Canadian indie line Zoologist will launch Camel, a new unisex woody oriental fragrance.
“On a track through an unforgiving desert, starting point and destination are indistinguishable from one another. Terra-cotta hued dunes twist and writhe, their shapes ever shifting. Only the merciless sun and aloof constellations can be trusted to point the way. Weighed down by treasures; some tempting the eyes with their glittering sheen, others enticing with exotic aromas, the camel plods towards a far off marketplace. Water is but a dream now, the taste of sweet dates a distant memory. There is nothing but an endless ocean of sand.” -Zoologist

Designed by experienced perfumer Christian Carbonnel (an expert in oriental style perfumes), Camel is a true Arabic scent that is rich, opulent, complex and beautiful.
The notes include candied fruit, dates, cinnamon, jasmine, orange blossom, frankincense, musk, myrrh, oud, sandalwood, tonka bean, cedar, civet, amber and vanilla.
Zoologist Camel will launch in early December, in 60 ml Extrait de Parfum.

The notes for Camel sound very interesting.
Yep!
Sounds good, anxious to sniff this one.
Eventually I will give in and try Zoologist. But they’re making it harder by releasing so many…
Come on! they have less than two weeks of testing! 🙂
True. But I have such backlog already.
I am looking forward to trying this one 🙂
This made me chuckle as I am in the middle of Michael Poore’s “Reincarnation Blues”, which features a thoroughly reprehensible and smelly camel named Satan. The main character is trying to learn unconditional compassion for all creatures and so becomes the camel’s guardian for a time. It’s very funny, especially if you’ve spent time around real camels. But I’m sure this perfume will smell much more beautiful than the fictional camel in the book!
Yeah, I told my friend (who shares my love for animals and wildlife documentaries) about Zoologist and he said: “Before you buy anything from them maybe you’d like to go to the Zoo?”
Many moons ago I spent a week camping with a camel. I hated him by the end of the week. It takes a very special person to love a camel. They are ill-tempered and stink!
Nevertheless, I quite like the notes of the Zoologist perfume 🙂 !
I’m excited to try this one. The notes sound right up my alley. (Assuming I like it) I hope they put it in a travel spray because I saw on the website that they’re offering a coffret where you can choose any 5 travel sprays for about the price of a bottle.
Oooh, I didn’t know about the travel spray coffret. It just went on my Christmas list (hopefully Camel will be available for inclusion).
I wonder if they’ll ever make some sort of a big cat?
Although I do understand that those guys (cats) are way too predictable for a perfume and too mainstream…
To conclude: as a big cat lover I want one, but as a perfume lover I’d save big cats for a really really challenging fragrance that only 10 people in the world could actually wear 🙂
Oooooh…..this one sounds really nice, but I’m guessing too heavy for my office perfume grinch AND husband! 🙂
I shall seek a sample though! I just got a sample of Elephant…planning to try this weekend!
I just received my blind split of this. Let me know what you think of it, as I’m not sure if I like it or not.
Camel is exactly as described, imho. Complex, mysterious, spicy with a tiny touch of funk. I fell in love with it, and suspect it will be in my top 5 for 2017. Gorgeous stuff!????????????
I am skeered of funk. Which perfume has a similar funk.
Do you mean funk as in civet, or funk as in weirdly different? LOL. Don’t you love to find a new perfume that speaks to you?
The “funk” that I got was from the civet and oudh, but it’s used with such a light touch it’s barely discernible, just adding a depth and richness that is beautiful. It’s very “vintage-y” in the same way that Zoologist Civet is. Nothing to be scared of!
I wasn’t interested in this line until I read your comment. Onto the sample list.
I didn’t love Civet but I’d be willing to try this. Very particular about my skank!
I got a sample of Camel by surprise with my latest Zoologist sample order. I love it. I don’t get much funk/skank in it at all. It kind of reminds me of Diptyque Volutes in a way, but it also kind of called Hermes Ambre Narguile to mind (or at least what I remember of it). I got kind of a tobacco impression, even though that isn’t a listed note. Maybe it’s just how the base comes together for me, with the dried fruit notes.
