Italian niche line Laboratorio Olfattivo has launched Arancia Rossa, a new fragrance joining the Viaggio in Italia collection. Arancia Rossa was developed by perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena.
«Bergamot is elegant, lemon is energetic, mandarin is cheerful. Orange is sunny and ironic. In the Italian city of Ivrea, not far from Turin, a battle of oranges is the highlight of the annual carnival celebrations. In 1801 oranges became a symbol of military defeat when Prince Manuel Godoy y Álvarez de Faria sent a basket of these fruits to his mistress the Queen to celebrate the victory of Spain over Portugal. Only to take their revenge by bearing the name of Portugal for many years after that in the perfume industry. The oranges extoled and sold by merchants accompany the tragic end of Carmen in Bizet’s homonymous opera. But my favourite story is a Christmas one. In December, oranges are a gift of light, a message hinting to the end of winter, rebel fruits wearing the colour of summer». Jean-Claude Ellena
A fruit so juicy and carnal as to be linked, in the collective imagination, to battles and celebrations. As popular and earthly in our memories, as it is elegant and sophisticated in olfactory compositions.
The notes include blood orange, orange blossom, passion fruit and white musk.
Laboratorio Olfattivo Arancia Rossa is available in 100 ml "Parfum Cologne".

Thank you Robin, this might be great for summer and JCE’s style is always noteworthy in my book.
I have not tried any of his scents for LO, and I should.
I love the fragrance of orange. I definitely agree that orange is sunny–I’m not quite sure I get orange is ironic? Because they became a symbol of military defeat?
I have no idea.
I wonder if it’s a typo for “iconic.”
Oh, could be.
Huh????
This is pretty confused or confusing.
“The oranges extoled and sold by merchants accompany the tragic end of Carmen in Bizet’s homonymous opera.”
Where did she come in all of a sudden!?
No idea!
Do suspect they use a machine translation.
This sounds really pretty! But that marketing copy, what a stretch. 🙄
Blood Orange and JCE? OMG 😱, be still my ❤️! First scent I’ve seen in a long time that called out to me!
I have samples of Limone, Bergamotto and Mandarino and I like them all! Don’t expect long lasting effect from these though, they are almost like soliflores and in JCE’s typical style they are transparant and gone quickly. Like I said, I like them a lot but don’t need a full bottle (right now). Very interested in trying the new as well, although they are very hard to find here in Belgium.
Ellena’s work on for this line has been fantastic, really some of the most crisp and fresh citruses out there. The bergamot was phenomenal. However, the impression lasts only minutes. Just not worth it to me.
I see they have a sample set of JCE’s line. I’d been curious to try that.
I think the new one is not (yet) included in that one.
Looks like they will send you the 4th sample if you order the set directly from LO, but they are currently sold out.
