I love the name La Surprise. I can’t tell if I am even interested given the barrage of notes from both of them. MDCI usually does high quality, though.
Barrage of notes, indeed. Intrigued by the association with the Frick, but wary of the scent description.
It seems like when the list is long, people complain about the barrage of notes, but when the list is short people complain about that — or worse, they assume that’s all that’s in there 🙂
I personally prefer longer, more complete lists. If they had put one more sentence in the description portion, describing the scent more than “surprised in a fragrant and romantic garden by an admirer, a rose in his hand”, that would help.
Interesting – it IS hard to please everyone, isn’t it? I always prefer shorter lists of notes – as long as those highlight what the fragrance is meant to smell like, in other words, the goal of the creator. Of course I realize that different noses will also interpret the fragrance in different ways, too!
I find with a lot of French brands that I may not smell all those notes, but they combine to make a beautiful whole. MDCI is one of those brands that I find something to like in almost every one of their perfumes, so I will certainly give these a shot.
Those bottles! ?
True, all they lack is a couple of tassels. ?
I had a similar thought – “WHAT? No tassels?”
The men’s had tassels. These ribbons look too small and prissy, like they were an afterthought.
We really ought to get in touch with Claude Marchal to have this serious lack of tassels seen to.
Ha!
