Indie perfumer Bruno Fazzolari has launched Fontevraud, a new unisex limited edition fragrance celebrating the 15th anniversary of niche boutique Luckyscent.
Inspired by The Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, a 900 year-old french monastery that was the burial place of Eleanor of Aquitane and Henry II. After the revolution it was transformed into a prison that became the setting for Jean Genet’s autobiographical novel, The Miracle of the Rose.
...with a bright, dynamic combination of a classic chypre style set against a modern, fruit-infused rose, Fontevraud is a celebration of the ancient, the contemporary, and the fascinating ways those concepts can intersect. Fresh, mouthwatering fruit with a tropical tinge ignites the senses and puts a smile on your face, while a rich, oakmoss-heavy chypre construction radiates old world elegance. At the center, a dynamic rose- both lushly gorgeous and sharply modern- embraces the contradiction, feeling romantic and energized in equal measure.
The notes feature bergamot, guava, pear, rose, oakmoss, opoponax, patchouli and amber.
Bruno Fazzolari Fontevraud is $145 for 30 ml Eau de Parfum at Luckyscent.

Sounds like a MUST try!!!
I should have said — I think there are only 50 bottles? So you’d just about have to buy unsniffed. Of course, maybe they are planning to add more, I don’t know…
Ordered mine up last night.
Do let us know how it is!
Must…..resist…..blind buy.
I agree. Every day there are more and more releases. I know it will pass, but right now there are too many choices that I even want to sample. They are churning out too many perfumes and it’s overwhelming to me.
I hear you – it is soooooo overwhelming!! I used to feel like I had to smell ALL the new things, now I’m just kind of numb to it. Even when something comes out that seems really great, it only takes about a week or two before something else grabs my attention. Then I sit on that one for a couple of weeks, and on goes the cycle and I never end up trying hardly anything!! My wallet thanks me, though 🙂
Same here. Amazing how quickly I can forget about last week’s lemming. And then I also find I’m not as enamored as the hype would suggest if I do cave on a sample (I am very particular, I’m learning).
That’s my motto too!
The pear note is putting me a bit off..but the rest of the notes sounds lovely 🙂
I agree. Pear can be tricky. Must get a sample
This sounds wonderful!
Yes. Complete lemming. I need this one
Always very interested in anything new from Fazzolari (love Jimmy, Feu Secret and Au Dela)…
Yes please!
Just FYI only 50 bottles were issued and the Fannolari’s will snatch me up quick.
Where did you get yours? I can’t find it on Luckuscent, but that must be it right?
Never mind! I found it. Anyone looking, you have to look under Bruno Fazzolari on Luckyscent. They don’t have it on the new arrivals page yet. Yes, I am a crazy person . . .
Yep. By the time I get a sample and then make up my mind, they will be gone, I’m sure. So maybe I just won’t sample it at all…then I won’t have to live with the regret of missing out.
No!! Oh no!!! I only 50?! That’ can’t be right! The lemming is growning teeth, but I’m hesitant because of the guava…
Sounds lovely.
I dont think I will ever smell this, but it led me to the website of the Fontevraud abbey. And now I know there is a hotel in it. And a Michelin star restaurant….and now I want to stay there haha. (I think you can buy three bottles of this perfume for the price of a meal and a one night stay ????
But using PerfumeMath, that means it would actually save one money to just get the perfume and skip the trip. 😉
I knew somebody would get there!!
????
Amazing history! I’d love to visit as well.
