As we head into the back-to-school season, let's try a repeat of a poll we did in 2011: pick your favorite fall fragrance, and write a six word review (a twist on the six word memoir).
Of course, do as many as you like, and feel free to do your summer favorite(s) as well.

What I’m wearing today.
Enjoy today. Peace.
😀
I did enjoy today! Hope you did too.
Une Rose de Kandahar: deep, sensual, warm, falling leaves, embrace.
However, it is actually hot and sunny here so I am wearing Aqaba Midnight sun. 🙂
Aqaba — a blast from the past!
Tom Ford Vert D’Encens
Deep comforting green. Great longetivity. Love
Sampled this the other night and it’s my SOTD and it immediately went on my full bottle wishlist
I will have to sniff the line the next time I’m at Saks or Bergdorfs!
Jealous! Went to NM over the weekend, they had 3 of the new Vert releases, but no testers… 🙁
L’Eau Chic today, by PdN. Here’s my review:
Clouds move to hide the sun.
That’s one of the most enchanting times for me, especially in super hot Houston. I just love the cool feeling of the perfume.
Lovely!
After enjoying Pin Mystic last night, and starting the day with the last drops of my original Interlude sample, SOTD is Annick Goutal “Encens Flamboyant”. This is nice, but very muted and at times a little soapy. I have a little 15ml splash bottle and when that runs out (at this rate, several years from now) I won’t rush to replace it.
Testing Givenchy’s Play for Her today. Vanilla was all I got out of it, for about 2 hours before it disappeared (which is weird because there’s no vanilla listed for the notes). At least it wasn’t that heavy, fake-y vanilla that gives me headache. . .
Benzoin + Tonka sometimes smell like vanilla to me.
Thant must be it, then,
Andrea Maack Coven
Peppered grass, petrichor, boozy, ambered warmth.
It’s been great in the heat, too.
No caffeine yet, so I don’t think my brain is up to the 6 word challenge at the moment. I will get right on that when the little gray cells wake up 🙂
Koyel and I had such fun at Tigerlily yesterday. The shop owner was fabulous, I think she spent an hour with us. We didn’t sniff everything in the shop but we sure tried. I ended up buying Mirus Driftwood (Kevin — how funny that you reviewed it yesterday!), Olympic Orchids Olympic Amber, and En Voyage A Study In Water. Koyel was horrified by my admiration for Zoologist Bat, and tempted by too many things to mention. Definitely a fun afternoon.
Koenigsberg — while we were chatting, the Tigerlily owner mentioned that she has overseas customers. Maybe if you emailed her directly she would send you samples of the Mirus line. Can’t hurt to ask…
Fun! I wish there were more indie lines to sniff here.
I was just thinking of dropping you a note to see how your excursion went. I have to try the Driftwood. His display is so interesting – you can actually smell the raw ingredients he put in his fragrances!!
Pixel, thank you, that’s a great idea.
I had great fun in Toulouse following Koyel’s recommendations for perfume shopping. Indeed I was very tempted to beg and plead with her to be my mule from the US, except I know she will already be carrying a steamer trunk full of her own new purchases! :^D
Berdoues Grand Cru Cologne Oud Al Sarhaa- silky, balsamic, sweet, velvet agarwood
SOTD- Escada Cherries in the Air on a base of Pacifica Mexican Cocoa=chocolate covered cherries
that would be “Sahraa”…..
You know I just realized that I FAILED the challenge- I am missing one word-LOL! OK adding the word “powdery” right now because that is what I am getting in the drydown…REALLY REALLY liking this one! (and the price is right too!)
Took advantage of the Guerlain sale at STC- 3 5ml sample purchases
Fall favorite: Alahiiiiiiiiine bergamot
ylang-ylang
Rose
patchouli
vanilla
sandalwood
Do the little ones say Alahiiiiiine yet? 🙂
I am teaching my little monkey..????????
cute!
Too funny!
My SOTD is Angelique Noire
Vanilla , sugar, vanilla, sugar, repeat.. ????
