Van Cleef & Arpels has launched Patchouli Blanc, a new addition to the brand′s Collection Extraordinaire.
Light and airy reinterpretation of a crystal-clear patchouli, Patchouli Blanc is the third “white wood” fragrance of the Collection.
“I felt like recreating the feeling of soft, enveloping cashmere; I wanted the fragrance to translate the idea of tender, cottony wood with a literally irresistible clean smell. That’s why I started by choosing a very specific, sheer and floral fraction of patchouli.” Jérôme Epinette, Perfumer.
Additional notes for the woody musky fragrance include pink pepper, aldehydes, rose, cashmere woods and white musks.
Van Cleef & Arpels Patchouli Blanc is available in 75 ml Eau de Parfum, €150.

Choosing a clear and floral fraction of patchouli sounds weird to me. Is there such a thing as “clear” patchouli? really?
Well, most patchouli fractions are nearly nothing like straight up patchouli. (Also true that almost nobody uses straight up patchouli these days.) I’m sure their point is that they’ve used a particularly light one, and presumably with some floral undertones. Did not sound weird to me really.
I had sort of the same reaction. What is that, a fraction of patouchli that I wouldn’t know was patouchli except for the name? And then it has pink pepper, aldehydes, rose and musks, to smell like things I do recognize? Sorry to be so grumpy. Make it smells really lovely…
I understand the annoyance, but honestly, most brands just don’t say they’re using a fraction…but nearly all of them are.
(Tom Ford did a white patchouli too, I’m remembering now…it also left out the nasty bits.)
I sold my Tom Ford White patchouli. I like some patchouli in my patchouli fragrance. I may find this too light as well. I love Chanel Coromandel. Nearly perfect.
