Italian niche house Maria Candida Gentile has launched Lankaran Forest, a new* fragrance.
This fragrance was created by Maria Candida during her journey in the Lankaran Park, near the border between Azerbaijan and Iran, a magic and mistic [sic] place, which they say fascinated Alexander the Great so deeply that he declared it protected for ever. In Lankaran Forest Maria Candida merged the flavor of the Iron Trees - the huge trees which have the unique capacity to cure themselves when sick, by embracing one another – together with the incredible variety of underwood musks and flowers, and with black tea and citrus flowers, cultivated along the Park.
The notes feature bitter orange, petitgrain, Lankaran black tea, lichens accord, sandalwood, leaves and sacred wood accords.
Maria Candida Gentile Lankaran Forest is available in 15 or 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

*Lankaran Forest was first introduced in limited edition packaging in 2015, as the bespoke fragrance of the 2nd Buta Festival of Azerbaijani Arts.
Hmmmmm
This could fill a space in my collection and in my heart. Living in Iran meant a lot of travel all through the borders of Azerbaijan, in bitter cold winters and hot dry summers.
The water in the streams was always cold, coming down from the winter snows. Families would put their Persian melons in the streams to chill and spread out carpets to make tea.
Oh, I hope it lives up to your memories!
I really like this brand, too. There is more hope than usual that it might measure up!
I really hope so too!
I was lucky enough to attend an event where this was premiered at the Royal Academy in London over a year ago. They had transformed one room into a forest and the “leaves” of the trees were impregnated with this scent – magical.
And don’t you just love her for doing 15mls bottles – I do 😉
I do! Plus a few in 7 ml, which is even nicer.
