Rochas has launched Muse de Rochas, a new fresh floriental fragrance for women. Muse de Rochas is a tribute to creation inspired by a muse.
Muse de Rochas was developed by perfumer Jean-Michel Duriez; the notes feature bergamot, orange extract, banana leaves, mango, peach, narcissus, orange blossom, cinnamon, styrax, Ambrarome, sandalwood, vanilla and white musk.
Rochas Muse de Rochas is available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum. (via parfum-femme.prime-beaute, elcorteingles.es)
I hope this sells. I like Rochas as a perfume house, and I read somewhere that they may not be doing too well.
Would be nice if it’s good too, of course…
I don’t know anything about it, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they weren’t doing well.
Might have to smell just for the name.
But “fresh floriental?” I don’t even know what that means. And the mango gives me pause. I doubt I’ll even see it until it hits the discounters anyway.
I never see Rochas scents anywhere.
See if this link works for “fresh floriental”:

Oh, and do note, that’s the 1st of 14 pages.
Because I am a sucker for lists, I actually went and checked out all 160 fragrances, only four of which I’ve smelled: EA 5th Ave, SL Clair de Musc (surely, surely miscategorized?), TF Black Orchid Voile de Fleur (a favorite), and Tresor edt, so I still have no idea what Fresh Floriental means…
I don’t know…Michael Edwards classifies them himself, by smell. So it nearly has to be right, although that doesn’t mean you can’t disagree.
Ah, Rochas – you have made some of my favorite perfumes. Vintage Femme, Eau de Rochas, Byzance, Tocade… and some neat things on the male side, too, Macassar and Globe, for instance. But then, nothing of real interest since the mid-ninties. Perhaps Duriez can break the streak. He’s very good with fruity notes, anyway. I can’t decide whether I hate the bottle or am intrigued by it – a weird play on the Femme shape.
He took over in 97 though, didn’t he? So maybe he is your problem.
Oh really? I thought he was just responsible for the Eau de Rochas flankers. I believe I’d read somewhere that they used a bunch of perfumers before 2008: Maurice Roucel, Beatrice Piquet (R.I.P), Jacques Cavallier. Those Desir ones were terrible, I can’t remember who did those – hope it wasn’t Duriez.
Oh dear, I am confusing houses/perfumers…you’re right, it was 2008, not 1997.
It saddens me to see the classic Rochas Femme bottle marred with a cap that looks like it belongs on a jar of LePage’s Mucilage.
Mucilage! I remember that. (Showing my age.)
And purple. That’s not much better.
“Mucilage de Rochas”!
That is too funny – haven’t thought about mucilage in years. Eau de Mucilage made me laugh out loud
I hope this does well – maybe it’s good. It’s hard to tell these days from notes descriptions as there is always so much else going on. I used to live the original formula for Byzance, but now I can’t get excited about the current. Tocade is nice but I hardly ever wear it. The current Femme is very hard for me. I have lots of trouble with cumin, so it’s a shame. I always like to have at least one bottle of something from the old houses.
AnnS – try Madame Rochas EDT (not the EDP) – it’s a prim aldehydic, nice for spring, and a big bottle goes for almost nothing on the online discounters. If you like Chamade, you will probably enjoy it. Plus, nice bottle!
Oh yes, thanks for reminding me, too, of Madame Rochas. I bought a bottle last spring for a song and I need to put it into my spring rotation again.
It seems that every brand is gonna launch a “girly” version of his classic perfume. As Chanel did with coco mlle (coco), Dior (Miss Dior Cherie), Guerlain (Shalimar Initial), Nina Ricci (L’air) and then Muse de Rochas (with a very similar bottle of Femme de Rochas). May be it’s gonna work, I’m intrigued by the banana leaves ^^
I do notice that several of the Rochas bottles pay some sort of homage to the Femme bottle – go look at Poupee’ sometime! and the Tocade and Tocadilly bottles are an elongated version, with funky tops. (I’m fond of Tocade, but that cap is awful.)
You’re Right, I’ve never heard about Poupée!?? The bottles arve very close. I already saw the Tocade bottle….It’s uggly ^^’
I know Eau d Rochas is best seller in Spain, they even did a commercial with spanish popular actresses that i asume it was only shown here.
I’m quite fond Of the Eau de Rochas pour homme, it was One Of my first purchases, I was around sixteen..
Sorry to say this bottle looks cheap, but not with charm as a Tocade, just boring cheap
The cap reminds me a little some of the awful hats Whoopi Goldberg wore on Star Trek The Next Generation. Why did they have to cover up her dreadlocks?
Oh, so true!
In the 1960’s and early 1970’s Rochas was the biggest prestige cosmetics brand in France. They even used to make makeup and skincare. Where are they now?
Though not my favorite Rochas, I remember that the first Lumière (1984) was particulary original.
