Indie perfume house Dawn Spencer Hurwitz has launched three new fragrances in the color-inspired Chroma Collection: Hansa Yellow, Mars Violet and Ultramarine Blue. (See also: Viridian, Quinacridone Violet, Cyan, Kohl Gris, Albino)
Hansa Yellow (shown) ~ "The most brilliantly happy perfume you will ever find! A friuty-floral-gourmand [sic], Hansa Yellow is the epitome of sunshine. Euphoric notes of neroli, jasmine, and ylang ylang sing a merry song while softly fruited notes of lemon juice and banana harmonize with the creamy Tahitian vanilla, sandalwood, and butter notes." Additional notes include orange blossom.
Mars Violet ~ "Earthy and Otherworldly. The aromatic equivalent of the painter’s hue, Mars Violet. As an earth pigment, Mars Violet has a wonderful red-ish, brown-ish violet color; as a fragrance it’s an earthy, ‘fruit-chouli’ gourmand that’s awesome for both men and women. It’s sensual and fabulously unusual." With notes of plum, osmanthus, tobacco, patchouli, brown oakmoss, tolu balsam, tonka bean, oud and fossil amber.
Ultramarine Blue ~ "A deceptively familiar yet curiously abstract watery, airy, refreshing, almost ‘cologne-like’ scent yet it’s mildly mineral-ish and earthy. You think you know it… but you don’t." With notes of ozone / marine, petitgrain, bergamot, chamomile, cassis bud, ambergris and musk.
