.
Three shampoos that I rotate thru: Aveda Shampure, Aveda Rosemary Mint, and Bumble & Bumble Surf Foam Wash.
I have a single conditioner from Frederic Fekkai, the Glossing Conditioner that I am pretty sure is discontinued. It’s a shame, because it is perfect on the ends of my hair now that I have longer hair. No more tangles!
I also have Frederic Fekkai Salon Glaze Clear Shine Rinse. Makes my hair soft and shiny without adding any extra color to my highlights. Another sadly discontinued haircare gem, IIRC.
SOTD = back in a couple sprays of SB St. Tropez Dispenser/Gold.
I’m taking a shower at your house lol
Nice to see you wearing fragrance again!!
Ha!
Thanks. I am not wearing perfume every day, but at least I can contemplate wearing it some of the time now.
I always liked the smell of Frédéric Fekkai. ( my phone added the fancy spelling. Lol)
Your phone is smarter than my laptop! 🤣🤣🤣
I remember having a Frederic Fekkai glossing styling product that smelled so good!
I love the Aveda Rosemary Mint shampoo. So good!
The Fekkai stuff plays very nicely with my Aveda shampoos. Gonna be a bit of a bummer when that is gone.
Forgot to mention that my summer face cleanser is Korres Greek Yogurt Foaming Cream Cleanser. Works great in warmer/hot weather.
My cold weather face cleanser is Fresh Soy Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser.
Good thread! Hubby has sensitive skin, more than mine, even, so we have lots of products to switch up depending on the feeling! I have Dr. Teal’s Pink Himalayan Body Wash, (good for after a sweaty working in the dirt/mud shower), Nivea Nourishing Body Wash with Serum (hub’s daily go to), Rose Jam, Amazing Grace Body Wash, and Mirai Purifying Body wash with Persimmon and Green Tea. Also Old Spice Timber shampoo/conditioner, (which smells great and we both use), Olaplex #4P Purple Shampoo for grey hair, Garnier Fructis Green Apple Residue removing Shampoo and Conditioner, Pureology Strength Cure Shampoo and Conditioner, and a pale yellow solid conditioning bar that smells like coconut and does a great job of conditioning my hair- I have no recall of the name. Also Dove Men+Care bar for Sensitive skin (hubby’s favorite!), Yardley Almond bath bar, and a tiny sliver of a Peter Thomas Roth Facial bar that I brought home from whatever hotel has these, because it smells the way I wish I could make everything in my world smell, and it is wonderfully gentle on my face. Don’t know what I will replace it with when it is gone. I would say everything in that list gets used at least once a week, but it does seem like a lot!
Have you tried Sephora for the Peter Thomas Roth facial bar?
It seems it was some special release for whatever hotel chain was carrying it! It’s not on thPTR site, but I see odd lots for sale on EBay…probably just going to move on…
I’ve avoided shower gels for a year because a slippery tile floor is just too dangerous for me, but have recently felt more sturdy so have begun using them a bit. I only have two: the recently acquired Delina, and a bottle of Moulton Brown Orange and Neroli which was a gift.
Today I planned to wear Fils de Dieu to join in with Deva but I’ve hidden my bottle from myself. So I decided on Jacobo #8 which is spicy and nice.
Selina Shower gel? That sounds nice!
Delina! Stupid spell check…. Lol!
Yes, I got this in my splurge at Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale as part of a three-part gift box along with the perfume and an oil. They’re all nice!
SOTD Atelier Cologne Cedre Atlas.

Happy Weekend! 🌞
I’m going to break my self-imposed shower gel no-buy if I see the Dove items! That body cream sounds wonderful!
I’m trying to not overload my tub area with products like I have done before. For shower gels, I’ve got a large bottle of Vitabath original Spring Green. I hardly use it, but it reminds me of Clinique Wrappings; it’s slightly forest-y to my nose. Should use it more because I also have the matching lotion. I also have a bar of Dove soap, white version, that’s in current use. My Chanel No. 19 soap has it’s own separate holder and gets used when I wear No. 19 edt.
In my closet stash of gels, there’s Lush Ginger, a mini of Korres jasmine, Bronze Goddess and Chanel Paris-Venise, plus tons of others. Hence a self-imposed no-buy on shower stuff. The bottles of gel last forever! I also have a healthy stash of bar soaps. Hubby uses Ivory soap, so I won’t argue. At least he doesn’t use my good stuff!
For shampoo and conditioner, I’m using L’Occitane repairing shampoo and conditioner. I also have a bottle of Joico moisture recovery conditioner and a bottle of Alba Botanica colorific shampoo that get used interchangeably with the L’Occitane.
