To be honest, I find this line strangely overpriced.
Many people do…I think they’re reasonable for what they’re doing.
The SIP line much less attractive to me when houses like Honore des Pres retail for less than $100, are also composed by a trained ‘nose’ and natural (or ‘botanical’ if you prefer)…
And to boot, Honore des Pres is very active with promoting their brand through samples, while SIP does not. (that I’m aware of…)
I guess I’m not their ideal customer either, as I couldn’t care less whether a fragrance is all natural or not. Just as long as the fragrance makes me happy!
Ah, it is true, they are doing totally different things. HdP is working within the fragrance industry, using a hired nose and materials from the large fragrance & flavor companies. SiP is an indie brand, they are distilling many of their own materials (not cheap to do on a small scale).
I don’t much care if a fragrance is natural either, nor do I care if it’s indie, I just appreciate both approaches.
I hear so often that the SIP fragrances are excellent — unexpected combinations of beautiful things.
However, 22karat gold engraving is probably not the way to endear a company to me.
Nor me, but since these don’t cost much more than her “regular” EdPs, it doesn’t look like you pay a premium for it.
I, for one, think this is fantastic news! SIP is one of my favorite lines, as I find their scents just feel like me and speak to me more than most other lines on the whole. Not that I enjoy the high prices, but I do feel they are probably warranted by the quality of the scents and that it is a very small, independent brand (though 22k gold etching is a bit unneeded, as I’d rather have the price go down some than that feature on the bottle).
I live near Venice beach, and I’ve been meaning to go into this store. Maybe what’s held me back is that I’ll fall in love with a 200$+ bottle! The scents sounds really interesting.
