Italian niche distributor Calé has added two more fragrances, Fulgor and Roboris, to the Calé Fragranze d’Autore collection (you can see the first eight here). Both fragrances were inspired by a thunderstorm in Death Valley in August.
Fulgor ~ a woody amber developed by perfumer Maurizio Cerizza. "There are times when sudden changes in Nature explode onto the scene. In a flash, from the very air, one senses that something is about to happen, tremendous forces are coming together, getting ready for a violent manifestation. Unchained energy ready to go wild, showing its vigor. Fulgor is that very moment, the one just before the desert storm: the electricity in a lightning bolt, the arid sand, dense dark clouds laden with moisture revealing themselves in the driest place one could ever imagine…" With notes of cassis, green tangerine, fig leaves, magnolia, narcissus, saffron, incense, patchouli, mineral amber, graphite and pyrite.
Roboris ~ a woody amber developed by perfumer Mark Buxton. "On a desert highland, an American Indian medicine man burns magic herbs, transported by a sacred chant. With his heart full of joy, he observes as dense clouds laden with water make their approach. He is grateful to the Great Mother for her gifts: the stones and sand, medicinal herbs, the buffalo and the snakes, tobacco for the peace pipe and the droplets of rain that give the desert new life as they fall, ensuring prosperity for his brethren." The notes include violet leaves, rhubarb, wisteria, cactus flowers, jasmine, sandalwood, vetiver, cedarwood, tonka bean and amber.
Calé Fragranze d’Autore Fulgor and Roboris are available in 50 or 100 ml Eau de Parfum. (via press release)
I know, the texts are eau faux worthy, but I actually tried these at the esxence show, and Roboris is one of the few which I shortlisted for a second try. It might be considered dryish-masculine by some, but definitely interesting..
I’ve heard they’re nice…glad to hear confirmation.
Not sure why both new releases are categorized as woody ambers. Id be more tempted to try the Fulgore one because Mark Buxton generally, for me anyway, creates very weak and short lived fragrances.
Interesting, I don’t think of his work that way.
I also tried both at the esxence and both were sth that would stay in my head. But Fulgor is more me. Roboris was just like the flowery green woody bouquet on the stand I guess representing the fragrance. Not flowery at all, more greenish dry.
I’ll have to try them both — I like greenish dry, usually.
I like the inspiration behind these as I love the smell before a thunderstorm and I am a big fan of incense, patchouli, tonka bean and amber. Must sniff-worthy!
I love that smell too!
