Italian niche line Acqua di Parma has launched Zafferano, a new Harrods-exclusive addition to the Signatures of the Sun collection.
A wonderful celebration of saffron.
Zafferano – a quality of saffron cultivated in Iran – is more endearingly known as ‘red gold’ due to the arduous harvesting process that’s carried out to acquire it. Acqua di Parma takes this much-loved spice to the next level in the form of this eau de parfum, interjecting the warmth and dryness with luminous citrus. It doesn’t stop there, however; before it settles, expect to meet gentle white florals and a woody, vanilla-tinted base – notes that blend together to result in an unforgettable interpretation of saffron.
Additional notes include bergamot, mandarin, coriander, bitter orange, jasmine, geranium, rose, orange blossom and tonka bean.
Acqua di Parma Zafferano is available at Harrods, $232 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Update: in 2023 Zafferano went into wider distribution as part of the regular Acqua di Parma collection.
While I yearn for saffron coziness, AP as a whole has not worked for me, so it’s just as well that it’s an exclusive
Other than Iris Nobile EdT, which they no longer make, I’ve never been tempted to buy one either.
I’m finishing the last of my Iris Nobile shower cream, I’ll be sad when it’s gone.
I don’t know but am guessing it is from the EdP, which they still make.
Wait Iris Nobile is gone?? Oof. I guess I kind of follow your pattern of wanting to buy a perfume until it goes away and takes away the temptation.
NO, only the EdT which came first…the EdP came after and was very different but much more popular.
Ooooh ok. If I am honest, I am not sure which one I sniffed and liked 🙂 oh well.
Thank you Robin, I think the notes look interesting, perhaps worth a sniff, there aren’t so many saffron forward scents, apart from l’Artisan and Calligraphy Saffron and a Néréides I have, Oriental Lumpur.
I do like the L’Artisan one but it’s probably changed since I smelled it.
