Olivier Durbano has launched Heliotrope, the latest fragrance in the “Stone Poem Jewels” series. It is named for the heliotrope stone, also known as bloodstone.
It comes out of the gate swinging, opening with a fierce and spicy mélange of ginger, red pepper and angelica that adds fiery sparks to the prominent incense note at the heart of all of Durbano’s scents. As the heat settles, rich saffron comes forward, bridging to a beautiful blend of floral and wood notes that entwine themselves in the frankincense. Blissful magnolia and the pillowy, sugar-dipped almond note of heliotrope soften and sweeten the incense, but never dominate it, and a satisfying base of sandalwood, cedar wood, benzoin and musk anchors the dreamy lightness, resulting in a mesmerizing dance of earth and air, of bitter and sweet. Serene and hypnotic, this is a warm and subtle take on incense, with occasional flashes of brilliant spice.
Additional notes include elemi incense, oliban, red mandarin, nagarmotha, myrrh and ambergris.
Olivier Durbano Heliotrope is available now at Luckyscent, $150 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

It smells really interesting. I was lucky to sample it before it’s official launch. My local niche perfumery provided me with a sample and even they don’t have it yet in regular offer.
If you’d like to read few more words check out my blog as coincidentaly a mini review of Heliotrope is a part of my latest post.
Thanks for letting us know.
This sounds good. I’m intrigued….
I have liked several from this series, but not sure why I’m not enthralled with more…sort of feel like he’s done enough w/ incense now?
I want to try this one. I love the color too. I can never have too many incense fragrances.
Watch for staining! Pretty sure someone told me the black one stained fabrics.
Thats why you should buy ‘Fame’ by Lady Gaga. Even though its a BLACK FLUID (says on the bottle) it sprays CLEAR! Theres a video somewhere that gives her account of her STRUGGLE to persuade a reluctant perfume manufacturer to realise this AMAZING feat!
LOL! Alternatively, just don’t buy black liquid perfumes at all 😉
