Happy Holidays to all of you!!!
Hugs, Heidi
Merry Christmas Robin! Thanks for all you do!
Joy, Lisa
Have a wonderful time this Christmas, R! π
Happy, happy, happy (and beautifully scented) days to you all! I’ll miss you perfume peeps!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone here on NST!
Have a wonderful holiday, Robin.
Wishing everyone a healthy, joyous holiday season.
May 2011 be a magical year for all!
Happy holidays, and hope you all get the perfumes you’ve been wanting!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL
GOD BLESS US , EVERY ONE. π
Wishing all at NST a happy, bright and joyous holiday filled with old favourite scents and new exciting ones!
Bright blessings,
Meredith
Have a lovely Christmas, everyone! And thank you, Robin.
Happy holidays and a wonderful Christmas to all of you! Thank you Robin and the other reviewers!
I want the Like button on this blog. π Agreeing with everyone here. Merry Christmas, Robin, and all fellow perfume lovers out there!
Which brings me to a question – what’s the masculine of perfumista? Perfumisto??? Never heard that one before!
Karin, I want a “like” button, too! My understanding is that “Perfumista” is appropriate for both sexes. Think “barista” and “Sandanista”.
I use it that way. I know some men use perfumeo, but that word sounds really ugly to me for some reason.
It sounds like perfume+gigalo. Eww. I’m with ya.
Ahhhh…of course! Thanks for clearing it up, Haunani!
Do you mean a like button that’s connected to facebook? I was thinking of adding one, although I think it’s unfair there’s no “hate” button.
Or are you just sort of joshing?
I meant a Like button that we can click when someone posts a reply that we like…on this blog, not on FB.
Gotcha. There is probably a way to do that, I’ll see.
That’s what I meant, too. It might also keep the discussion threads a bit more manageable (is “wieldy” a word, LOL?), because sometimes we add comments just to “second” a suggestion or strongly agree with someone else’s comment.
The New York Times has a “Recommend” button. Maybe we just need a “Second That!” button π
That would work well! π
and an ‘I Go and Find my Sample and Apply in a Second’ button π
Yes – absolutely essential! π
Ha!
Happy Holidays to everyone here at NST! It’s one of my favourite places to hang out. Thank you for that. Joy and peace to you all. π
Happy Holidays to everyone here. You make this the best of websites!
Merry Christ and a Happy New Year to everyone!
Can’t wait to see everyone’s damage talley….
Don’t say that OperaFan! I’m hoping Robin will forget to do the damage poll.
Okay… Now I’m really curious!
egad, no kidding….some things are best left all murky and unspoken…
Yeah, no kidding. It was a bad quarter for me. And by bad I mean good, except not at all for my bank account.
Yep!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone!
I hope you enjoy these days and have some rest, if possible π
Happy Holidays everyone.
Thanks everyone! I am not going to post again in the next couple days, but anyone who gets perfume for Christmas, do come back and tell us what you got…
I’m glad you said this Robin, because when I saw all the comments already piling up, i was secretly hoping that your rogue readers were turing it into a “lazy Friday” free-for-all! π
I’m hoping that if anyone gets bored over the long weekend, in between festivities, they’ll come back here and use it as an open poll.
Hey, I’ll drop by! Right now things are hectic – I JUST NOW finished shopping, at 3:30 pm 12/23, and have wrapped about 10% of it. Eek, gotta get on the ball. But by Sunday, I’ll be ready to chat again.
NaNoWriMo in Nov. plays merry heck with my holiday schedule.
Mals, not bad at all! Good job!
I’ve always though November was a terrible choice for that. Why not the doldrums of winter…say, February or March?! There’s NOTHING else to do/look forward to then.
Er, *thought*. I hate when I notice a typo just after hitting “post comment”.
Last year the “happy holidays” post did turn into an open thread eventually…
I know I’ll be stopping by…..envision this: 61-inch screen, with screen-in-screen capability, numerous bags of chips, and a man with a remote control …..yeah….I’ll be spending some quality time with my computer…in here….away from the variety of sports playing in some hellish loop in the other room…..
