Niche line Mark Buxton Perfumes has introduced the Freedom collection, with four new fragrances: I Want, To Break, Free and Why Not A Cologne.
For his Freedom collection, Mark Buxton, a perfumer combining English chic and rock energy, is inspired by music. The four new fragrances take up Queen's famous song "I Want To Break Free". His bottles with their baroque and punk spirit reflect the thrilling emotion present in each of his creations. For Mark, a fragrance should be like a good jazz song, vibrant and harmonious. Three fetish ingredients, vetiver, ambergris and davana, are used in each of the fragrances, for a meticulously balanced result.
I Want ~ "I Want distinguishes itself from other chypre fragrances by its intense and sparkling fruity touch of red berries and blackcurrant in the top notes. The heart of white flowers of neroli, iris, jasmine, magnolia and tuberose melts into modern woody and green notes thanks to vetiver. The result is fruity and intensely woody, making the fragrance addictive." Additional notes include green apple, mandarin, peach, rhubarb, strawberry leaf, amber, cashmere wood, musk, oakmoss, patchouli and vanilla.
To Break ~ "To break is the most concentrated ambergris fragrance in the world of perfume. This rare ingredient, a favorite of Mark's, evokes the scents of tobacco and musk, allowing the fragrance to stick to the skin. The gourmand opening of pineapple, apple and peach melts into a heart as floral as it is spicy. Cedar, paired with ambergris in the drydown, gives the fragrance a woody and musky spirit. The result is an intensely powerful fragrance, bringing the wearer a desire for liberation." Additional notes include bergamot, clove, nutmeg, berries, freesia, magnolia, orris, ambrette, musk and sandalwood.
Free ~ "Free is a creation by David Chieze, Mark Buxton's right-hand man. He imagined a woody oriental fragrance, taking an interest in the vast and fascinating world of incense. The fragrance opens with delicate fruity notes of pineapple and mandarin orange and the spicy notes of nutmeg and black pepper. The base of amber, patchouli, sandalwood and cardamom brings the fragrance a powerful character that sticks to your skin. The perfect balance of the fragrance plunges you into an impression of total lightness and freedom." Additional notes include bergamot, clove, freesia, vanilla and vetiver.
Why Not A Cologne ~ "Why Not a Cologne is an eau de Cologne that differs from all the classic Colognes. The fragrance is modernized by the surprising presence of red apple, magnolia and pineapple. The floral heart of jasmine, rose and neroli is balanced by the woody base of cedar, moss and vetiver, complemented by the power of ambergris. An explosive fragrance for an unexpected and harmonious result. So... why not a Cologne ?" Additional notes include basil, bergamot, mandarin and castoreum.