One of my favorite vanillas
Yes, but I would have to add: green vanilla, sugar, green vanilla, etc.
Yum!
Yes, green vanilla sugar..repeat.. 🙂
Petit Guerlain is my scent for Sunday
Orange Blossom
Mommy’s Hugs
Honey
Green Pistachio
Baby Kisses
Sunday Naps
Not enough caffeine yet today, so no poem today. All I know right now is that after I get off work tonight, I am on vacation. A week that I don’t have to be at work. So it’s off to figure out on if I am going to wear Jubilation or Theorema.
I vote for Jubilation
Enjoy your time off!
Yay, have fun relaxing and smelling fantastic!
Wearing Thierry Mugler Womanity for now. I really like its fig note. Going to a Broadway show tonight and I will be on Chanel No.22. A beauty I always enjoy.
Lucky you, enjoy the show!
Youth Dew:
My mother loved this, me too!
Me three but I only wore the dusting powder many years ago…that was my favorite version of Youth Dew…
Me four! I love it!! 😉
Oregon is finally getting some of the summer’s heat (and how!), so my brain can’t handle thinking autumn quite yet. . .
But, super-fun news. Mr. Spicebomb and I have decided to fly down to LA over winter break, and I discovered that the AirB&B we chose is only a mile or two down the road from Scentbar. Never been, so I’m looking forward to playing! Happy to take any advice! I’ve already made a note to try the Grandiflora scents folks were discussing earlier in the week. . .
Marjorie Rose, my mother, who was a voracious reader, always seemed to find that wherever she was staying on vacation was always a few blocks from a great bookstore. She said serendipity, we said forethought. 😉 In any case, I envy you your playtime at Scentbar. Have fun!
Seems like there was a time, not so long ago, when a good book store was hardly ever more than a few blocks away. *sigh*
I’m flying to LA on Thursday and am so excited! I’m not sure which I’m more excited for, Scentbar or the concert that prompted the trip.
Oooh! Have a great time! And do report back on all you sniff!
Scentbar is fab! If you call in advance, they will try to have the perfumes you want in the store to try.
Gosh, I hadn’t even considered that. Do they not carry everything in stock?
It’s pretty small. They don’t have testers of everything they sale on their website at Scentbar. But they can arrange to have them sent to the store for you if you call in advance.
Good to know, thank you!
Thanks, Robin, this “poll” is a really good exercise to help me establish new brain neuron pathways 😉 .
Pichola could be worn during a cooler summer, but I plan on trying some serial perfume monogamy with it for fall…Sparkling, spicy, smiling, floating, flowers, woods.
Oh good! And lovely choice 🙂
At some point in the fall, the nights become crisp and fresh, reliably by mid-October in these parts. For about a month, then, I like to wear Bill Blass Nude, the combination of apples and flowers seems just right at that time of year. So, here’s my 6 words:
Sparkling pressed apple cider with flowers.
Oh I had forgotten about Bill Blass Nude…that is a great one for the fall…..did you ever try the original Bill Blass? Gosh I loved that one…
I don’t think I’ve tried the original Bill Blass. I will keep my eye out at discounters and Goodwill. 🙂
It is very old (circa 1978 or thereabouts) so the top notes would be off…it was a fragrance purchase I made when I was in middle school and took a trip with my best friend to the mall…purchased it at Abraham & Strauss which has long since gone out of business…I felt so grown up making that purchase with my allowance at the time 🙂
http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Bill-Blass/Bill-Blass-for-Women-1671.html
Here we go…it was the pineapple accord (which for me was highly unusual at the time) that I loved so much about this perfume….
Yikes! just checked ebay for Bill Blass and it is well over one hundred dollars a bottle….several years ago it was selling for about 12 dollars at online discount stores like fragrancenet…..
I am remembering *something* with pineapple that I’ve sniffed in the not-too-distant past, but I can’t put my finger (nose?) on it at the moment. . .