Don’t know why this occurred to me, but I’m suddenly wondering why the Mandom ad did not include sports along with the other masculine pillars of swanky nightclub, fast car, cigar, guns, horses and cologne overdose – is it an either/or thing? Maybe it’s better that you got a sports guy? Anyhoo, we’ll be glad to see you here, Daisy!
I think the variety of “manly pursuits” in the Mandom splash-mercial were geared toward Charles Bronson’s movie personas…which tended toward men with guns ; he always seemed to play gunslingers or cops. At least that’s all I’ve seen, I was pretty tiny in his heyday…but I do have that manly-movie-luvvin husband, so I’ve seen bits of these movies as I scurry thru the room in an attempt to get to a part of the house not inundated in the dulcet tones of gunfire & car crashes , gunfire & Indian attacks or gunfire & invading french coastline…sigh.
LOL – it really must sound different to male ears!
like music… π
Merry Christmas to all of you! Have a wonderful time!
Happy Holidays, everyone. Hope you all have a lovely time and may all your fragrant (and other) wishes come true!
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you and your family, too, R!
Hugsand love!
Happy Holidays and greetings from snowy Cologne! Life very rarely takes a break from its usual madness, so enjoy the peace!
Sending fragrant, festive good wishes to everyone here on NST. Have a happy and peaceful break, one and all.
Happy Holidays!
I’ve already received JHAG Citizen Queen in the purse bullet, and if I acquire any other smelly goods under the tree, I’ll report back with glee!
π
Hey, I got this one for my daughter! I’ll report back on her verdict.
Nina, I can’t wait to hear what she thinks of it! Please do share π
Cool! This is my favourite of the whole JHAG collection. And one day…
M: at first I liked this one the least, but now I like it best; I’ve been wearing it since Monday, which (for me) is an INSANELY long time!
Merry Christmas everyone!
Happy Holidays to all!
Now off to the mall π
P
Merry Christmas to you all
Happy Holidays to everyone at NST and here’s to a wonderful (and fragrant!) 2011.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! xoxo
Happy holidays everyone & best wishes in the New Year! I hope for all that 2011 be another wonderfully smelly year! Thanks Robin, Angela, Erin, Kevin, Allyssa, et. al. for another excellent and fun year of reading and sharing.
Happy holidays to everyone! I hope you all have a very smelly vacation. π I fear that I may not get any perfume for xmas. I have carefully monitored all of the boxes that come through here, and not a one looks like it’s from Luckyscent or Aedes. I guess it will just give me an excuse to do some New Year’s buying. (And I’ll have to add in two extra “I feel sorry for myself” bottles for working both Christmas and New Year’s.)
NONE? no Luckyscent? no Aedes? didn’t you leave a wish list out for Bekah to find????
Sounds like an Apres-Christmas shopping spree is in order…and yes, 2 extras for sacrificing your holidays that others might stay home!
so…..what bottles have caught your eye?
I’m embarrassed to say that I can’t remember what’s on my wishlist! I know that I at least wanted: L’Ame Soeur (of course), L’A Poivre Piquant, SSS Bois de Champagne and Lieu de Reves, Futur, BK Cruel Intentions, Bois Blonde, and… ? I know there were others.
Thanks to Daisy, L’Aime Souer is on my wishlist!
The Great Enabler strikes again!
Oh, and yes, Daisy, I left a wishlist. a very DETAILED wishlist. Well, keep your fingers crossed for me… maybe tomorrow morning will prove me wrong and there will be perfume for me!
I feel sorry for you too Miss Kitty, and you totally deserve both cheer-up bottles
Thanks for backing me up! π
Robin, thank you so much for tour blog!
I wish you and evereyone here at NST a very happy Christmas and a happy new year!
Not only happy, but also deliciously fragrant, of course! (These holidays I’ll be rocking Shalimar, Shaal Nuur, Attrape coeur, and possibly n.5…)
Happy Holidays, Robin and all NSTers!
