4711 will launch Nouveau Cologne in July. The new fragrance is geared towards a young audience, and designed to have a relaxing effect.
The notes include evodia fruit, litchi, black currant, yuzu, geranium, heliotrope, peony, sandalwood, tonka bean and white musk.
4711 Nouveau Cologne will be available in 50 and 100 ml spray or 150 ml splash, and in a variety of bath & body products.
Don’t tell me even the venerable 4711 has jumped on the young ‘n’ fruity bandwagon!
I suppose it sells…
I hear they’ve done a good job with their Aqua Colonia line, so hopefully they’ve done a good job with this one too…I never see any of them so probably won’t get to smell it.
My grandmother always had some original 4711 on her handkerchief. It always gave me a headache.
Aw!
Evodia fruit?

Thanks!
I have to say, it sounds pretty good to me! Hopefully inexpensive. I often see the 4711 line in European duty free airport stores. I love to pick up the pack of “refreshing” towelettes they sell in the original cologne, they’re like little wetnaps that smell lovely and are great for traveling (and cost maybe $6 a pack?). Such a smart way to package a cologne.
Oh yes, love those towelettes! Bvlgari used to make them for the green tea scent too, but they weren’t so cheap.
I love 4711 so I’ll definitely try this. Is this their first fragrance in 200 years?
No, they’ve done quite a few.
Really? Must research this now….I’ve been under a rock, apparently.
This makes me scream, of course: the word ‘cologne’ is feminine in French so ‘nouveau cologne’ is aaaaaaaaargh!
I used to like their ‘freezing’ stick for when it was very hot (in Nice). Not sure they still make it (don’t need it in London).
Sorry Bela!
A “freezing stick” sounds lovely — it was a solid of some kind?
I bought a big cheap vat of the original 4711 and have been spraying it on my pillowcase as the weather gets warmer. Beautiful!
Is this a unisex cologne? The original seems pretty genderless to me. It also evokes memories of summers visiting grandparents in Germany.
I would assume it’s unisex, but can’t say for sure, sorry.
Yes, it was a kind of solid ‘gel’ that you were supposed to apply to your wrist. It would cool you down as it slowly evaporated.
Sorry for the delay, R.
Oh, you know we’re never in a rush around here! Thanks.
