A 16" fresh bay wreath from McFadden Farm (at Etsy) in California is $30. The one shown is a 24" with bay and rosemary for $68; there is also a 3 herb (bay, rosemary and thyme) wreath with red chilis, 12" for $42.

The Japanese Garden in Portland every late summer and into the fall will have an ENORMOUS wreath made of sweet rushes, the type used to weave tatami. The wreath is placed over the main garden gate and the fragrance is pure rich sweet grassy heaven; I have swooned because of the scent being so strong and good.
What a great idea! So I need to plant some sweet rush.

Hmm. California Bay trees are known to harbor the fungus that causes sudden oak death. If that’s the bay species they’re using (I use it for cooking… just walk outside and pluck myself bay leaves as needed) I wonder about the wisdom of shipping these wreaths to areas that don’t have sudden oak death.

I don’t think there’s any need to worry. Any herbs or spices sold have to be irradiated first, and that kills everything. Then they are edible, but not spreading something nasty.
Holy crud- you are right. Because even if these are used indoors, the remainder will be composted and spread. 🙁
Just email or call and check to make sure they are irradiated before shipment, then no worries.