I too have a Paris-Venise gel, tucked away until the day I really need to break out the luxury. In the meantime, I am using perfectly nice Yves Rocher gels in Cotton Flower Mimosa and a Lotus concentrate.
SOTD = Goldfield and Banks Ingenious Ginger
I’ve decided to go with the CP today. It reminds me of apsara!
I went into NYC today, pretty much the first time on a Saturday since March 2020. Of course I may have forgotten the last time I went on a weekend but there you have it. I joined Jessica in her Art and Aroma at the Met: 18th Century France. Wonderful 90-minute talk, with pre-dipped blotters, plastic jars of smellies and of course her expert talk! It was a beautiful day as well so I walked to the Met from NY Penn aaaaaand I saw a former co-worker of mine which made the day even more wonderful!
Now onto the bath products. I will only talk about what I’m using now because otherwise I will have a really really long list.
Hair – Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo and Cleansing Oil Conditioner (hopefully, Sephora will have this back!); also Lush Candy Rain
Shower Bar Soap – Trader Joe’s Oatmeal and Honey (came in a two-pack)
Shower Gel – Native Candy Shop and Lush Good Karma
Body Spray – B&BW Orange and Sandalwood; the other ones, all Lush, live outside but I use them too
Hand soap – B&BW foamy soap in Looking Sharp (Island Margarita). I rotate this twice in the 2 other bathrooms as they are not equally utilized
I do scrape the shower tiles and doors after every shower and spray with Clean Shower Daily Shower Cleaner (after I spray, I leave the light and dehumidifier on for 10-15 minutes).
I definitely would like to get another small bottle of the LUSH Good Karma shower gel!
I’m also following the cp for last week. I wore Saint Julep yesterday because of Robin’s post on the IA sample set. Today I started out with Orange Sanguine and added A Lab on Fire L’Anonyme. They played pretty well together!
My shower contents stay more or less the same. My shower gels are Shikai Yuzu, Field and Future Lavender & Vanilla (an H‑E‑B brand for you Texans), Necessaire Body Exfoliator in Bergamot (from a fab swap with a fab NSTer), a bar of Fzotic Honey Cedar soap from another fab NSTer, a Target branded apricot scrub and a little freebie B&BW Stress Relief shower gel which I will use up this week.
My shampoo is Hers, which is supposed to help with hair loss (unsure if this is doing any good or not), Kristin Ess leave-in conditioner spray and the odd Pantene and Acure clarifying shampoo.
I did go to Marshall’s this morning and found a lovely rose shower gel and another one that smells like powdery iris. I can’t wait to break into those! 🌹❤️
I am thinking ShiKai Yuzu is the most widely owned here!
I would love a powdery iris shower gel, who makes your new one?
It’s made in Italy: Bluma Bagnoschiuma body wash in Iris Blu. It was on clearance, so I hope you can find it.
I do not use shower products as often as I used to (nowadays I often shower with plain water), but I have plenty of shower products back from the days I was a big shower product junkie. Everything was bought before February 2022.
Currently in the bathroom:
Shower gels:
Lush Rad Dad (same scent as Fresh As) – almost gone
Yope Kwiat Lipy (supposed to smell of linden blossom, but I only get grass and leaves from it)
Soap bars (used as hand soap):
Future Primitive Soap Palo Santo (sweet woody scent) – almost gone
European Soaps Rose Petal (lovely rose scent!)
Hair care, but the scents are strong, so I might as well mention them:
Future Primitive Soap The Ghost of Witley Court whipped cream soap (used as a shampoo, violet scented)
Lush American Cream hair conditioner
That’s too bad about the Yope Kwiat Lipy…I had to google it because I would love a good linden shower gel.
I keep just two shower gels and one bar of soap in the shower. But I have a good size backup stash. 😉 Right now I’ve got ShiKai Yuzu and just started on Bath & Body Works Sun-Ripened Raspberry. I just finished a bottle of their Brown Sugar & Fig, which was a nostalgic delight.
I have kind of a funny question for those who use ShiKai shower gels. Have you ever noticed their shower gels have pretty faint scent for the first 30-40% of the bottle and then the smell intensifies after that? It happened with my Sandalwood shower gel recently and seems to be the case with Yuzu too, at least that it’s definitely faintly scented on the outset. I hope the smell gets stronger soon. I do really like their formula though.
