Indie Canadian line Zoologist has launched Koala, a new unisex fragrance.
A cloak of rich green velvet sweeps across the Australian horizon, the majestic eucalypt forest flattering every curve of the undulating landscape. Tucked high in the crook of a tree, the koala is oblivious to the mesmerizing views. It would rather curl into a ball and sleep off a feast of oily eucalyptus, the aromatic leaves that sustain it. Despite their sleepy demeanour and friendly expression, koalas are territorial creatures. Males mark the soaring trunks with their musk, establishing their dominance.
Zoologist Koala opens with an invigorating blend of lemony honey and the sweet aroma of eucalyptus. They float above a blanket of black tea and spices, then draw you even deeper into musky amber and woods. The result is a unique and carefree scent that snuggles in around you, enveloping you in an embrace both playful and independent.
Koala was developed by perfumer Spyros Drosopoulos of Baruti. Additional notes include mimosa, geranium, incense, vetiver, oakmoss, vanilla and sandalwood.
Zoologist Koala is $165 for 60 ml Extrait de Parfum.

Tempting if i were able to get a hold of it. I’ve yet to find a source for zoologist samples in Germany that doesn’t involve transcontinental shipping.
Mood Scent Bar in Poland carries Zoologist. Just don’t know if they will ship samples/items abroad.
thanks – will check that out!
I think this one came out a bit ago but is only just starting to be distributed.
Is Squid another new frag? The last line mentions it.
Oh, I see Squid came out last year. I missed that one.
Good eye though as I think it’s a typo.
Yep!! Fixed now.
squeee! honey and eucalyptus and woods sounds wonderful. I have a weakness for the smell of eucalyptus. There was a grove of the trees near my childhood home, I often walked through as a shortcut to the park.
As a California ecologist I have a love/hate relationship with eucalyptus — it’s so invasive, but the scent of it is deeply nostalgic and reminds me of many childhood hikes with my parents. And once I came across a eucalyptus grove that was serving as a monarch butterfly roost, which was absolutely magical.
agree! it’s very nostalgic for me too. As a kid I was forever putting eucalyptus seed pods in my pockets. My mum laughed when they went into the washing machine and the dryer.
Walking on a carpet of sweet-sharp smelling eucalyptus leaves and enjoying the shade of the tall branches is magical for me even now, also a reminder of the changes people wreak on our world. Sigh.
Yes, it is such an invasive species, but I, too, love the scent of rows of huge eucalyptus trees.
I live near Natural Bridges State Beach and it is truly magical when the air is filled with Monarch butterflies.
oh so jealous right now…..
Not an ecologist, but a CA resident who is passionate about native flora and therefore have totally the same love/hate relationship with eucalyptus >.<
I can attest after getting to hold a koala at a wildlife park in Australia that the indeed smell strongly of eucalyptus, plus also something vaguely sweet and a bit of furry smell. Not really a musk but just pleasantly furry. They are way more heavy than they look, too! That’s a solid little mass, far heavier than your average cat.

wow!
wish I could hold a koala!
maybe someday 😀
I love that furry animal smell
just requested to follow your insta! 😉
My friend said they smelled like a cough drop. That’s a pretty clear scent picture lol
My first thought was ‘bushfires’. I find it hard to untangle that association in my head. I read the other day that an incredible 3 billion animals (2.5 billion were reptiles) were killed or displaced by last year’s fires. Not a reflection on the perfume at all, which I am sure is great.
Oh that is just so very terrible to think of. It brings back the nightmares I had after seeing Bambi as a child.
Oh, wow. How horrible.
Sounds great, I love eucalyptus in fragrances (Elixir, Royal Mayfair). 🙂
Of course I have to get a sample of this. It’s nice to read everyone’s happy eucalyptus memories ? I associate that smell with cough drops but still I want to try it.
Sounds very interesting and the bottle is cute – Koala has to be cute, right? I have to admit, I would like to sniff some of others of these, but a lot of the bottles sort of creep me out.
Dragonfly, especially, for some reason. I love dragonflies – we have large number of them here on our place in June and July, but the closeup of it little head just makes me cringe. If I liked the juice, I don’t know that I could tolerate the bottle.
