From Stella McCartney, the 2011 version of Stella Sheer: "Each year, Stella McCartney reinvents her namesake rose-centered fragrance to create a limited-edition take on her iconic scent. In Stella Sheer, the fragility and strength of the rose is set against the dark sensuality of amber." $62 for 100 ml Eau de Toilette at Sephora.

From Kat Von D, the Saint Angeles fragrance: "This fragrance is a fresh, angelic summertime incarnation of Kat's signature scent: SAINT. A light and uplifting limited-edition perfume, it fuses notes of fresh, herbal clary sage and sparkling mirabelle plum in the top notes. A soft, luscious floral heart of almond flower blends with notes of muguet and jasmine petals. The sultry base notes include earthy cedarwood, warm vanilla, peach skin, and a sexy musk." In 10 ml Eau Fraiche roll-on, $18 at Sephora.
I’m so bored with her concept already, I mean Stella is nice, but wouldn’t it be nice to see something completely new?! That bottle sure is pretty though.
Yes! It is time.
I wish there is a way that I can collect the Stella bottles without buying the perfume. There are so many better rose scents out there. (I’m wearing Serge Lutens Rose de Nuit)
They really are pretty…this one is particularly nice.
A scent cannot be “iconic.”
Yeah?
Explain!
Purists do not like the word iconic to be used in the sense of “famous” or “readily recognized”, etc, and it is true that it is not the precise original meaning of the word, and it is also true that it is overused in any case. I find it handy, so I use it anyway.
It has nothing to do with being a “purist” (and the pejorative implication in the use of that word – clever).
It does have to do with using the language properly. If you’re going to distort the language to suit your purposes, then why not just use slang; or use a word that isn’t a word but it used by millions of uneducated people – like “impactful?”
It wasn’t meant as pejorative, that’s just how I see it — some people mind such things, some people don’t. I’m in the latter group, but can perfectly well understand why some people are in the first group. You went to the trouble of registering a new account just so that you could complain about my uneducated usage, for heaven’s sakes — I’d call that a purist. Either way, this is a perfume blog and I don’t think it’s worth tussling over how I use the word iconic.
Holy iconoclast Batman!
*snort*
Love the Sheer and Flower bottles.
Me too. I need to get to a store and see if I can find the Kenzo, they do such a good job with Flower flankers.
I don’t do hedione/heliotrope well but I want to like these Flower flankers! I do think they’re all beautiful to smell and especially to look at … but I don’t wear them well. sniff, sniff (that’s me crying …) :'(
Last year’s La Cologne is really nice. And I like the Essentielle too. I don’t know if I’m going after this one though….
Off topic here: has anyone tried that LE Chloe Rosebud? I’m not crazy about the original Chloe, but I am wondering if the extra rose in this version is more interesting?
I’ve actually never wanted a bottle just for the bottle but I do like original Stella, it’s my “traveling for work” scent, and that bottle in a window just might be too pretty to pass up. I wouldn’t put anything in a window that I cared about lasting so this would be fine….
A Verbena limited edition is always worth a sniff to me. I missed their secret limited edition last year.
Am I the only one interested in the Kat Von D? It’s already so unbearably hot here in North Carolina that “light”, “fresh” and “herbal” sound mighty appealing and, since there’s no Sephora near me, $18 isn’t much of a risk, even unsniffed. As for “uplifting”, if I apply it to my face, do you think it will help with my wrinkles?;-)
No, I wanna try it too. Fresh and herbal is a nice change of pace sometimes, especially this time of year.
I don’t see clary sage much in mainstream – would be worth a sniff.
A lighter version of L’Occitane’s iconic Verveine may be just the thing… the original has a bit too much of that lemon verbena sharpness for me.
Well, that iconic Verveine is really nice because I really do like verbena. And the iconic Stella appeals to many a rose fan….I think I prefer Rose de Nuit in the iconic bell jar…
🙂
you communicate wonderfully Robin and that is , after all , the foremost purpose of language. 🙂
And you guys are very sweet.
Dig it. 🙂
Nice bottle from Stella McCartney and ugly one from Hugo Boss, although the fragrance sounds good.
The Hugo Boss notes sound dreadful. And the bottle is super ugly.