Hope you are all reveling in your favorite holiday fragrances. It seems CdG Avignon has turned out to be my holiday scent of choice this year. π
Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas, everyone.
I don’t plan to get perfume for Christmas, but I’m pretty happy with all the decants and bottles I brought with me to get me through my trip back east.
Oh, Joe, if you check back, do let us know what you brought to help survive the East Coast cold and possible snow – and Happy Holidays!
I think this is my first Christmas on NST
Merry Christmas everyone π
many happy return Owen : D
Merry Christmas, Owen! Glad you’re with us. π
Merry Christmas to all our lovely hosts here at NST, and to everyone else as well (you, too, lurkers – we don’t bite, come in and say hi sometime!).
I know I have decants under the tree (squee!), so I’ll come tell you about them later…
I’d like to announce that for the first time in my adult life —ALL my shopping is done(last weekend) !
AND… ALL my wrapping is done as well!! and it’s only the 23rd!!! I must be forgetting something….this is unprecedented!
I’m giddy from this sense of freedom!!! π
Good for you, Miss Daisy! My shopping has been done for a few weeks, but the wrapping…. not so much. π
Congratulations!
The CEO prefers to wrap presents he buys – even if they’re not for me. Of course, he also cleans house, and does laundry, besides doing his full time job… (ducking now)
Holy Cow! where do I get one of those???
: D
Daisy, those men are as scarce as pristine bottles of vintage Mitouko extrait for $2.00 at Goodwill/flea market/yard sale.
hahahaha you got that right Rapple!
I’ll have to make do with my sweetie—he may never wash a dish, and the Maytag scares him….BUT he will drop everything to rub my shoulders anytime I plop myself down in front of him and utter this one simple phrase: “rub me” …works like magic: back rubs on demand. π
Daisy – he’s a $2.00 bottle of vintage Vol de Nuit! AND… he cheers for U. K. for me! π
Can you clone him and send him over?
Merry Christmas everyone! I very much doubt that I’m getting any perfume for Christmas, but that’s OK–the only thing on my wish list right now is Champagne de Bois, and that can’t be bought right now anyway. I hope everyone else either gets what they want or finds a really good sale in January.
‘Roses, word on the ‘street’ is that the cart will be back up early in the new year, so we can get our CdB fix soon!
**fingers crossed**
Happy Holidays Everyone! Thank you for a great year. Reading NST is the sanity anchor I look forward to every day.
Merry Christmas to all! I’m hoping for a sunny, warm Christmas with a lazy day relaxing by my pool sipping cocktails! I can always dream I guess!
Y’all are getting me in the merry mood – I decided to break out the Nuit de NoΓ«l just to read this! Wishing you Happy and Great Scent Memory Inducing Holidays!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone here @ NST!!
I’ve decided to wear No 5 Eau Premiere as my scent over the Christmas weekend. I want to poll non-scent addicts on what they smell in its composition. Sneaky much?! π
I’ve only JUST discovered EP this week, after hearing about it for ages. Now I have a sample and it’s astonishing – so easy to wear and so beautiful. I smell a bottle in my future. Have fun wearing it this weekend! Happy holidays!
Look on the evilbay when you decide to go for it – I got mine for about half-price.
Merry Christmas everyone! I enjoy this blog so much and getting to meet with you almost daily! Everyone please be safe!
Merry Christmas Robin! Hope its great!
Happy Holidays, everyone!!
Happy Christmahanukkwanzaakah!
I don’t think I am getting any perfume. except form Buster. He hasn’t had time to go shopping yet, though. Plus it’s been raining and you know cats don’t like to go downtown in that stuff.
LOL, Buster still has time! He’s probably waiting for the post-holiday sales π
Buster has a very full schedule , what with being The King and all. Perhaps you should make it easier for him by putting your desired bottles in a cart online and then all he needs to do is press the checkout button.
Pierce and Andrew don’t like the perfume departments – they were traumatized as kittens when an SA indiscriminately sprayed them with Brittany Spears.