And it’s funny how the old scents seem to go in and out of favor in the vintage frag market! Wonder if someone recently wrote a glowing, nostalgic review?
Ooooh, BB Nude sounds beautiful. I love October. 🙂
It is an odd mix of sparkling aldehydes, pleasing apple (without a hint of cheap shampoo, IMO), and a musk and unidentifiable “floral” base. It is both bright and a bit *much* if the weather is too warm. So, it gets worn pretty much only in fall for me, where the mix of warm daytime temps and cool nights seem to suit it. Besides, apples = fall, in my book. 🙂
Ready to fall back into leathers! 🙂
We’ve been having record heat in the DC area, so perfume has mostly been limited to testing samples at home in the AC. The only recent exception has been light spritzes of TDC Osmanthus.
That is a summery osmanthus when compared to the leathery osmanthus of Miyako.
Does SMN have any fragrances with an osmanthus note?
They offer more than 40 fragrances, so it’s hard to be sure, but none by that name.
Like Marjorie said, it’s too hot here for me to think of fall scents just yet. However, I did buy my season ski pass yesterday in hopes that Mother Nature might take notice and usher fall in quickly. Some of the trees here are starting to turn red so maybe it’s not so far off. I started off wearing that Hermes Rhubarb thing but it only lasted about an hour, and I was rearranging the perfume cabinet so I used up the remains of a Cologne pour le Soir sample. It’s barely detectable now and all I’ve done so far today is walk the dog. After a shower I might spray Orange Sanguine, that one lasts a while on me.
I get great lasting power with Orange Sanguine also.
Portrait of a Lady:
The most beautiful perfume ever created.
My co-worker wears this every single day at discreet levels and I always make it a point to say she smells fabulous! It is worlds apart from TF Black Orchid.
I have yet to try this..
Aahhhh, love PoaL!
One of my very favourites too!
Eau Premiere:
Sparkling effervescence, rare flanker done right.
🙂
Nice!
agreed!
Chergui
Warm playdough, bug spray, good however.
I am wearing Philosykos as it is still a bit warm for Chergui during the day. We’ve been having some cold, rainy nights of late so I have pulled out some of my warmer scents again, Ambre Sultan and the like.
Has anyone else seen the rumor that Chanel is going to start phasing out the Les Exclusifs in eau de toilette form with new eau de parfum versions taking their place (at a higher price of course)? Apparently there’s been a run on these with people stocking up their favorites.
Also, l’Occitane has brought back some of their classic scents. Quatre Voleurs, d’Iparie and Ambre are now available on the American site. I know that these three, Ambre especially, have something of a cult status among some. I’m hoping they’ll be available in store so I can give them a try.
🙂 Chergui is one to be applied lavishly or else it smells like bug spray!
There had been a few discussions of the Chanel Les Exclusifs switching to EDP and increasing prices in Basenotes and also right here in various SOTD threads. Chanel prices increase every year so no surprise there. The switch to EDPs (either just a name change only or a reworking of the concentration plus the name change) – who knows? I decided to buy back-ups of 28 La Pausa and Coromandel as I like the formulations the way they are and don’t want to pay more for the same thing if the reformulation rumors turn out to be false.
I wouldn’t say I apply lavishly. I usually stick to three or four sprays. That said, the bug spray thing doesn’t last long anyways and while it does last it doesn’t bother me. I have a lot of good memories associated with that smell.
I was hoping they would bring back Feuilles d’Oranger 🙁
Avignon
Cold Catholic church, pine trees, snow.
Testing Boy today.
Not sure what I think yet.
Nice summary of Avignon!
We had one of the few real summery days here. But, it is August and the nights are cooling, so I spritzed some Voyage as a prelude to autumn:
Soft, golden, diffuse, somewhat wistful comfort.
My six-word triple longevity review of the morning:
Barbara Bui beats Tauer and Diptyque
I tried Barbara Bui at bedtime last night on one arm, with Tam Dao on the other. BB lasted through the night but TD was gone-baby-gone when I woke up, so I spritzed some Une Rose Chypree on the now-nonscented arm. BB is STILL going reasonably strong, but URC has faded substantially.
