Indie line Kerosene has launched Summer of 84, a new limited edition unisex fragrance.
It was the year the Detroit Tigers won the World Series; a time when I was young. The summer air smelled as new and clean as grapefruit pop sunk with ice cubes, fizzed in warm sun. Popsicle wrappers and fresh cut melons half-eaten on the picnic table.
It was the Summer of '84.
The notes include grapefruit, lemon, bergamot, melon, white flowers, fresh water and musk.
Kerosene Summer of 84 is available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum, $140, and will be sold until Labor Day.

The best part of the summer of 84 was the Tigers winning the world series! Other than that, it kinda stunk. I’m not really feeling a connection with the notes, but its a cool concept with the memories and all.
I was alive in the summer of 1984, and could not have told you that the Tigers won the world series — so it was not the best part of my summer 😉
I think this perfumer has a very deft and interesting touch with savory notes. I may order a sample.
Oops…he actually says on FB that there aren’t any samples. Sorry!
I shall not be discouraged. Most everything ends up at STC so I will check occasionally……
Hmm, the summer of 84… I had just started working full time in January of that year after graduating from college and was regularly doing 12 hour shifts. There were no popsicles or picnics for me, and I don’t follow baseball. Plus the notes are everything I avoid in a perfume. I guess I can give it a skip! LOL.
🙂
Being s Detroiter and Michigander… this speaks to me on such a deep resonant level!!!! I will be buying!!!!!
