I want one! I’ve only had a bottled egg cream (brand: http://getcreamed.com/orderchocolate.html), but it was good. They used to have them at my local BevMo, but they stopped selling them. I will just have to make my own egg creams at home.
The name is a big turn-off, but there is actually no egg in an egg cream. One of my favorite authors, Daniel Pinkwater, wrote about egg creams.
Lots of delis in DC had egg creams, we used to drink them when I was young. I have made them at home but never bought the proper syrup so they weren’t as good.
Do you remember which chocolate syrup the delis used when you were a kid? I think that Cost Plus World Market carries Fox’s U-Bet and Bosco chocolate syrups. I swear that I put on my blinders when I enter World Market and only buy chocolate syrup. Ha!
Fox’s U-bet is it…and did not know they carried it at Cost Plus, good to know!