Okay, I was wrong. Une Rose Chypree kept me company all afternoon and into the evening – and very pleasantly too. It’s bedtime again, and I dabbed some Parfumerie Generale Cuir d’Iris om my wrists to see me off to dreamland. It’s doing a very nice job of calming and soothing. 🙂
I get a very long wearing out of URC. It changes during the dry down, becomes smoother and warmer, but I never stop noticing it! It is absolutely lovely, IMHO.
How did it wear with all the heat yesterday? I would expect a Tauer-cloud following you around!
It was kind of a cloud – I was rearranging my office furniture all afternoon, and every so often I found myself wondering who smelled so nice … and then realized it was me. Duh. 😉
Keiko Mecheri Iris Poupre…
Powder puff candy floss
Iris perfection.
Akk! your description has now made me want to try this!
Me too!
great minds think alike 🙂
Natori eau de parfum by Natori
Warm aldehydes plum velvet Jasmine musk
Hi RuthW,
I remember your gravatar image from when I started reading NST. Is it time to say welcome back?
Oh thank you! It’s been a crazy few years and I am reconnecting to this wonderful world of perfume lovers.
Not that I ever stopped wearing it????
I’m not going to pick a favorite fall fragrance. That’s just silly 😉 I will, however, be wearing a lot of Cuir de Russie:
Spilled perfume in a leather bag.
It honestly does smell a lot like the inside of my saddle-leather camera bag, where I tend to find forlorn sample vials that have been shoved away upside down.
You put perfume samples with your camera?
Eh, it’s a Saddleback briefcase so the interior pockets are thick suede and I use microfiber shop towels as padding, so the odds of damage are minimal. I’m pretty sure my camera is at much higher risk when I take it out for evening walks with the cats.
No judgement from me–my first camera bag was handmade from some leftover fabric I had sitting around! Just a big cotton square with a long handle to drape over my shoulder.
I was just surprised. 🙂
As for the cats, well, that increases the risk of so many outings. 😀
SotD is Jul et Mad Nin-Shar.
Key to a secret rose garden.
And some more…
Chanel Boy – wears as most comfortable cotton shirt.
Parfum d’Empire Azemour – summery chypre done more than right.
Diptyque Oud Palao – scent of “tales of 1001 nights”
I’m wearing Caron Aimez Moi today.
Chanel Coco is my favorite fall fragrance:
Golden Brown. Warm. Luxurious, comforting blanket.
Both great scents..you smell wonderful today and in the fall..
Yum, two of my Autumn favourites too.
In fall I go back to Feminite du bois Shiseido: A fuzzy plum spiced sweater scent.
But hopefully that’s more than a month away.
Currently not getting too much “amande” out of a sample given to me yesterday of the new Prada of that name.
That Prada didn’t last until my shower, let alone after it. But I remembered about my Vetiver Pour Elle decant, and everything is better.
I’m so jealous of you’re original Feminite du Bois!
Ambre Narguile
Autumn 2016
delicious
even
on a warm day
I
shall
wear it more often
😀
Perfect Spring perfume Downunder, too!
SOTD is Dame Cassis, Rose & Sandalwood.
I clearly got to the STC Guerlain closeout late yesterday. Most of the scents I had saved in my wish list were gone already. Bummer! But I did get 3 decants, so it wasn’t a total bust.
I think most of my favorite perfumes are fall/winter scents, so it’s hard to pick just one. But…
Mitsouko: woody, mossy, and smoky chypre perfection.
Have a fantastic weekend, everyone.
You smell great today!
Don’t feel too bad, I went to check out and my loves waiting in my cart were no longer available. (And this was in the morning.) I was a very unhappy camper. Lesson learned- putting items in the cart doesn’t hold them ????
Oh no! That’s a major bummer! Actually, after I posted yesterday I went back, and one of the scents was back, so I snapped it up. Then after I placed my order, it showed it was unavailable again. So I guess I’ll just have to wait and find out if I actually receive it or not.
