From Santa Maria Novella, Dentifricio Fior d'Iris / Iris toothpaste: "Toothpaste with a fresh aromatic flavor. It contains ireos powder, known since antiquity for its astringent and abrasive properties. The aroma of costmary gives the toothpaste a singular, minty-spicy taste while refreshing and deodorizing the mouth." Can you taste the iris? Is it delicious? I have no idea. $20 for 60g at Smallflower.

Oh, dear! I am very curious about this! Talk about rounding out your Iris immersion experience!
Exactly. But it might just taste like costmary, and I don’t even know what costmary tastes like.
The Frederic Malle Iris Hand Cream is divine.
I want to try this! I was surprised by how much I love my Marvis Jasmine Mint, which I have to admit I bought for the highly decorative lavender and silver tube.
I love too many Marvis toothpastes! And even my regular toothpaste is now a hard-to-find Japanese thing. So I probably need to go back to Crest 😉
I only use Marvis as a treat, in order to conserve the expensive tube, and also I think it might be a bit more abrasive than the regular brands.
You’re probably right about Crest. I remember Luca (Chemist in a Bottle) recommending drugstore brands of lotions and moisturizers as just as good as or better that the luxury brands, in terms of effectiveness of the ingredients.
Sort of the same here…I use Marvis / Lebon a few times a week, for fun. It is not my regular toothpaste. I do really love the Black Forest flavor. If I ever use up my current stash of fun toothpastes, I will try to get travel sizes of the Marvis tea trio.
I do love my Japanese toothpaste though, Apagard, which is what I use most of the time.
Oh, Black Forest was very fun. I also liked the Rhubarb flavor, don’t remember the full name.
I’m in Italy and Marvis is a bargain! I’m bringing some home as little gifts and for me.
If it’s been a while, you may find Crest too sweet. It’s what I used into my thirties, then had to switch to Sensodyne. Now I cannot bear the sweetness of Crest.
BTW, I was wondering if it was really the scent of the iris *flower* as opposed to the root? I found that SMN also sells the ireos powder separately as an exfoliant, and it is made from the roots:

Oh interesting. I will have to read that later, about to hop in car and leave town.
Very tempting! I may order it this weekend.
I would search for reviews first! I did not have time this morning.
Sort of, kind of related to this: I saw a few Marvis toothpastes the last time I went to Wegmans. So for the NSTers near one, check yours!
Ah, interesting! Wonder if they have the new tea ones.
Sounds intriguing but doesn’t seem to have fluoride? Living in a place without fluoridated water, the fluoride is key…
Marvis Gingermint is a staple for me and has been for years. Thankfully, now that I’m in the EU, I can find it for about 4€ for the large tube.
