Demeter has launched Mountain Laurel, the latest addition to their Fragrance Library.
The Scent
Mountain Laurel is a slightly warm, light, white and clean floral, that to us, is a harbinger of spring. It is hard to wear or smell this one without smiling. And that’s really the idea, isn’t it?The Inspiration
Another in a long line of fragrances inspired while on a hike. Go outside. It’s nice. You’ll like it.
Demeter Mountain Laurel is available in 15, 30 or 120 ml Cologne and in matching bath and home products ($6 - $40).

The mountain laurels I remember smelling in Texas were supposed to smell like Welch’s grape juice.
Aha! That is less compelling.
Yeah, I think brand new blooms smell kind of like grape koolaid, but as the blossoms mature there’s a lovely powdery, almost white floral aspect that I’m a fan of!
Maybe they are “supposed” to smell like grape juice, but I’m here to tell you that my experience of them in Austin, Texas was that they were intoxicating and a bit spicy. The smell was so gorgeous I went around sniffing them all day every day and stole some to put in my room. That being said, the description of this perfume as light, white, and clean also does not fit with my experience, which was possibly more akin to wisteria. If I have the chance to sniff it, I will, just to see if it resembles in any way my experience with the actual flowers.
I was trying to oil extract the fragrance this spring to make the experience last, but I’m definitely going to get some of this. Hopefully it smells right and will be way less work for mountain laurel goodness year round!
Interesting, thanks!
