Niche line Keiko Mecheri has launched two new floral fragrances, Tuberose and Isles Lointaines:
Tuberose (shown) ~ "Radiant, translucent tuberose is blended with a crystalline jasmine for a very modern take on the white floral. This does not read as heavy or creamy, but as cool and transporting and edgy..." Featuring tuberose, jasmine, rose, petitgrain, vanilla, benzoin and precious woods.
Isles Lointaines ~ "This brazenly flirtatious potion features an incredibly lush gardenia double-whammy by blending traditional gardenia with tiare, also known as Tahitian gardenia, and the result is every bit as seductive and gorgeous as you would expect." With sweet almond, gardenia, tuberose, jasmine, rose, vanilla and benzoin.
Keiko Mecheri Tuberose and Isles Lointaines are $125 each for 75 ml Eau de Parfum, and can be found now at Luckyscent. (via luckyscent)
Would like to smell the tuberose to get a better idea of the note. Fracas is a bit harsh to me, while I like Daphne. The idea of a radiant translucent version is interesting as The tuberose note seems, in general, quite rubbery, fleshy and opaque?
Call your local florist and see if they can get you a bunch of fresh tuberose…it’s really the best way to get an idea of what they smell like.
Yeah, my botanical knowledge is a little, umm, missing…
I just ordered the entire Keiko Mecheri sampler collection. I can’t wait to try them. I hope these two are in there. I really liked Michael kors Michael for awhile.
Oh, that sounds like fun! I need to smell the last 4 myself.
those Keiko Mecheri sample sets a great deal — the price is reasonable, they come with a pretty booklet listing notes, they always throw in a few extras, and the samples are very generous spray vials.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they sold a greater volume of perfume by way of sample vials than they do in the extremely expensive full bottles!
LOL…you have to wonder! I do wish they’d switch to smaller bottles. 75 ml is too much for me.
What do people think are the best Keiko Mecheri perfumes? No idea where to start…
I’d like to hear some opinions about that too. The only KMs I’ve tried are Loukhoum, Loukhoum Poudree (if that is the proper name? – didn’t love either), and Cuir Cordoba (really liked that one but it lasted about a minute and a half on skin).
I’ve only tried a few. So far I really like Ume, an unusual fruit-floral, and Genie des Bois, a sweetly woodsy violet.
Cuir Cordoba is pretty but I agree, it disappears right away. Out of my sample set, I like Mogador the best — it’s a very very pretty sweet dark rose. Iris Pourpre is a nice iris if you like your iris sweet and a little fruity, which I don’t; it smells expensive and well-made, though. Passiflora is nice, a tart crisp fruit for summer, but again it doesn’t last or have that much presence. The Datura Blanche smells like datura marzipan to me — that stuff is WAY too sweet.
IME the KM florals are sweet and girly-dainty, the fruits are tart and refreshing, and none of them have enough Oomph unless they’re built around a really deep central note like iris or that jammy rose in Mogador.
Tuberose blended with jasmine will be an extremely high-note faminine fragrance, even not preferred by many young and middle aged ladies with Arabic and Asiain origin (where both fragrances thrive). A small sprinkle goes a long way, if the fragrance is actually what they claim., and best in extremely sunny days, or humid environment.
A Cautionary Tale: I ordered the sample vial ofd Isle Lointaines and LOVED it, sweet and creamy when dabbed on. So I ordered the full bottle and alas, it was completely different when atomized. The gardenia and jasmine exploded on my skin, followed by an unpleasant throat-closure – I’m allergic to jasmines. The base notes I had loved in the sample vial were downright cloying in the FB.
Try a full atomized tester before deciding to buy!
Easy fix: decant some into another container, and dab it on just as you did with the sample vial.
(Been there, many times)
Great advice. I’ll have to try that. Just don’t tell my husband how much I paid for it…
Love it! Love it! Love it! as Molly Shannon used to say on SNL. Seriously, I don’t usually like Gardenia and am not always a fan of straight tuberose. Tiare is better for me, but the blending is exceptional. I’ve even worn this and gotten a headache (from something else) which usually means I scrub off anything I’m wearing. This is so pleasant and lovely that I kept it on. After hours the bottom notes are a bit powdery but still in a good way. Anyone who likes white florals is likely to enjoy this. I am making it another ‘go to’ fragrance. Total Keeper!
