Van Cleef & Arpels has launched Rose Velours, the latest addition to 2009′s Collection Extraordinaire.
Rose Velours is a new creation in the Collection Extraordinaire range, it is a sensual and opulent take on the Rose, perfumery's finest flower.
Rose, honey and precious woods are the three pillars of this complex fragrance, adorned like a jewel with materials that sparkle over time.
Rose Velours was developed by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu. Additional notes include bergamot, violet leaves, orris absolute, benzoin, ambroxan and cedarwood.
Van Cleef & Arpels Rose Velours can be found now at Harrods in the UK, in 75 ml Eau de Parfum, £126.

Anything with honey is a must sniff for me. The rest of the notes sound good as well. I can seem to find a good, honeyed rose, which I think if it was done right to my nose..it would be amazing. I’ve never sniffed anything from this line, maybe time to check this out.
A few of them are really nice, and I did buy the iris although I have never worn it as much as I thought I would.
I have a decant of Bois de Iris which I seldom use. There is something heavy and lethargic in the notes that suggests a kind of frozen, apathetic luxury.
*can’t.
I’m totally in! I love Boid d’Iris from VC&A Collection Extraordinaire so this is a must sniff for me!
That one was my favorite too.
Oh, VC&A, I was with you until the Ambroxan. Not my thing.
Money saved 🙂
I’m with you. Does anyone ever look at a list of notes and get excited about Ambroxan? I guess it could happen.
Have this so I could try. I love rose scents but I honestly hate the honey trend (Uncle Serge started with it…) – so I war pretty unsecure. I was a tad disappointed about Ellena putting honey in his Jour d’Hermes… another honey-frag?
This is areally well done rose scent with enough depth and warmth, not too loud nor too girly, nor too “fresh”. On my skin the honey did not really show up, the “velour” is a healthy warm base of woods.
The lasting power ist very good, and I would recomend it for a genuine rose lover. Okay, it’s nothing worth hunting for, it’s not OMG but it is good.
The packaging is also lovely, clean and elegant, liked it.
