Xerjoff has launched 1861, a new fragrance celebrating the 150th anniversary of Italy's unification.
Bright citrus notes begin the olfactory journey with lime, mandarin & bergamot representing the sunny Calabria region of Southern Italy. Fresh green middle notes of Lily of the valley and herbal mint capture the unmistakable fresh breeze of Sardinia leading to a base of Cedar, amber and musk which round out the entire composition, creating a warmth that is only felt in the beautiful Italian countryside.
Additional notes include petitgrain, rose and patchouli.
Xerjoff 1861 is available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum, $250. (via press release)
Substantial price decrease!
I have to go look up the prices…this is still not cheap!
As soon as I saw the name of the company…I immediately blew off this fragrance. With their exorbitant prices, I really have no desire to even try the brand. I’m not scared to spend on a bottle of good juice. I just think it’s a shame that $250 for 100ml from this company made me say, “Oh wow, that is a low price!”
I really like the one Angie likes, the Iris. But I won’t spend that much on anything.
Does it come with the sculpture pedestal?
‘Cause that would be sort of awesome.
Not at that price, I guess.
Yeah, I’m guessing not.
LOL that was my question when I saw the picture, knowing Xerjoff.
Of course I’ll have to try it. Then complain miserably about the price… So far the only Xerjoff that has struck me as bottle-worthy is Verona…and that’s still mongo-spendy!
“Xerjoff has launched 1861, a new fragrance celebrating the 150th anniversary of Italy’s unification.”
Missoni already did that concept! Only they had hazelnut chocolate in it! And less gravitas!
And shouldn’t it at least include that wet stone smell from Venice?
We are talking about celebrating the unification…
According to a New Yorker article, the grumblings in Italy to disunify the country (which persisted since unification) have grown louder. The cultural and economic divide between the North and South has always been strong. Plus Italy is a country where every town insists that its own pignoli cookie. own pasta dough etc. is unique.
The sculpture looks like Eau du Soir cap. Very stylish and classy.
OMG that sculpture thingie (bottle top? bottle? bottle protectorate? wth is it?) is CRACKING ME UP. I keep looking at it and laughing. Haven’t been able to stop long enough to read the notes. It’s just so, so, I dunno. Somewhere between Thor in the Wind, and an avenging angel. Having read the recent New Yorker piece on Italy’s profound ambivalence about celebrating their 150th, and being unified at all, it makes me laugh even more.
I mean, where is he going to? The Future? Is he Facing Down the Winds of Change? OK, I’ll stop now.
LOL! I wondered what it was in aid of, but not has much as you did.
The features are quite teutonic!
Aren’t they? He could be Beethoven without his wig!
I want to test this b/c it sounds nice and cologne-y, but I’ve not met a Xerjoff yet that would induce me to spend that much money. Richwood and Elle are nice, but I don’t smell a $250 accord in there.
Okay, I officially crossed a line somewhere when I bought Carnal Flower. $250 is a price I have paid more than once for 100 ml – it is when it is that much for 50 ml I start to cringe. I wonder which fragrance will make me step over THAT line?? Gack. (have a feeling it might be puredistance Antonia)
Carnal Flower has pushed so many of us over the line!!! and did you see that they’ve raised the price on it? now the 100ml is $320 ….guess they thought they could squeeze a bit more out of us.
I forgot to mention: they’re Bastards!
