Bond no. 9 has introduced five fragrances: Bond Silver (above left), Union Square (above center), Lexington Avenue (above right), Success is the Essence of New York and Montauk. These appear to be the former Andy Warhol series, repackaged and reintroduced as Andy-Warhol-less standalone products. All are available now at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Okay, I’ve officially lost the plot when it comes to Bond.
I am assuming this means they had a 5 year deal w/ the Andy Warhol Foundation, & now that’s over (?)
Yes, exactly right.
Yes, I lost the plot with all those I Love Mothers Oud things.
*snort* 😉
I’ve never been interested in trying any Bonds myself. Maybe I am missing out, maybe not but just never have been interested.
I really liked a couple of the Andy Warhols — Silver Factory esp. And Chinatown is worth a whirl.
IMHO, no, you haven’t missed much. I’ve smelled (too) many of the Bonds early on in my perfumista journey. After having them pushed on me at a number of different places over time, I can only conclude that they exist to make a healthy profit for perfume shops that can push them on gullible patrons who respond more to price and a “pretty,” “conventional” scent with the NYC imprimatur than to real quality. I’ve been practically bullied into these at some perfume shops (the ones where they try to figure out your budget in advance of allowing you to smell anything to determine which brand to point you to and not let you smell anything else/cheaper…ugh). It’s to the point where if I see them prominently displayed in a small shop I know it’s not a place that values quality (at a place like Holt’s — like Barney’s / Saks to you in the States — it’s just par for the course, and you can find good stuff among the chaff). I know people like Chinatown but I didn’t.
Basically — cool bottles, iffy scents, in my experience. So clearly I’m not a Bond fan. 😉
Success is a Job in New York was a much more clever name than Success is the Essence of New York, which just reminds me of the Aveda commercial in Zoolander. “Wetness is the essence of moisture…” 😀
I assume they had to change that name since it is a phrase associated with Andy Warhol, whereas the others are locations that you could argue for as not being “owned” by Andy Warhol. Note that “Silver Factory” is now just “Silver”, too.
I know that Bond has had some reputedly good scents (at least some good noses did a few scents for the company) but I personally don’t want to support a company that bullies smaller niche brands (the whole we OWN the word” Peace”–Really?)And discrimnates against other ethnic groups .
I figure I can purchase other things done by the noses.
I quite liked I Love New York for All; but I know it wasn’t loved by all – well not many –
I also liked it that the price point was more reasonable! One day I need to try Silver…
God I really love Silver Factory though the price point has kept me from buying so far… any of you more experienced perfumistas think this might mean Silver Factory shows up cheaper anywhere as they bring in the new stock, or have any advice about the best way to not let that slip by me if it happens?
I sort of doubt it, although stranger things have happened. But their distribution is limited enough that it doesn’t seem likely. Best advice would be to call a local Saks and ask if they’re marking down the old packaging, or email Bond in NYC.
The Bond No. 9s are on Nordstrom.com, but I don’t think these 5 are just yet. I can’t believe they’re not JUST at Saks anymore! Maybe I can FINALLY test ALL of them! It’ll take me all day, that’s for sure. Haha! : )
