Are you ready for solid dish soap? (I'm not sure I am.) "Ecological & zero plastic waste Andrée Jardin presents their green Sage Basil Solid Dish washing soap With Marseille soap made from organic olive oil, vinegar and natural scents, it deeply cleans and degreases dishes, while being gentle on the skin. Its high content of vegetable raw materials makes it a product that does not leave chemical residues on the dishes. Rub a damp sponge or brush directly on the solid soap bar to create a lather and scrub away at your glassware and dishes." $13.50 for 250g at Hampton Court, where they also have it in Pink Grapefruit or Lemon Mint.

Sure, I’m ready. I’m definitely ready for ways to decrease all the plastics in the world so I’ll try it!
I wish more d/w liquid came in some sort of non-plastic refill…
Once upon a time, everyone cleaned with a variation of Marseilles soap; everything old is new again.
Yep!
I remember my grandmoms washing dishes with solid soaps when I was a kid. Not sure if I am ready for it, despite doing my best to help the environment.
Interesting…cannot remember what my grandmother used.
For some weird reason I loved to help them dry the dishes when I was visiting, so I used to see them washing with the solids. These days I really hate that task!
My mother. ?
Excellent.
A great aunt of mine used to wash her doosjes with solide soap. She used a special metal contraption to creatie soapy water. Like this one: https://www.zepig.nl/product/795/zepig/zeepklopper-b-keus
Doosjes should be dishes
Oh how cool, I have never seen one of those!
But your second comment was a disappointment, I was so interested to hear what doosjes were 🙂
Little/ small boxes, the autocorrect on this phone is set for Dutch, added to my typing mistakes makes for interesting reading
Aha, thank you, I am so glad it is actually a word!
We always used solid soap to wash dishes when I was young. It was fitted inside a wire ‘cage’ similar to the one Austenfan showed and you would whisk the water to make it foam. It was great fun but it also left a lot more soap scum in the sink, especially if the water wasn’t boiling hot. Also, not so good in hard water.
We have terribly hard water, so perhaps that is another reason I need to stick with liquid.
I have extremely hard water where I live, so I will stick to liquid synthetic detergents. Soap scum is NOT my friend!
It must be my friend since it hangs around my tub so much!