However, they *did* buy me some beautiful silver bangles and two-toned gold and silver earrings!
I hope Buster has a PayPaws account!
ROTFL!! π
LOL!!! (that’s a good one!)
PayPaws– love it! Maybe that’s where all my money is going. My cats are spending it…
extra cat toys laying about , that you don’t recognize?
Everything in my house is a cat toy, or at least the cats think so!
with potted plants at the top of the list…which is why I don’t have any plants anymore!
Hahahahaha!!!!
joining in with thanks to Robin, the whole NST team and all NST-fans out there for your insights, ideas, good humour,- it’s a little haven in the hectic daily schedule. Wishing you all peaceful time/holidays and a happy new year. Bee
Merry Christmas dear Robin et al, and thanks for making my life more beautiful and fragrant.
Bea
Merry Christmas everyone…Im going to wear Bois des Iles, by Chanel, today <3
To all my beloved perfume friends online- Merry Christmas!
I discovered you all and have been a happier person since.
I have never felt more loved or special than when I found other perfume loving folks, I’m so happy and grateful to you all who have touched my life, in any way great or small, just know it has mattered to me very much! I love you guys<3 Muuuah -you all smell wonderful! π
Thanks, Tamara! I was reading the most heart-warming article about the community of of Llanarmon-yn-lal in Wales banding together to rescue their pub, the Raven Inn, by donating their time and skills to keep it open. When the government closed their post office, they also got a license to operate a postal service at the Raven Inn two hours a week! This made me think about how the perfume blog and split community is like our internet-based neighborhood pub.
It’s always great to see you here, Tamara – muaah, muaah!
hey Noz! loved that article —this place is like our Raven Inn….the Robin Inn…..
Exactly – there is a lovely Caron urn of Alpona behind the bar, teas scented with spices and flowers, cocktails that smell like perfume (I love the Violettini Precieuse, myself), the best and most innovative pub food ever, a Cire Trudon and luxurious hand cremes and soaps in the loo, and a host of fragrant, funny and wise regulars sharing samples! π
ooooo a place like that and I’d never go home!
love you too Tamara, so happy you are with us : )
<3 back atcha, T.
Love ya, baby! π
Happy holidays and Merry Christmas to you dear Robin π
May all your samples not work on your skin when your bank account gets low…
May all your expensive, unsniffed purchases turn into almost signature scents…
May you make new, decanting friends throughout the world who have access to limited edition releases unavailable in your country…
May your tastes broaden in the new year, leading to the discovery of new scents and appreciation of notes you once couldn’t wear…
May the scents of next year bring you excitement, comfort, wonder and joy, and serve as a reminder of this world’s startling beauty…
May you appreciate the hunt for the new scents, but also enjoy the old…
May you grow to learn what you love and feel confident in your tastes amid the tsunami of new releases…
And, may next year on this blog bring us much wisdom, laughter and friendship
π
Dominika, thanks for this wise and lovely Christmas greeting! I can only think of one thing to add, viz., may you transmit the gift of perfume appreciation to at least one friend, family member, spouse, partner, coworker or random passerby who realizes that he/she MUST ask you what is that FABULOUS perfume you are wearing! π
Amen, Sistah!
I love it! Thanks for posting that. π
I love it! Thanks for posting that. π
Twins?!?
it deserved to be said twice. π
Definitely the best and most relevant greeting card I have read this year : )
Holy Fragrance, this was awesome : D
thanks Dominika : D
Dominika, that was great! I especially love your comment about fragrances serving as “a reminder of this worldβs startling beauty.” That is so true!!!
Fantastic greeting! Thank you and back at you!
Well, nothing else can beat that now, can it? Awesome. π
Absolutely beautiful! What a wonderful post.
The perfume equivalent of World Peace.
Excellent! Thank you.
Joyful holidays to all of you tremendous folks, and thank you for all the fine writing & reviewing that fuels my scent obsessions.
Happy Holidays to everyone here at NST!
