Louis Vuitton has launched Les Extraits Collection, with five fragrances: Cosmic Cloud, Dancing Blossom, Rhapsody, Stellar Times and Symphony. The packaging features a bottle design by architect Frank Gehry.
Frank Gehry, one of the greatest architects of all time, designs his first perfume bottle. He began with Marc Newson’s original bottle, stretching the lines into curves. From his sculptural flourish emerges a transparent veil that appears to float in the air. The bottle is topped with a precious hand-polished metal cap like the splash of an airy, imaginary flower.
Cosmic Cloud ~ "A monochrome of musks radiate in interstellar space.... To illustrate this interactive sensory deep-dive, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud conceived a nectar of musks. Their many powdery, fruity facets linger endlessly against the skin. Constituting a surprisingly daring choice in the world of high perfumery, a seductive caress sweetened by the chocolate-coated almond notes of tonka bean."
Dancing Blossom ~ "A swirl of petals in a hanging garden...The exquisitely precious Grasse rose unfurls its majestic splendour, while Sambac jasmine and Indian tuberose embellish the composition with their fleshy beauty. Chinese osmanthus complements the bouquet with its fruity apricot inflection. An extraordinarily prolific swirl of petals, a colourful yet subtle bouquet of sweeping emotions."
Rhapsody ~ "The sophistication of chypre illuminates the infinite horizon...Radiant Jasmine grandiflorum mingles with ylang ylang to transfigure patchouli and wreathe it in light. Woody notes and vetiver intensify the structure for chiaroscuro relief, while fresh, clear maté intensifies the verdant character of this exquisitely crafted perfume. The quintessence of elegance."
Stellar Times ~ "An amber odyssey through time and space....Shimmering scents inspire colourful visions, surging forth on the emanations of a transfigured amber accord. A golden palace in the sky, filled with orange blossom that whirls on its effervescent freshness. Soft, woody white amber whispers the mysteries of nights in a foreign land and the beauty of dreams. The delicious vanilla notes of Peru balsam add a finishing touch to this fragrance mirage, a beautiful escape on the magic carpet of dreams. A major Oriental composition, completely reinvented in zero gravity."
Symphony ~ "Intense freshness sparkles at the heart of a fantasy island...This is the first fragrance composition exploring endless freshness with a dazzling trail. The sweet piquancy of fresh ginger zest in a cocktail of grapefruit, bergamot and orange. Fruity, velvety, scintillating roundness offers everlasting refreshment. A radiant vibration, a sensual score with facetted notes to accompany the melody of a wakening world."
Louis Vuitton Les Extraits Cosmic Cloud, Dancing Blossom, Rhapsody, Stellar Times and Symphony are available in 100 ml, $530, refillable.

To be honest none of these sound like they’re worth $500+, but, as usual, I guess I’m not the target market.
Also crazy how many new fragrances the release every year… what I like though is that LV is usually very generous with samples, unlike Chanel e.g.
Ditto. Don’t care about any of these. Then again I have not been interested in any of the LV so who knows, maybe I am missing something.
The caps look like crinkled up gum wrappers to me. I don’t see like I used to though, lol.
Lol I almost inhaled my cocoa when reading this. For 500 bucks..I get something named Cosmic Cloud? And “nectar” musks that radiate in space? Count me out.
The cap is interesting, but in the end I am not sure I love it.
Why only 100 mL size? For perfume lovers that’s just wasteful.
I do not know if they plan to do other sizes, but in general I don’t think they are geared towards perfume lovers.
I had not thought of that. Yes, it seems all too likely that even if it is a good fragrance, the company is only shoring up the brand with fill in the blank luxury items for all occasions.
It feels like they are releasing a lot. Their bottles are great, but I have been really underwhelmed by the juice.
The first set of scents had a couple interesting ones, but all the latest releases have been so lackluster I don’t even care about trying more.
