French niche line Parfums de Marly has launched Sedbury, a new fragrance for women.
Prominent perfumer Parfums de Marly is back with a brand new fragrance that is a treat to the senses. Committed to using the equestrian arena as inspiration, the purely feminine line called Sedbury has been christened after the famous horse from the 18th century that was foaled in Yorkshire.
Described as a steed of exquisite beauty, fine shape and form, Sedbury was said to be the best of his size in his day. The perfume replicates these values and is a flawless blend of floral goodness with contemporary notes.
The notes include tangerine, bergamot, clary sage, lavender, tuberose, jasmine, iris, vanilla, sandalwood, amber, benzoin, patchouli and vetiver.
Parfums de Marly Sedbury is available in 75 ml Eau de Parfum.

I’m not part of the horsey set so I am speaking from ignorance. I would have added salt, sweat (yuck), leather / suede fur to the mix.
The whole line is based on horses — I guess they can’t all be salt & sweat & leather? Or, this horse is bred to smell like tuberoses 🙂
The concept of this line is so blah to me..but I am not an equestrian.
Nor am I.
At the risk of offending, I’m curious to know if the Middle Eastern companies that have been setting up shop in Paris lately and glomming on to fake European aristocratic pedigrees and heraldry understand how garish and phony their branding comes across. In addition to Parfums de Marly, there’s also Alexandre J. and Horseball. Not kidding. Horse motifs in all three. Symbologies of “fancy” don’t always translate from one culture to another. I wish they would just embrace their own heritages and market their perfumes honestly. The perfume traditions from the Middle East are spectacular. Look at Amouage. It’s done great job at marketing in the West, but has successfully maintained its Eastern identity. I’m sure there are others I don’t know about.
Interesting. Horseball!
Sounds like a load of ‘Horsie apples’ to me but it is a divine fragrance.