My first full year of perfumista-hood is coming to a close and I’ve learned so much from all of you! Thanks for the wonderful posts and reviews and for introducing me to scents that I never would have considered on my own.
Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays everyone! Thank you. Robin, for the fine job you do every day, and thanks to all the additional contributors for your unique points of view. This keeps me reading on a daily basis. Hope everyone reading has a fragrant surprise ahead (and comes back to write about it!).
Happy holidays to everyone!
Prada l’Eau Ambree, JHAG Midnight Oud and CdG Zagorsk seem to be the ones I reach for during these days.
I hope all your scented wishes come true!
Thank you so much for this site!
Merry Christmas from Romania!
I was such good girl : D
my Xmas present under the tree was L’Heure Bleue edp vintage : D
happyhappyjoyjoy
Very Nice! Inhale a bit for me!
i will Dixie π
Nice! Wear it with glee! π
Rufus got me ELdO Divin enfant, as my gift, couple of days ago. Clever animal! I’m not expecting any more fragrant gifts but I have a feeling he may get me chamade for new year!
Happy Holidays to all of you and your loved ones! May all your fragrant wished come true!
yay Seasons Greetings to all!
DH gave me the usual voucher which i think I’ll spend on Ode de La Vanille when I next get to Sydney.
I decanted a large number of minis and samples for my step daughter and she absolutely loved it, so i am feeling really chuffed this Christmas morn Downunder!
Queensland, our most northern state had a small cyclone (hurricane) for Christmas….how different to the white Christmases most of you are having!
Join with all in wishing a hugely fun and fragrant 2011!!
There were pictures on the Today Show this a.m. showing people on the beaches of Australia wearing antlers, taking pictures with a tree and Santa Claus, etc. It looked like fun!
Merry Christmas Eve! …..I gave myself a present tonight—My precious little 20ml bottle of MAC Naked Honey was running a bit low….found a replacement bottle on ebay $44 shipped —considerably more than I paid for the original from MAC when it first came out….but I adore that fresh, realistic linden note…this is a favorite spring scent. Of course now that I paid almost double for a bottle , MAC will probably reissue it! (and everyone will have me to thank!)
You did the right thing. I– sadly– don’t think they’ll reissue it. They don’t seem to ever reissue *anything*, those bastards. (I say that with affection. I love their makeup, just wish their LE’s wouldn’t sell out before they even hit the makeup counters.)
Naked Honey isn’t one Iv managed to find. I like Mac’s dramatic colours and sense of fun but, at least where I live, the Mac consultants are REALLY obnoxious. In fact, I so dislike the experience i just wont shop there any more at all. It may be better in their boutiques, its the Mac section in the various department stores that is awful. No loss to them they are always crowded!
They really are obnoxious. There seems to be but one nice employee at the one near me, and you know they’ll run her off eventually.
Thanks for the good perfume karma, Daisy! π
Oh I have almost done that myself a couple of times, and still might. I kind of want both of them – I get amazing compliments when I wear Africanimal.
I have to say the Afterlier Honey Blossom fills that lindeny need, but it is quite spendy.
Julia, I hope you are doing much better.
I think of you often
hugs
Same here. Hope you’re reading this. We all miss you.
Also thinking of you and Shalimar, Julia!
Christmas Hugs to you Julia! I hope you’re out there reading this and know that I think of you often. Yesterday (when I was rearranging the Pterodactyl herd ) J asked if I’d heard from you recently….we both hope that you are doing better. Hugs , hugs, more hugs. π
Also want to say that you’re in my thoughts and prayers. I hope this finds you feeling much better and enjoying the holidays.
You are missed, Julia!
Dixie, I’m seconding that sentiment.
Julia, you’ve been in my thoughts recently and I’m sending you every positive thought your way.
Julia, we all hope you are doing well. SmokeyToes and I were thinking about you not long ago. Best wishes to you.
Merry Christmas, everyone!
Best wishes to you all for happy holidays and a wonderful new year.
