Our 2015 series of holiday gift posts continues — today we’re featuring coffrets and gift sets. More coming up soon!

The larger coffret includes twenty fragrances for $590; the smaller ("designed with men in mind") includes ten fragrances for $365. You can purchase directly from the Malle website.

From Givenchy, the Dahlia Divin Music Box edition: "Givenchy Dahlia Divin Eau de Parfum has been reinterpreted as a musical fragrance. Presented in a couture box, the bottle sits majestically atop a spool of golden thread which emits a dream-like melody, reminiscent of a childhood music box." $110 at Bloomingdales.
From Parfumerie Generale, the Collection Croisière discovery set, with 15 ml bottles of Entre Ciel et Mer, Jangala, Paris Seychelles and Long Courrier. €110 at Parfumerie Generale or £65 at Bloom Perfumery.
From Juicy Couture, a deluxe mini gift set with I Am Juicy Couture, Viva la Juicy, Viva la Juicy Noir and Juicy Couture Signature. $49.50 at Macy's.
From niche line Jardins D’Écrivains, the Beat Generation box, with full sized Shaman candle and 100 ml Junky Eau de Parfum, plus some Shaman sage burning herb. €175 at Jardins D’Écrivains.
Wait why is the Aedes set three not five?? Boo. Hard to justify when the only one I’m sure I’d want is the signature and it’s not included. Well, maybe that’s for the best–unless I’m overlooking something on the Net-a-porter site, it seems that one’s already sold out!
Meanwhile dying to hear how many people have taken the plunge on the FM coffret…
I was also puzzled about that…
Especially pitched as a “discovery” set, the full complement seems worth doing. But what do I know!
It is three. Could not tell you why, but guess it makes it more affordable? I wish they’d do them like Hermes and let you choose, but nobody seems to do that but Hermes.
True about keeping the price down, though since at first blush I thought they were saying $110 for sprays of all five, three sprays for the same price was a little bit of a let-down!
Sorry!
Although, I just might go for a compromise -say, 7mls of all 5 for slightly more 🙂
Likewise–altho I’m noticing, that’s the size that their regular 3-packs of travel sprays come in, also for $110, so, in some ways this already is a bargain… Alas. Maybe next year Aedes will hear our intercessions 🙂
(Or we get organized when the splitmeet rolls around 🙂 )
The people at Hermès are brilliant for doing that! I’ve already spent a considerate amount on those cutely packaged 15 ml coffrets.
Me too! But I assume it’s too expensive for most smaller brands.
I believe Atelier Cologne is now doing the same thing with their 7.5 ml sprays.
Is the place where I gloat over purchasing the large FM coffret back in 2013 from the Lost Luggage store in Selma, Al? The one I paid $29.95 for? Pristine and untouched in the box?
Why yes it is. 🙂
Holy moly me oh my that’s a good deal. Wow!
Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!
That is some mighty fine karma right there!
oh my goodness, gloat away!
Good job You!
GOOD HEAVENS YES!!
WOW. That is really and truly a Best Buy–of all time!!
LOL — yes, this must be the place and the time!
Why yes it is, indeedy! ???? Words fail me….
Please tell us about that Lost Luggage store. Inquiring minds, you know.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…. (I am genuflecting, in case you cannot tell.)
Raising my hand as answer to the first question 😉
Yay!! It really is gorgeous. What a treat.
Lovely, congrats!
Oh you bad girl, I am so jealous!!
Oh, good for you, enjoy!
Late to the party, but raising my hand, too.
And sticking my tongue out in jealousy at Marsha. 😛
Lucky you!
I am seriously tempted by the Malle! If it were 150 or even 200 I’d go for it without a second thought. It is lovely though….arrrrgh
I wish they’d done with in 5 ml, I might have caved too.
Hear me oh Kings and Queens!
THE TALE OF THE FM COFFRET:
The lost luggage store in Selma: http://www.unclaimedbaggage.com
I had been to the store a couple of times. It is gigantic. The perfume counter as usual was infested with Paris Hilton and overpriced Chanel. They’re not idiots, they recognize many brands. I previously had bought 24 Faubourg at a decent price. But on the FM visit I realized I hadn’t looked in the men’s collection. And there IT was. The flat black box lurking underneath a collection of undistinguished bottles. My heart skipped a beat as I had the clerk pull it out and open it. It was unused! And the price! You should have seen me clutching it to my chest. I almost entered it in the store’s “best deal” contest , but decided not to since it would alert them to a brand name they could charge high for. Which would be a poor way of repaying karma. It was in the same case area that had a new Hermes scarf, in its orange box. I like to think it was from the same person who lost the FM. No, it wasn’t 29.95.
It was soon after I was laid off from my job near Nashville and I had gone with friends as a cheap pick me up before moving in with mom in Florida. A year later I accepted a new job in Anchorage. I brought no furniture, but I brought all of my perfume, crystal, and books.
So here I am a year after the move. Still no furniture. But my apartment is safe and warm in winter. I have my cats and bird, books, wine, and a futon pad in front of my fireplace. Plenty of good restaurants, along with scenery people dream of. And my office has a nice view of Mt. Denali.
There are moose in my parking lot.
May all your tales end as happily.
Wow! A view of Mt Denali and a moose and a fireplace! And you can enjoy your coffret as well.
Our first year of marriage, we had a futon, a stereo system, albums and CDS galore, 8 bookcases full of books and more in stacks all around our tiny house, and 4 cats. We didn’t even have a table to eat off of! But I’m not sure we have ever been any happier than we were that year, and we didn’t even have Denali out front!
You are clearly a lovely soul to have so much awesome in your life.
I want that Malle coffret, but I already own the 5 ml version and really cannot justify buying another, even more expensive coffret that is essentially the same… I’m considering the Aedes set, but I agree with others, I would have preferred to have all five or an option to choose.
On a positive note, it seems that more and more brands now do this sort of thing, at least for holidays, and this is a trend I support wholeheartedly.
If you already own the 6 ml you cannot complain 🙂
Re: Malle 2015 Coffret I did spend a lot of time (turns out is was over a 7 minute period) coming up with the True Value of buying $600 worth of small decants vs 2 fb that I may have really wanted. Multiplied, divided, actually added up each 10ml spray cost and the cost of the sprayer. In the end, I couldn’t resist. It got here in 2 minutes. I delayed unpacking. I still have the coffret swathed in grey tissue wrap. Please comment: brilliancy or idiocy? Have I gone PAST the rabbit hole and plunged into something far darker? You be the judge…
Judge not lest ye be judged 🙂
Well, if it *is* a dark place, at least know that you’re not alone in there!
Let he who has never jumped through questionable math hoops to justify completely unnecessary perfume expenditures cast the first stone. 😛
Hahahaha #wisdom
Well said!!
Love this. May need to copy that and or go the trusted route of leaving it up to the universe. If I manage to signoff on two tricky work thingies and the set is still available then…. 🙂
