Niche line Escentric Molecules line has introduced a second set of variations on 2005's Molecule 01 (Iso E Super): Molecule 01 + Black Tea, Molecule 01 + Guaiac Wood and Molecule 01 + Ginger. (The first set was Molecule 01 + Patchouli, Molecule 01 + Iris and Molecule 01 + Mandarin.)
Iso E Super is an abstract synthetic molecule characterised as a cedarwood note with a warm, velvety cocooning sensation.
All three fragrances were developed by perfumer and brand founder Geza Schoen, who explains below:
Molecule 01 + Black Tea ~ “There’s not only one black tea in the world. I wanted to bring out the various facets of this complex aroma to make my own accord using an extract of black tea as an infusion together with a maté tea absolute. What I love about black tea is its subtlety. The way the airiness plays against the earthiness and the bitter, fresh notes play against the floral aspect, all with a light touch.”
Molecule 01 + Guaiac Wood ~ “Guaiac wood has the smokiness and aromatic quality of a great whisky together with a creamy warmth. It has a gentle 'cocooning around the fireplace in winter’ feel to it. It’s like emulsified smoke that melts into the Iso E Super to make a skin-scent that is super-sexy and erogenous.”
Molecule 01 + Ginger ~ “What’s striking about ginger is how it combines freshness and spiciness in one ingredient. I’ve always loved that, when I smelt this new `ginger oil fresh’ from the Ivory Coast, I knew I had to do Molecule + Ginger. It’s so clean, so pure, with a sharp effervescent quality that plays beautifully in the landscape of Molecule 01.”
Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 + Black Tea, Molecule 01 + Guaiac Wood and Molecule 01 + Ginger are available at Saks Fifth Avenue, in 100 ml Eau de Toilette, $145 each. (Smaller sizes and discovery sets might be still to come.)

My first thought was a potential tag line: ”Now with TWO ingredients!”
LOL!! That is excellent.
Before long, they’ll have a whole perfume!
😂
Ooooooh, spicy! And funny!
Lol! This brand really annoys me. They literally diluted one (non-expensive) aroma chemical into alcohol and called it perfume. You could make hundreds of bottles for the price of one of theirs. Now they’re making people pay another $145 for one extra note? This is not perfume. This is a scam.
Totally agree.