My bar soap is Soap Distillery Bloody Mary, which I’m really enjoying but was recently discontinued. It’s got sun dried tomato powder plus these notes: cucumber blossoms, celery seed, lemon, sage, and basil. I really like this particular soap formula. It’s really sudsy and moisturizing. Soap Distillery recently had a big sale before doing a brand refresh so I did a big stock up. I might keep going with them since their bars are a small 4oz and get used up quickly. I’ve also got that new limited edition Fzotic Limonata on deck and a chamomile soap that was a freebie from Black Labdanum when I bought a bunch of candles from them some months back.
Huh. I have not noticed that with the ShiKai, but maybe I am not paying enough attention? I wonder if they do not stay adequately mixed in the bottle?
That’s what I think is the case. We’ll see if my bottle of Yuzu starts smelling stronger soon.
Doused myself in New Musk Hair and Body spray. I just ordered six more of these because they are half off plus I have a coupon code. They make great gifts.
Added the Dove bar soap in oatmeal and rice to the shower. Enabler pin goes to pl67 as I literally just bought it this morning
Pacifica has 25 percent off fragrances with code FRAGRANCE25
Dame ten percent off code is JD102023
And there are quite a few full bottles that are half off
I reduced the stuff in my shower, so now just two shower gels (B&BW At the Beach and Salt Spring Soap Works Rhubarb) plus a generic bottle of shampo9 & conditioner and Tatcha face cleaner. Husband has Averno lavender body wash that is quite nice.
I do not know Salt Spring but the reviews for the rhubarb are great, do you love it?
It’s good but not spectacular.
Thanks.
Currently in the shower:
Rogé Cavaillès bar of soap
Remains of a bar of Tauer Gardenia Glycerin soap
Korres Jasmine body wash
Oscar Blandi jasmine shampoo (makes my fine hair a little too soft)
Does anyone have a favorite jasmine scented shampoo?
I wish that Lush made a Revive (formerly R&B) shampoo because I love that orange blossom/jasmine combo
I love Korres Jasmine.
No suggestion for a jasmine scented shampoo, but I love the Korres Jasmine shower gel. That’s in the Bodycare Stash!
Two words: Rose Jam
I’ve tried other things but I’m very picky with shower scents and so I keep coming back to this. I’ve also been using for many years One With Nature peppermint bar soap. Does the job and refreshing.
Did some sniffing yesterday while out and about. Popped in Bergdorf and Saks and found two scents I really liked and will seek out samples to spend more time with. One was Soie Malaquais by Dries Van Noten which is a really lovely amber with chestnut and cacao notes, and the most gorgeous bottle. Would be perfect for fall.
The other is Pacific Chill by LV. It’s a power citrus with mint and basil but other interesting notes such as date, fig and ambrette in the base. Love it for summer!
Of course both are $300+ each and only one size 🙁
SOTD: a dab of the Van Noten which the sales gal kindly made me a 3ml sample of
I have gone a long time without Rose Jam now and will probably buy some soon 🙂
Nothing new today to report in my shower. Stopping by to say hi and report SotD Insolence edt, from the “Crazy Touch” 2014 edition. I would like an Insolence shower gel, so I may look into that. *Scented waves* to Gail, who I know shares my love of Insolence! I forget who else at NST is a fan, but y’all are out there.
*waving back*! You smell great today!
Got sample order from Luckyscent and SOTD is Giardini Toscana Shabby Chic. I get floral musk from this one and it reminds my of Byredo Blanche that came in my Byredo sample set from a few months back. Both are pleasant, unobtrusive but not sure worth a purchase.
My shower:
Soap is Kirks Castile. I grew up with Ivory and like having understated soaps. And husband is not a fan of scented soaps and he uses the shower more than the tub.
Shampoo – Lately, I alternate between Bondi HG shampoo, which has a nice herbal smell and Shea Moisture baby shampoo.
Conditioner – Not Your Mothers Smooth Moves. I am blessed with a lot of frizz.
Husband uses Head and Shoulders or Suave.
Tub is where I have my scented products
Soap – currently a scented soap from BBW, don’t remember the type but it was from the men’s line. I was absolutely thrilled they now have soaps.
Shower gels – I use just a small squirt to scent the water – BBW Capri ( lemon/green), Oasis, Bamboo and Surf – all from the men’s line.
I have a collection of small scented soaps and one bar of Chanel No. 5 waiting their turn. I am trying to use soap primarily because I appreciate the fact that I don’t have to recycle any plastic packaging.
I ought to go back to soaps for that same reason.
Apologies for my absence this weekend!Between work and some fun times it’s already.Sunday 10:35pm!
Deva!We indeed were twinsies in Fils de Dieu!Made me so happy to wear it again after a looong stretch of not doing so!Happiness in a bottle.

Picking the newly released Jacques Fath L’Iris de Fath edp up this Friday, and I cannot wait!Shall report back!