Fingers crossed for you! If I had known that the items in my cart weren’t being saved, I wouldn’t have taken my sweet time filling up my cart with all sorts of things. I was so mad bc the two things I really wanted are discontinued. ????
It’s like buying tickets to a Madonna concert or something. (You know, where you only have like a minute to purchase the seats the computer picked or you lose them?) That they were discontinued scents just adds to the tragedy! ???? I hope you’ll be able to find some decants somewhere else–I’ll think positive thoughts on that for you.
My six word: Too hot to think; currently commando.
It might be time to splash on some 4711.
🙂 I was finding it hard to choose a scent today in the heat, too. It just sort of muddles all my thought processes.
But then I saw that I had a decant of No. 5 edc sitting out, and figured, ok. It pretty much always smells nice! And now I do, too.
What I thought was going to be a lazy rainy day, turned into a tornado warning. I’m so thankful i was home with my children. After the all clear and everyone was safe, I thought about the perfume i had on, Viva La Juicy Noir. Should have worn Gucci Rush. Which leads me to one favorite fall perfume. Gucci Rush: Always gets me through tough times. We are expecting more storms this evening, praying they are uneventful.
I love Rush…
I do too!
Another Autumn favourite for me too!
Hope you and yours are safe and dry.
Poivre Piquant: This pepper’s nothing to sneeze at.
Sables: Sun-toasted garrigue… Helios, meet helichrysum.
Encre Noire: Villagers, torches, pitchforks. Smokin’ hot witchcraft!
Cabochard: Don’t stand gawking! BACK TO WORK!
🙂
Excellent!
🙂
Great!
Heehee! Nice.
🙂 Great!
We could make you the reigning queen of six word elevator pitches for scripts. 😀
Brilliant!
Hi Robin!
Fall fragrance fave: Hermes Amber Narguile
Warm, sweet tobacco. Sweet MUA split!
Hey you, very long time no see! Hope you and yours are all well and happy.
Thanks Robin. We are all good. Kids are in their teens now. I don’t have much online time but I think of you often; believe it or not it’s when I walk by my cookbooks and see Cookwise, which you recommended when we were on the fragrance board. I think those were the days of lasttrainhome. Take care, Laura
L, time flies — my son turned 18 today! And I think of you when I wear Eau de Givenchy 🙂
Gris Clair
Serene smoky lavender introverted comforting hug
Nice! I Love Gris Clair! And there *is* something introverted about it. 🙂
AG Sables
Fire and mapple syrup walk with me.
Oooh, retro! Very nice.
Oh that is great! I just recently got the chance to try Sables (made sure I did after Kevin’s glowing review) and I really loved it…definitely a great fragrance for fall!
TF Vert des Bois
The decant sits in my house!
You just reviewed a depressing number of my perfumes (and I do like them).
Mikas, I’m not sure if my posting depressed you. I’m sorry if I did so.
No, but it did prompt me to shuffle my neglected decants to the front and spray the guest room closet and the living room liberally with perfume.
Coromandel
Who got chocolate in my patchouli?
Excellent ????
Ha ha! *That’s* what I didn’t like about it, I couldn’t identify it. The chocolate was somehow disturbing to me.
I go back and forth on Coromandel too. Sometimes I love and others, not so much. I seem to prefer it as a sleep scent during the summer, which is kind of weird. ????
The only chocolate scent I like. I wore it to bed last night, too.
oh gosh that’s what it is! I really like coromandel but could never commit because the patchouli has that odd sweet thickness about it… Chocolate!
White chocolate from what I understand.
Fresh Cannabis Santal: All occasion warmth, just….not yet.
I actually glanced longingly at this one while moving summer scents into my bedroom, but just can’t do it in daily 90’s heat. Having moved into our house I am reunited with my beloved antique Indian teakwood armoire (thank you, Universe, for forgiving my materialism). But it stays near the front door, holding accessories – gloves, scarves, glasses, umbrellas, and out of season perfume. And I needed current season perfumes where I dress. So I followed a suggestion seen here a year or two ago and repurposed an old CD tower found at Restore. Thanks to whoever mentioned theirs!
