I know LT hated Amazing Grace (it was only included in the revised paperback edition of The Guide) but I like it. I don’t wear it much anymore because my tastes have changed as I’ve become more interested in perfume, but to me it is the OG of “clean” fragrances. People love it. I received compliments every time I wore it which was often. I haven’t liked any of the flankers as much as the original except maybe Inner Grace which had something to do with Christopher Reeve’s wife/charity (and which LT gives three stars). I will certainly give this sniff this if I manage to get across town to Nordstrom some time this summer.
I agree! I wore Amazing Grace as my ‘signature’ scent for years before becoming a perfumista. It’s clean, light and pretty. I also like several others from Philosophy like Pure Grace and Falling in Love, and their short-lived ‘Philosophy’ scent that was a bit more citrus and a lot more unisex than the Grace line. I recently purchased their ‘Flowers’ scent unsniffed and it’s ok. LOVED the shower gel, but the perfume is different and not as outdoor fresh as the shower gel.
Philosophy does what they do very well — I can see why people love them, particularly Amazing Grace, but they’re not what most perfumistas are after, you know? That said, I have plenty of favorites that aren’t what most perfumistas are after.
I actually like several of the Grace scents – I find them to be great comfort scents, not too demanding and very office-friendly. and affordable, which is also a plus! I’ll be trying this one soon.
They’ve really kept the prices reasonable, which seems smart.
I’ve always like Amazing Grace lotions and such – never had the perfume, and never really explored any of the others. A warm floral sounds nice.
And I never tried the body products for Amazing Grace. I have tried some of the fun shower gels though!
