Givenchy has launched L'Interdit, a new woody floral fragrance for women. L'Interdit is a new version of the 1957 classic inspired by Audrey Hepburn, and joins the recently updated Eau de Givenchy. The 2018 version of L'Interdit is fronted by Rooney Mara.
Givenchy introduces its fragrance L'Interdit. An homage to the original L'Interdit from 1957. This new version is a tribute to bold femininity. Forbid yourself nothing. Allow no rules. An invitation to defy convention and embrace your singularity. A white floral cut through with dark notes unleashing a bold luminosity that flirts with obscurity. The shocking side of chic. The first resolutely underground flower, to discover the thrill of the forbidden.
The notes include orange blossom, jasmine, tuberose, vetiver and patchouli.
Givenchy L'Interdit is available now at Boots in the UK, in 35, 50 and 80 ml Eau de Parfum. In the US, the two larger sizes are available at Bloomingdales.

Those notes sound so “shocking”
If it turns out to be bold, or to defy convention, I *will* be shocked.
I have a soft spot for the 2002 reformulation/relaunch of L’Interdit — not the fragrance itself, but the fact that its advertisements spurred me to do a little research online, and then I ended up finding and joining MakeupAlley.com.
Otherwise — eh.
Interesting — if I knew that was what brought you there, I’d forgotten! I ended up there via the skincare board.
I have an older bottle, those notes sound like they may work on my skin. I doubt it’ll be groundbreaking but with vetiver and patchouli, I’ll give it a shot!
The ad copy is funny though.
Dear brands,
Please stop ruining your own heritage (and in one case, the heritage of someone else) by reusing the names of your great classics (and in that one case, the name of someone else’s classic) for another boring generic soulless perfume.
Best regards,
A customer who has had enough
I’ll cosign that letter.
I’ll co-sign also. Ms Hepburn, never mind Monsieur de Givenchy, must be turning in their respective graves…
I agree with Bill.
Yes! That’s what should be “forbidden”!
How about they call it L’intercheap? No description or notes needed, as the name, for once, would be self-defining 😉
Isn’t “flirting with obscurity “ a negative? Who wants to buy stuffs that are flirting with obscurity? Who writes this? Some of these ad copies for perfumes sound like fever dreams. Shocking underground flowers! The forbidden! Probably smells like la vie est whatever that gives me a stomachache.
