Sport couture brand Dirk Bikkembergs will launch their debut fragrance for men, Dirk.
DIRK embodies the values and the virility of the contemporary football hero. It is a men’s fragrance of sheer will and total intensity — the two forces that elevate football and life into The Beautiful Game. The football pitch inspires the Bikkembergs signature neon green packaging and juice, the latter visible in a hefty, faceted football-shaped glass bottle. The flacon’s weight and detailing read luxury, injected with the adrenaline rush of football glamour and passion.
From the opening kick, a super sexy apple fougere accord scores resoundingly with woody, heart-racing spiciness. The treble notes of pink pepper, apple and bergamot arc towards a powerful, defiant centre field of geranium, orange flower, and resinous, balsamic tonka bean. The complex interplay is sustained by a deep-lying, erotic velvety animal accord of leather and musk, partnered with vetiver and benzoin.
A beautiful fragrance. Inspired by the beautiful game.
Dirk Bikkembergs Dirk will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

That’s quite some description. I get the feeling that I have failed to appreciate the true power and beauty of fooball…and I’m surprised they haven’t added the hot showers and steam and sweat of the changing room. Another epic sports perfume. Now I’m imagining all the sports that have missed out on perfume: synchronised swimming, lawn bowls, table tennis…all missed opportunities.
It’s early days yet for Star du Ping Pong and the like, but you never know. I do like the bottle, but the green makes it look quite cheap.
You really do never know….never say never.
I like that, for being a football, the bottle isn’t very macho. I never really equated Dirk Bikkembergs with sports either. ‘Sporty’ clothes yes, but not ‘sports’ clothes.
