So useless and so ephemeral… but I good stand there all day staring at those windows. Thanks for posting!
Whoops! could stand… but it would be a “good” stand 🙂
Seems like lots of the stores stopped doing these videos so I was glad to find some!
Nice! I haven’t walked over yet but will do so in the next 2 weeks!
Yay, let us know who has the best windows this year.
So amazingly beautiful, and the imagination!!
Thanks, Robin!
🙂
Thank you for posting this. I went in the city to see the new production of West Side Story yesterday, and took care to see the Bergdorf windows. In past years, I made a special trip to see the Bergdorf and Barneys windows since both stores show elevated craftsmanship and imagination. Now, Barneys will soon disappear and I assumed the bankruptcy purchaser had little interest in decorating.
The BG windows were amazing in a totally original way, as always. The beautiful videos do not quite make this clear, but they depicted hte elaborate game and party vignettes as if you were looking down on them, as if the back of the window was the floor. This meant that the figures seemed to be projecting towards you through space, barely anchored to gravity, a dizzying technical feet. Those in the NY Area should stop by (You can proceed to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, or the Museum of Modern Art, or about 100 other art museums to see works of sculpture not commissioned by Bergdorf Goodman.)
I did venture into Bergdorf Goodman. I very good smelling man advised me that Dov Rojas will be himself this coming Saturday, and they are “giving away” travel vials and/or full size body creams for anyone luck enough to afford the colognes and perfumes. They have a new vetiver which has a lovely lemon top note. I took a scented card and dreamed that Santa really existed.
Oh, and I assumed Barneys would have one last year of good windows since they start them so far in advance! But you may be right.
