Giorgio Armani launches Armani Code Sport this month. The new fragrance for men is a flanker to 2004's Armani Code (originally Black Code), and promises "freshness, excitement, adrenaline and seduction".
The notes for the aromatic woody citrus include lemon, mandarin, three kinds of mint (wild mint, peppermint, spearmint), ambergris (ambrox, reportedly in high concentration), ginger and vetiver.
Giorgio Armani Armani Code Sport is available in 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Toilette. (via diarydirectory, marionnaud.fr, garden.co.uk)
Armani Code was always positioned as dark and sultry and seductive and mysterious. Why on earth would you create a Lemon Pledge version of it?? Le sigh.
To sell more 😉
Don’t forget the THREE KINDS OF MINT!! 😉
I agree, eminere. This sounds incredibly BORING. When will companies stop with all the ‘sport’ flankers? You can’t tell one from the other; they’re all bland, fresh, and personality-free. Never forked over any of my hard-earned cash for that nonsense. What’s next? “Turbo Fresh Frozen Icewater Mountain Air Ocean Deep Blue Sky”? Ugh.
They will not stop.
I think it just points to the lack of creativity in the industry, and the desire to leverage off of already spent advertising/marketing dollars. I can’t imagine Leonardo Da Vinci painting “Mona Lisa – Summer Edition” or Bethoven writing “Monligh Concerto – Fall.”
LOL at Mona Lisa — Summer Edition…that’s hysterical.
Although Monet did paint about ten billion versions of water lilies. Hehe.
The only novel thing about this is the oh-so-cutting-edge tatoo on the female mode.
She is Megan Fox, and I was sort of surprised they left that in…does look cool though.
Does anyone know why they dropped the “Black” from the name? My boyfriend used to be into Black Code, although he doesn’t really wear fragrance now (except for the Demeter “Mahogany” I got him for his birthday – which he loves! Haha). The women’s version smells way too licorice-y for me, but the men’s wasn’t bad as far as mainstream offerings go.
They took a lot of flak for the name Black Code:

Oh, wow. Guess I need to brush up on my US History! Obviously familiar with Jim Crow but didn’t know the 19th c. laws were referred to as such. Thanks Robin.
I didn’t either until some grade school classes here started writing letters to Mr. Giorgio Armani complaining about the name! It was quite a stink.
If they had just had two kinds of mint the Doublemint Twins could have done the advertisment (“It’s TWO mints in one”)…now we’ll have to search for some Triplemint Triplets, I ‘spose.
Armani has ran away from the Black title (Armani Black Code to Armani Code) but has fallen in the sport cliche!! Armani, you had a little bit good taste and class…
Ok, mr Armani, please write on the blackboard “I will not clone Clinique Happy For Men again” 200 times.
Thank you! 🙂
p.s.: I tried it yesterday at an upscale shopping mall here in Bs.As.
LOL!