This blog is wonderful. Thank you!
Happy holidays and Merry Christmas, everybody!!
What scent is everyone wearing today? Oh, and Merry Christmas to all!
Merry Christmas Dixie! I got a bunch of samples for Christmas so am currently wearing SDV, Bois d’ Armenie and Oriental Brulant. I love Bois d’Armenie the best but don’t think I can just the money for a skin scent, all be it a very lovely incensey, resinous skin scent.
You must smell fantastic!
Merry Christmas!
Wearing Ava Luxe Incense because incense just seemed right today. Mr. Aparatchick is scared by the thought of trying to buy me perfume, so no perfume gift under the tree (of course, I bought myself a little something – a split of Andy Tauer’s Incense Rose).
Hope the day finds you all in good spirits!
I haven’t tried AL Incense, but LOOOVVVE Incense Rose.
Merry Christmas! Right now I’ve SSS Champagne de Bois on one hand and DSH Cimabue on the other. Both are subtle and truly lovely. How fortunate we are to have what Gaia (The Non-Blond) recently described as “the true luxury” of being able to support real perfume artists creating unique, often handmade perfumes!
I’m enjoying sniffing these outlaw perfumes.
right wrist: Portrait of a Lady,
left wrist: L’Artisan Fleur de Narcisse
down the sweater: Solange Cosmic…..
so it’s like this: SNIFF, SNIFF…FLAP, SNIFF, SNIFF…FLAP, SNIFF, SNIFF….
Do you do this in public? π
I try to restrain myself in public….luckily I’m at home with just family and they’re used to it. π
I’ll admit it: I do it in public all the time. I look around first to make sure no one’s looking, which probably isn’t as effective as I think it is.
That’s when you employ the “whew, is it hot in here or what?” flap,
probably doesn’t fool anyone either, but I do it anyhow.
I pretend that I’m “straightening” my shirt a lot at work. When I take my break at midnight and am all alone on the 4th floor of our building I just sit there with my sweater pulled up over my face. Not only do I get to smell my perfume, but I think I might also scare off anyone who wanders up there by mistake.
LOL – winter turtlenecks are limiting me to two at a time these days! π
I dab samples on the back of my hand and on my fingers, so I can sniff while I’m leaning my head on my hand. It looks almost natural π
Merry Christmas! Hope everyone is having a lovely day.
I’m wearing Coromandel today which turned out to be the perfect choice, I’m really enjoying it. Last night I really craved and wore 31 Rue Cambon so it’s shaping up to be a Chanel Christmas π
I’m also enjoying Diptyque Pomander candle right now – a truly festive mix of orange, cloves, cinnamon etc. Very potent so I can smell it even when it’s unlit. It was a little consolation present to myself after I realised that I couldn’t get a small bottle of Sycomore yet.
On top of that, I was fortunate enough to win a bottle of Le Cologne Du Maghreb in Andy Tauer’s advent giveaway which really cheered me up. So that’s my lovely fragrant surprise this Christmas.
Ooh, Coromandel was going to be my perfume of choice as well today, but after opening a little box containing ELDO Like This… it had to be that for Christmas day! Loved wearing it.
yay!!! Congrats on winning one of the coveted AT advent bottles! That is so cool~~I hope you love it! π
That Maghreb was my one fragrant gift this Christmas… but it arrived right on Christmas Eve, and I think it’s lovely. Fleeting even on me, but then again, I apply very lightly. As a cologne, it will be fabulous in the warmer weather, but bc it’s a Tauer, it has that little kick to it that makes it stand up to cold weather, too. Fantastic!
I’ll probably stash it away until the warmer weather but I had a little sniff of it and there’s a definite dose of incense among all the citrus in there so I definitely agree that you could easily wear it year round too.
I know a lot of people like to pull out warm weather scents in the middle of winter just to dream…but that never works for me. With this one, bc of the incense, I think it could work.