Showergel:Badedas showergel and a vinolia sandalwood barsoap. Two current staples in my shower!
Happy Sunday eve!
XO’s
So happy to hear Eau Rihla is good, I have not loved a new Diptyque in a long time!
Hope you did not work too much this weekend J.
Thanks,it was unusually busy, but luckily the Ophthalmologist I was on standby with,is my favorite dr!
The Diptyque is not something we’ve never smelled before, but still very well done.(If I have to compare,it’s “Portrait of a Lady Light”…✌🏻😉🌹
Happy Sunday afternoon to you all! ☀️ It’s a beautiful day here, with the humidity less than it had been.
I’m back in ffern Summer 23 for an easy, summer fragrance. Unfortunately, I can’t smell anything after the first sniff, because my case of Covid came back, and away went taste and smell. Except after the first spritz or taste. Which is weird. I think I got rebound Covid from the paxlovid I took. 🙁 So I ended up putting too much on, and I was told that I could be smelled all the way downstairs, lol! Good thing I was going outside only. 😁
In my shower/tub is another new scented love, Olverum bath oil. I’ve been taking more baths lately, and this stuff is fantastic! It’s very herbal and green; smells like a spa. It’s quite expensive, but my jaw dropped when I read the instructions: 1/3 capful per use! So it lasts a long time. And doesn’t leave a huge oil slick in the tub or on the skin. I never want to be without this.
I still have a basketful of soaps, which which started way back when Kevin raved about them in a review. Namely, Nesti Dante. So far, my favorite is Pine in winter and Broom in summer. I also love Monsillage soaps, especially Chypre. Good all year! Since a couple people posted about the Violet, I see that there is still one more that I might have to add to my collection. And the beat goes on.
I hope you get better soon!
Thanks, lillyjo!
I’ve been hearing of a few rebounds from Paxlovid. I hope you can kick it for good soon!
I’m so curious about the Monsillage soaps, it’s been mentioned several times.
Thanks, tulipani! The scents are great, although I don’t find them particularly moisturizing. Worth it anyway, though.
Sorry to hear that you have a rebound case of COVID. Hope that it doesn’t stick around for long!
Thanks so much, Jalapeno!
Well drat. Is it very mild, or do you feel crap all over again?
It’s pretty mild, thanks, Robin. 🩷
Oh good.
Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks, J B! 😊
For the Last few years I have felt irresponsible recylcing those shower gel bottles, so started using bar soap. My favorites are the ones from Imaginary authors. The scent lasts through the whole bar. I will read here for other soap recs. I do need Sticky Dates so when it gets cold here, will get a big bottle of that.
Sticky Dates is lovely, although I never use it straight up (I mix it with other gels).
I always love the shower poll!
I’ve also been using bar soaps for the past couple of years, trying to avoid plastic when it’s easy to do so (shampoo bars have not worked as easily). I usually get the Trader Joe’s oatmeal and honey soap or Pacha soaps at Whole Foods. But recently I splurged on a giant bar of SMN Melograno bath soap, deeply discounted, and LOVED IT. Too bad I probably won’t allow myself to splurge at full price.
For my hair, I’ve been happy with Dove dandruff shampoos for awhile now. And for conditioner, I’m not picky. It’s usually Trader Joe’s hair mask, Christophe Robin’s prickly pear mask, or whatever random GWP or travel sizes that have come my way.
I have not tried the Melograno soap but the other SMN bath products I’ve tried have all been lovely.
Good morning, everyone!! I have tried and tried to login but I am so busy and it scarily showed me less and less attempts left… I just changed my password now…
So here I am.
In my shower is always one of the Ogx coconut or argan oil shampoo + conditioner. A fresh shower loofah. And lately EVERY time some kind of pricey – because made by a perfume house – shower gel. I kind of have an obsession with shower gels. Not bar soaps, not even shampoos but shower gels. So in my shower I just used up a full bottle of Miller Harris Tea Tonique shower gel. But not to worry I already had a bottle of The Merchant of Venice Elecriso y Tamerice shower gel waiting to be next which I opened the last couple of days ago. Lovely stuff.
The last couple of months I have been ordering so many Creed perfumes, travel sprays (the leather ones), samples and decants. I have a quite an impressive Creed collection and always have a beautiful travel atomizer from Creed full of Green Asian Tea in my purse. Have also been drowning myself in Love in White and Aventus for Her. Also I am very excited about my bottle of Guerlain Winter Delice arriving hopefully today!! I am totally obsessed with Creed perfumes, and Guerlain Bee Bottles and Aqua Allegories.
Dove Sensitive Skin body wash. Sounds boring, but I love its (light) scent.