Oh, SOTD was Bronze Goddess. Perfect as usual.
Two things! 1) I went to bed last night in BG, and agree that it really is perfect! 🙂
2) My Mr. Spicebomb walked by my little perfume cabinet yesterday, and said with some conviction, “We really need to get you a bigger, better storage for your perfume!” 😀 Mine is just an old wood vanity I bought at the Rebuilding Center, and I keep it in a spare room on the floor. I agree it looks sorta odd there, and I *could* use more space . . .
Marjorie Rose, this man is absolutely priceless! He should develop a counseling program to help other husbands learn to understand and support their perfumista partners. 🙂
I think the solution is enabling *cough*, I mean SUPPORTING their own collections and hobbies. Mr. Spicebomb has me beat in the useless-but-he-loves-it category (sports memorabilia, etc.). My little hobby seems so reasonable in that light!
He really is a keeper!
I’m a lucky lady!
U are , he sounds lovely!
😀
Cuir Beluga
– no whale was harmed making this
– perfect fluffy sweet ambery vanilla, suede?
Off-topic — I am looking for cordless Waterpik recommendations. I prefer one where you don’t have to take up counter space. Thanks!
I don’t have one of these but it looks like you can read reviews on amazon or walmart..
Every time I see ‘Cuir Beluga’, by brain goes, “Whale leather? Whaaa…??” ????
sotd is Mitsouko:
Floral peachy warmth; mahogany liqueur.
It always smells a bit like a hot boozy drink to me (a drink I’d very much like to try!). Today I really feel like baking. I hope autumn rolls around soon!
Perfection!
You smell great! I’d love to be able to smell the peach in Mitsouko, but pretty much all my skin and nose give me are the mossy and woody aspects. ( See my 6-word review from yesterday.)
I’m enjoying this aromatic NYT article about Sean Sherman, a 42-year-old Minnesota chef who is Oglala Lakota, and “new Native American cuisine.”
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/17/dining/new-native-american-cuisine.html?&clickSource=story-heading&WT.nav=c-column-middle-span-region&_r=0&module=Endslate®ion=SlideShowTopBar&version=EndSlate&action=Click&contentCollection=Food&slideshowTitle=New%20Native%20American%20Cuisine¤tSlide=Endslate&entrySlide=1&pgtype=imageslideshow
Gourmand Coquin: boozy chocolate, vanilla creme center
Tell me more..I ordered a 5ml sample of this one
It is pretty luscious. I kind of wish a little more rose in there. A woman at work once said, “gingerbread” but I don’t think that is apt. I mostly get rum and chocolate. Look forward to your reaction.
SOTD is Hermès “Eau des Merveilles”, trying for the first time. It’s not going to become a new Autumn favourite. 6 word summary: slight salty orange, a bit meh. :^)
I’ve tried to love this series because of the wonderful name, brand, and imagery, but I feel they’ve succeeded in trying too hard to be subtle.
I love several (but by no means all) of the Hermessences. Their problem is they start beautifully but fade away too fast. This one never really takes off at all – as you say, too subtle for its own good. :^)
Trying too hard to be subtle,
perfect six word poem for Hermes.
😉
So true!
I love the Clair des Mervielles, have you tried that one?
No, not yet. I’ve just been looking at Hermès stuff in BHX airport – sniffed Bel Ami, Équipage, Hiris, Rocabar, 24 Faubourg and something else (evidently not memorable!). I now have Hiris on one wrist and Bel Ami on another to see how they behave on hostile Koenigsberg skin. Also Guerlain L’Heure Bleue on the back of one hand.
I am in Guerlain today..so house cousins !
I’ll be curious to hear how you like Bel Ami. I have a vintage decant that I LOVE, but I believe it has real sandalwood.
This is the very latest formulation. I like it and it has stood up well to the airports and flight tonight. But I’m not sure I love it.
