French niche line By Kilian has launched My Kind of Love, a new quartet of fragrances targeting younger millennials. Adults, Boys, Kissing and Princess are at a lower price point than the main line (which has recently seen a price raise).
Kilian created My Kind Of Love, an entire new fragrance collection for young lovers: four scents—Princess, Kissing, Adults, and Boys—for flirty fun and free play, each is an audacious statement, a truth or dare to love in your very own way.
"I wanted this collection to have the multi-layered notes and accords that I’m known for, but built around a key ingredient that’s unusual, surprising, and instantly recognizable."—Kilian Hennessy
Expect the unexpected at all points of the game, as even the bottle is more than meets the eye. A little bomb of seduction inspired by contemporary art, it is both a mini sculpture and a bold declaration. Grab its weighted sphere on top, turn tradition upside down, and remove the bottom square pedestal for spritzing instant sex appeal. On the black bottle’s pedestal, each playful phrase is put on graphic exhibition in glossy lipstick red and gold.
Adults ~ "I wanted to create the solution to all of lovers' quarrels with a fragrance to end all fighting. Adults is a very sensual scent with a top note of fig milk that hits soft like naked skin, then cedarwood and vanilla prolong the experience into much more than six minutes of pleasure."—Kilian Hennessy.
Boys ~ "I wanted to invite you to take a walk on the wild side with a scent made for misbehaving. Boys is a very sexy and very fresh scent thanks to the instantly recognizable cola accord made of nutmeg, cinnamon, and lime."— Kilian Hennessy.
Kissing ~ "When else can you experience something so sweet and burn calories all at the same time? Kissing is a luscious remix of floral and gourmand notes, it speaks to the most perfect sport for couples with incredible chemistry. Just like a great kiss, as the perfume evolves the emotions get more intense."—Kilian Hennessy. The notes include lily of the valley, hot milk and sugar candy.
Princess ~ "I wanted to amp up the girl power with a unique scent calling out all fierce females. Gourmand with a kick, Princess is like sipping on a green tea matcha with a tip of ginger on the nose for sassy spice."—Kilian Hennessy. Additional notes include marshmallow.
By Kilian Adults, Boys, Kissing and Princess will debut at Sephora in August, in 7.5 ($30), 30 ($75) and 100 ($135) ml Eau de Parfum.

Update 2024: Boys has been reissued as Born To Be Unforgettable.
Ah, has it really been a month since the last fatuous concept from Kilian Hennessey? No, it’s been less than a month. The next time I’m shopping for a present for a crisis-ridden forty-something, ‘Kissing’ is immediately going in the basket. I may just pick up ‘Boys’ for myself.
I know, right (fatuous concept)? However, I’m always looking for a cola fragrance. Maybe Boys is the one…
EL apparently “made introducing lower-price fragrances a condition of its 2016 acquisition of the brand”, which is interesting. And:
“He said he plans to raise the prices on the main line, which he previously focused on keeping below that of many of his luxury competitors, which can average around $500 a bottle, to be more competitive.
“We put a lot of money into raw materials,” said Hennessy. “Even at the $300 price point, I’m not making the margins that Estée Lauder wants — not even close.””
All of that from here:

EL must be really putting the thumbscrews on re margins on the expensive stuff and wanting more cheap ranges – I wonder if that’s why when Tom Ford brought back Ombré Leather (which to my nose and according to TF is identical to the original private blend version) it came back at much lower signature range prices rather than staying as a private blend. It was one of their best sellers even at private blend prices so seemed odd to bring it back at half the price when they could have kept milking that cash cow at the higher price.
Well, I think that’s the wrong way to look at it, personally. [adding later: the thumbscrews part, I mean] You sell your brand to EL because you WANT to expand and you want access to their distribution and expertise to do it. You don’t have to go that route, and lots of brands don’t.
Very interesting, thanks. Makes me glad that I splurged and split Amber Oud when I did as it was already a stretch for me.
Disappointing (although I know it’s true everywhere) that he is actually saying that they *won’t* put much money into raw materials for these new fragrances above … the notes for at least 3 of the 4 piqued my interest.
Best laugh in a while. Kilian is some of the most synthetic smelling stuff on the market these days. If he stopped spending the bulk of his budget on overblown pretentious packaging (coffrets, skulls, booby tassels, locks and keys, etc) maybe he could afford some quality ingredients.
I agree – perfume doesn’t need to come with a lock and key!!
Oh no, cola accord?!? Just take my money!
That’s the one I want to try too.
I think they all sound neat-i’m also excited to see if they really pull off a ginger, matcha, and marshmallow perfume.
Agree! I’m in for at least a rollerball’s worth of cola! 🙂
Haha, funny!
At first I thought this was going to be a single scent called Adult Boys Kissing Princesses (with a potential flanker called Adult Boys Kissing).
LOL!!
Haha! Love this ????
Will there ever be a line targeted at baby boomers? Aren’t all new perfumes for millennials?
Aren’t our dollars green, too? And some of us (alhtough not me) have lots of green to spend.
*although
I can’t believe the margins are low on Kilian, the idea that they need to be $500 is offensive. Not worth it to me at that price, that’s for sure.
I wish there was a fragrance line “targeting old women.” I might buy unsniffed.
