Fans of Diptyque's Baies candle might be interested in their limited edition Black Friday version, which will be sold from Black Friday through Cyber Monday. It's $75 for 190g (that's $10 more than you'd pay for the clear glass version, and you can already buy a 300g version in solid black for $95, or the 5 wick, 1500g indoor/outdoor version, also in black, for $315).

My husband, with no small level of encouragement from me, got me one of these (black glass) for my birthday–if you hunt around you can find the 300g for a bit less than $95. Actually, what happened is that he asked me for suggestions to give his father for a gift for me for under $100. I found the candle on Jet (now out of stock, I just checked) for $85. My husband thought his dad would be appalled to spend that sort of money on a candle (fair enough!) and wound up buying it for me himself. All this to say, these candles are lovely but the price is prohibitive, psychologically as well as economically.
The candle? It is very nice. Strong and sweet. Maybe sweeter than I expected after burning for an hour.
I agree. I do not want to spend that much on a candle. I was pissed even when I got a half price Diptyque candle and then did not love how it burned or how it smelled. (Pomander, which burned crazy uneven plus I did not care for the scent at all.)
A Black Friday “special” with a price increase. Someone tell them they’re unclear on the concept.
Oh, they’re clear on the concept, a la the Red Chanel No 5 EDP ($160 for 100ML, the clear is $135).
Though I MUST out myself, I purchased the Red EDP and do not regret it at all.
Like I would urge others, and I practice what I preach, ENJOY!
????????????✌????
😀
Oh, I think they understand their particular audience! Will not be surprised if they sell out before Monday.
Clearly I am not cut out to be a marketing genius.
Well, nor am I. If you’d ask me 10 years ago if people would like a perfume brand better if they’d jacked up their prices, I would have said no way. But now I think charging a lot of money really helps.
