Giorgio Armani's Emporio Armani line will launch Emporio Armani Diamonds Black Carat fragrances for Her and for Him in October. Both fragrances were developed by perfumer Jacques Cavallier; they are flankers to 2007's Emporio Armani Diamonds and 2008's Emporio Armani Diamonds for Men respectively.
The rare, multifaceted Emporio Armani Diamond bottles are like two minimalist jewels. This olfactive black intensity created by perfumer Jacques Cavallier explores new, deeper facets of fragrance, with these two new unique scents for women and men.
Diamonds Black Carat for Her ~ a fruity floriental with vanilla, freesia, rose and benzoin.
Diamonds Black Carat for Him ~ a spicy woods with bergamot, cocoa bean, vetiver and Szechuan pepper.
I will update with sizes and concentrations when I can.

Update: Diamonds Black Carat for Her is in 50 ml Eau de Parfum; Black Carat for Him in 50 ml Eau de Toilette.
If someone asks you what you are wearing and you say “Black Carat”, it is going to sound like “Black Carrot”: therefore, this is one of the worst names for a scent I have ever, ever heard.
Agreed, plus I have no freaking idea what “Black Carat” is even supposed to mean (not that that isn’t par for the course with perfume names).
I don’t know why they didn’t do Black Diamonds. Maybe it’s taken.
Yes, Canali has a Black Diamonds in that squat ugly bottle of theirs.
Good memory, thanks!
Agreed. Horrible name. I hear Black Carat and I think vegetable not diamond.
I wonder how Szechuan pepper will translate into fragrance. Ideally it’d smell as bizarre as it tastes, but I’m not overly hopeful. Are there any other scents that claim to have this note?
I remember seeing it in quite a few other fragrances, but i cant remember any of them.
Ditto!
When I saw the Szechuan note mentioned, I was actually very excited to try it out–when I was younger, my family went on a vacation to the Szechuan providence, we were staying in the mountains, and they had Szechuan pepper trees along the country side road…the air was filled with an indescribable, yet intoxicating smell. The Szechuan peppers, when they are still fresh on the tress, are green in color and they have a slight floral scent along with the peppery scent; once they are picked and dried, they turn to a dark red color, they smell drier than the fresh ones and the floral notes are hardly there anymore. I always have a jar of Szechuan pepper in my kitchen because I like them when cooking Chinese food. Every time I opened the jar, I never forget to take a deep whiff and get a “dose” of those peppers smell…brings me back to that childhood memory every time.
I hope the execution is just as good. I remember seeing the visual of the Diamonds bottle the first time and thought how good it looked, then in real life it looked totally cheap. Hope this one’s not a letdown either.
Have to agree…did not think the original was fabulous packaging. These look nicer in print, anyway.
Maybe this one will be better than the pale Emporio Diamonds for Him…
That one was just dreadful!
And so generic…
“Corundum” might have been a better name. Though it’s not a diamond, it still comes in carats (ruby, sapphire, etc.) and can be found in the color black. Plus, has a cool sound.