Hiris died away to nothing in the same time. L’Heure Bleue has changed to a lovely skin scent. The little bottle is pretty cheap so I may well get this one before the Hermès.
You can’t go wrong with L’Heure Bleue, Koenigsberg!
Juicy Couture Ooooh Lala! Cheap thrill!
I am enjoying this, actually. Nothing outstanding, but sweet citrus pleasantly present – good for a weekend trek to the grocery store. Not sure what it smells like, but it is doing a good job of not being annoying, which I cannot say about some fragrances I have worn recently. Cough (Alien) (Black Orchid) cough… 🙂
Some days, especially in hot, humid summer weather, I, too, am grateful for a perfume that simply doesn’t get on my nerves. 🙂
I picked up LaLa for a great price this summer, It’s a pretty scent. My coworker wears it regularly, and it smells better on her.
Helloooo, morena, dawn is here, and I am almost at the end of the beginning of my project. I worked 15 hour days Saturday and Sunday: I’m shattered, but the progress is now perceptible. Yay!
A spring favourite: Fate Woman. Six words? Here goes:
Golden light bottled: begin to hope.
No. No notes. Hmmm.
Sweet gold pollen dancing (on) clean air….seven words, Robin? No? It’s too hard for my poor tired brain. I’m going to some ironing before I settle down to work.
Be well, everyone.
Hi, can’t remember if you are in AU or NZ. I’m going to Sydney in a week and I’d be happy to bring you samples/decants/bottles. ????????
I can mail them to you once I’m in Sydney, no problem.
My email- laugsb at sbcglobal dot net
You’re such a darling, but I’m in Auckland, and believe me, I’m having such problems with our postal services at the moment, I wouldn’t want to inflict difficulties on anyone else. I think Oz & A-NZ have similar regs, and they are RIDICULOUS! I have a bottle of Salome for Gaynor–came all the way from LA with no difficulty, but it would be easier to hitch-hike down carrying it myself than post it to Wellington! I’m thinking up a creative way to break the law as I write this. But thank you! And we still hope to get to the PNW soon-ish. The dear man gets more and more betterly, we think, so long flights begin to be a possibility again.
Yesterday I layered two Demeters. Vetiver and then Black Ginger. I like it for summer. Spritzed on Encens Jinhae for evening from a Sephora sample. I really like it. I think I’m attracted to the cherry blossom. But it’s not sweet.
The Demeter combo sounds nice!
Scents of the day:
Attrape Coeur one wrist, Royal Extract on the other.
This has prompted my review……
Sighing, wistful longing, heart-broken desire…crying. ????
Noooo! Not the crying! Never because of perfume! Oh dear….
It is so, so hard to fall in love with discontinued, hard-to-come-by beauties. I feel your pain!
Oh, and how do they compare? I was tempted by the recent STC Guerlain unloading to buy some Royal Extract to compare to Attrape Coeur and Guet-Apens. But I decided that I didn’t need to know. . .
They are very very similar. Thanks again for the AC sample! I have a tiny decant of RE. I attempted to buy another at the STC sale. But when I went to pay for it, I got a “no longer available” error message. I was so mad!!
Les Parfums de Rosine’s Poussiere de Rose:
rose potpourri in a cedar box.
Can’t wait for cooler weather!
SOTD is Dame Cassis, Rose & Sandalwood again.
I’m currently sitting in Petco Park! Here with the family to catch the Arizona vs. San Diego game. We’ve got a 3:2 ratio of D-backs to Padres kit–so bwahaha to my sister and BIL. ????
Have a great Sunday (or Monday), NSTers.
I’m enjoying a wonderful, surprise gift from a friend today, Heeleys Hippie Rose; Fragrant petals, crushed leaves of green.
Such a lovely summer rose.
Great gift! That is a lovely rose.
Yes!, I’m feeling really grateful indeed.
Givenchy III:
Bare feet softly trampling mossy undergrowth.
Beautiful stuff.
