A reasonably priced rose shower gel in case you're tired of shelling out for Rose Jam: Yves Rocher Argan Rose Hammam. "For an intoxicating oriental-inspired escape in the bath or shower, our Botanical Beauty researchers have selected and combined two mythical organically-grown ingredients from Morocco: Argan extract and Rose." $4.50 for 200 ml or $8 for 400 ml. The matching body lotion is $10 for 390 ml, and there is also hand cream and shower oil.

Robin, I was just looking at this on the YR site this morning. They drew me there by sending an email saying I can get a free Peach Anise shower gel if I buy a body spray. Slightly tempted by the coconut body spray for summer, but I bought a mini of their coconut EDT at the end of last summer, so I’m covered there.
Might try the new rose shower gel the next time I place an order. I’m using their Cotton Flower Mimosa shower gel right now and am not really liking it. It has an alright formula but I don’t enjoy the scent.
Oh, interesting deal. Wish they had more of a selection in the US!
Anyway, do report back if you get the rose! “Cotton flower” always makes me think clean white musk.
Yes, I took a chance in the cotton flower aspect, hoping it would have an obvious mimosa scent. It does not.
If these are like their other shower gels and lotions, they’ll smell GREAT and dry out your skin like nobody’s business.
My skin is fairly dry anyway, so I can’t really tell if their shower gel makes it worse. Maybe in the summer is a better test for that. The one of theirs I’m using right now is a creamier texture than some others of theirs.
Heh 🙂 When I first discovered how drying their products where, I saved them for the summer, when my skin was less dry, but they turned my summer skin into winter skin. I HATE throwing things out, but when none of my friends wanted them, I did have to throw them out. Maybe you’ll have better luck than I did.
I don’t have dry skin, so my main concerns are smell and consistency.
The Body Shop’s British Rose is not as cheap as these, but it’s cheaper than Rose Jam, non-drying, and smells great!
Good point!
+1 and thanks for reminding me to put this back in the rotation.
For a more expensive alternative ??? there’s the Portrait of a Lady shower cream but you must like the rose-patchouli combo that is prominent in the perfume.
I am so tempted by the Malle body products but I fear falling in love and thus spending $$$$$ forever!
Thanks for reminding me that I have an unopened bottle of British Rose shower gel, before rushing off to place another YR mail order…
I have come so close so many times to purchasing a British Rose product, but always gotten distracted. Sounds like it’s time for a purchase, next time I’m at the biggie biggie wow wow mall. ?
That sounds like a good one, plus there’s the Murumuru Butter & Rose body wash by Love Beauty Planet. Robin posted shampoos from the line as a daily lemming a couple days ago. It’s a lovely straightforward rose scent in the bottle, though I haven’t tried it out for myself yet.
I just ordered an Yves Rocher shower oil in the Argan Rose Hammam scent. I also ordered a concentrated shower gel in the Olive Petitgrain scent. I’ve never purchased anything but fragrance from Yves Rocher, so I’m looking forward to trying these.
Oh fun!
I bought both the Argan Rose Hammam shower oil and the concentrated shower gel (in Bourbon Vanilla) yesterday and tried them both today. The shower gel is *ultra* concentrated: it has a little rubber membrane so you don’t over-apply, and two little blobs was plenty for everything from the shouders down to the toes.
The shower oil does leave a bit of an oil slick on your skin, as you’d expect, so I’m saving it for next winter when everything gets drier. The scent is very nice, like Lush Rose Jam sprayed on a plank and allowed to dry: it smells a bit cheaper than Rose Jam, but it’s less than half the price so that’s to be expected. I’m glad I bought it (and the Argan Rose shower gel too — they were having a buy-three-get-three-free sale so I loaded up).