I wanted to wear Fragonard Cette Nuit La wich some sent as an extra in a swap. I thought it would be perfect for Christmas Day. But my samples aren’t organized well and I couldn’t find it π
So, I wore Nuits Enchantees instead by Laura Mercier. No perfume gifts were given to me, but from the outlaw sample set I bought for myself Rose of Cimarron-it’s just gorgeous!
After samples and samples of ELDO Tilda Swinton Like This… I am now the happy owner of a full bottle! I also received a beautiful set of Elemental Herbology bath oils (which I may end up wearing as perfume…)
Please share if you opened some fragrant joys today! And happy holidays to everyone!
SOTD Christmas: SSS Champagne de Bois. It was just right for family christmas π
Well, I didn’t receive any more perfume for christmas yesterday (bummer), but it was a wonderful day.
I did, however, win the Le Labo draw at Bois de Jasmin! A bottle of Poivre 23 will soon be sniffed by me. π
Fantastic!
Right?! I’m ecstatic!! π
wow! cool! I love it when someone from our group wins something!
(gotta take those little victories where you can get them, you know?)
I love it too! When I saw a few names I recognized winning Andy’s giveaway, I shared their joy π
Cool, congrats! π
Thank you Abyss! I’ll enjoy Poive while you enjoy Maghreb… π
Yay, congrats!
Thank you! And congrats to you on your Tauer win! π
SOTD yesterday was Avignon. It just seemed appropriate for a Christmas Eve service, which we end by lighting candles and singing “Silent Night”. SOTD today was DSH Cardamom and Khyphi. The warm spiciness smells so festive. Besides, it is one of the few scents my hyposmic husband can smell on me. Unfortunately, it does not last long on my scent-eating skin. I have this problem with a lot of perfumes, especially those that are all-natural or mostly-natural ingredients.
Oh, and the DH’s SOTD was Sables, which was one of my Christmas gifts to him. I do get the maple syrup note from it, but that is OK–I like maple syrup. Between his maple syrup and my spices, we must have smelled good enough to eat.
Avignon is a great choice! Today a cool front is coming through south florida so I wore Egoiste to church-I enjoyed sitting in my own cloud of spices!
It’s supposed to get down to the 30’s tonight so I’ll have to bring my orchid collection inside (I have almost as many orchids as I do perfumes)!
That must be the same cold front that came through Texas last night. It got down to 34 early this morning.
Hope everyone got what they wanted for Christmas! I didn’t get any fragrance, but that was expected. But I did get one fragrance-related book – Mandy Aftel’s Natural History of Perfume. My hubby is not a huge fan of perfume since he gets migraines often, but know how much I love it and how much I enjoy reading all the perfume blogs. I had never mentioned this before either – he found it all on his own, so I was pretty impressed!
That is super sweet!
That is impressive! My husband never picks up the hints I drop, even when applied with a heavy hand. He doesn’t realize when he is giving me hints, either. He will mention liking something or having always wanted something, and then when he gets it for Christmas, he’ll ask “Oh, how did you know I always wanted one of these?”
My smelly gift was from my housemate (and the man I would have married were he not gay) – he got me an Introduction to Perfumery set from The Perfumer’s Apprentice. I’m so excited – I think I will try to make myself a nice jasmine first. Wheeeee!!!!! Plus of course I have to go to the site to see what *else* they have….
Danger Danger
My parents are going through a bit of a rough patch, so they can’t afford many presents. Though mom did jockingly say I should just buy myself a gift and that it would be ‘from them’ in spirit… so it can’t hurt to take her advice on in awhile and do what she says π
I had to work during the holidays so I didn’t make it home for Christmas, but I’ll be there for New Year’s Eve with my present from mom in tow. It will either be Santal Blanc, which I’ve wanted for months, or Messe de Minuit, which I’ve only worn twice but really loved.
Mom is getting En Passant. Lilacs are her favorite flower and they don’t grow where she’s living now. Dad is getting Guerlain’s Vetiver, which I hope to borrow and wear while I’m home too.
Great choices all around! Have a very Happy New Year with your family.
Thanks, you too π
