Mandy Aftel is reopening her Aftel Archive of Curious Scents at the end of this month (it's been closed since last March), and she has a fun new product for serious sampling: the AromaCone. "Our ScentCatcher AromaCone is a scent amplifier that acts like a magnifying glass for your nose. This elegant device focuses the aromas under it and creates a denser stream of odor molecules for you to smell. The AromaCone also maintains "nasal distancing" as part of a contact-free smelling experience. It provides a safe separation between you and what you are smelling, and from the other noses that smelled it before you. Inspired by an original suggestion from Becky Saletan." The pricing is insane for what is essentially rolled up blotter strips…
But it’s an “Aromacone”! ?
I don’t think it’s insane — they look really nice to me, and much nicer and more functional than rolled up blotter strips. But whether you personally need or want to spend $40 on them, of course, is another matter!
Back in the day when I was seriously ordering and smelling tons of raw materials, these would have been lovely to have. Now, it would not be a necessity.
Lesson learnt! I guess there is much that I don’t know or appreciate. I shouldn’t have dismissed them so quickly… 😛
