French niche line Histoires de Parfums has launched 1899 Hemingway, a new aromatic citrus fragrance:
Gérald Ghislain, created an oneiric scent for 1899. The top notes of Italian bergamot, juniper and pepper are intended to be the aperitif that sparks the conver- sation and awakens the palate in anticipation of the meal. Following “Papa” from Spain to Italy with Mediterranean scents that evaporate to leave place to a darker mood, where the amber and vetiver mixed is reminiscent of the waxed wood of a Cuban bar top. The exotic meets the familiar, the tropical heat is cooled off by a glass of scotch.
Notes include bergamot, juniper, black pepper, orange blossom, iris, cinnamon, vanilla, vetiver and amber.
Histoires de Parfums 1899 Hemingway is available now for pre-order at Luckyscent, in 60 ($125) or 120 ($205) ml Eau de Parfum.

I’m looking forward to trying 1899!
I’m quite a Histoires de Parfums fan, my favorites are 1725 and Rosam.
Last time I checked their website samples of 1899 were already available but I held back since they’re sold in 6-vials-sets only and I know all the other scents but this new one.
Good luck then!
I pre-ordered this one from Lucky.
Can’t wait to finally smell it!
Wow, you are brave!
I know, I’ve never pre-ordered anything without smelling!
But I love Hemingway, think the notes sound great, and have read some positive early reviews. A couple people have compared it to Spicebomb, which I sort of enjoy except for the bubble-gum sweetness.
Fingers crossed!
Hope it will work for you! I’ve found some real gems buying unsniffed. But I’m not good at it, I’ve also bought some clunkers.
Yep, I got a Spicebomb from it. It’s like Guerlain’s SDV meets Egoiste and Spicebomb…with a *big* juniper note on top. If you think you’d like that mix, I’d say definitely try it. A little goes a long way too. Very woody, cinnamon-y like Spicebomb. Vanilla like SDV. Too masculine for me to wear but not masculine enough for my hubs to wear I guess. But he can’t stand cinnamon either.
Well, I do like Spicebomb.
Then I’d say it’s worth a sniff. It’s more masculine than Spicebomb a bit…probably due to the huge evergreen note.
This is giving me even more encouragement!
I never tried SDV, but have heard great things and would like try it…
LOVE Egoiste! Like spicebomb. I think the part that is holding back spicebomb for me is the artificial rubbery sweetness that I get.
This sounds fantastic! Can’t wait to read reviews and decide if it may be the right Christmas gift for my hubby this year. He is a gin man but is also developing a taste/interest in scotch, so this may be the perfect thing. The other one I am considering is A*Men Pure Malt.
Personally, I’d pick this one over Pure Malt but I am not much of a TM fan at all..so perhaps I am biased. But I think this one is better.
I like Pure Malt, but think it is a bit overrated. I don’t actually smell any whisky in it, and I am a fan of the drink. I can see the inspiration, but it isn’t enough for me to equate the two. However, the patchouli, caramel and berries are nicely done.
I wear Spicebomb and Pacifica Island Vanilla at the same time , so I am looking forward to sampling this one!
