Indie botanical line Roxana Illuminated Perfume has launched Cimbalom:
The fragrance has been named after the stringed instrument closely related to the hammered dulcimer. Like the exotic musical chordophone that can be found dating back to 3500 BC, melodic notes of jasmine with percussive beats of resinous amber and a flourish of citrus rind engage your senses.
Roxana chooses to craft her fine art botanical perfumes by utilizing a palette of whole essences produced by nature. Cimbalom is a rich floriental featuring Labdanum, Indonesian Patchouli, Indian Jasmine, Ginger and Orange. The fragrance contains a limited edition tincture of jasmine sambac blossoms from her woodland garden paired with three different jasmine absolutes. Generally associated with the planet Venus, jasmine also has a magical affinity with the Moon due to her watery, heavy, sweet fragrance combined with the aromatherapeutic properties of balance.
Roxana Illuminated Perfume Cimbalom is available in Parfum Extrait in a variety of sizes and formats, including solid perfume, and can be purchased at the Roxana Illuminated Perfume shop at Etsy. (via press release)
These perfumes sound so wonderful; and I love that she has solids which are rather affordable. I’ve had my eye on her perfume pendant for a long time now… might be a holiday request!
This one does sound great.
despite the fact that I really felt I should be wearing a flowing broomstick skirt and a scarf with some tassels….a few bangles…just to READ this description….it sounds quite deliciously luxurious and that rich color is very appealing….now, if y’all will excuse me….I need to go revel in my magical affinity with Venus and the Moon…. 😉
I’m always up for jasmine 🙂
Love jasmine, but could do without the orange.
And I’m the opposite. 🙂
So true, Daisy! I find myself bursting into song: “This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius. . .”
The perfume does sound wonderful, but when I first saw the title of the article, I read the name as “Cinnabon”. I guess I must be hungry!
that’s what I saw too….maybe we’re both hungry….
🙂
so nice to see a hungarian word here : )
cimbalom, i will have a patriot sniff of this : )
I love that a perfume was named after a musical instrument, very intriguing.
‘A damsel with a dulcimer
In a vision once I saw:
It was an Abyssinian maid,
And on her dulcimer she played,
Singing of Mount Abora.
Could I revive within me
Her symphony and song,
To such a deep delight ‘twould win me
That with music loud and long
I would build that dome in air,
That sunny dome! those caves of ice!
And all who heard should see them there,
And all should cry, Beware! Beware!
His flashing eyes, his floating hair!
Weave a circle round him thrice,
And close your eyes with holy dread,
For he on honey-dew hath fed
And drunk the milk of Paradise.’
from Kubla Khan
Very cool! Thanks. 🙂
Sounds lovely!
I love poetry. But having never read Kubla Khan, is that the he’s speaking of? The poem seem to change the subject from the lady playing the dulcimer to a man. The imagery is wonderful. I haven’t had enough coffee yet. Did I miss the transition?
The fragrance sounds very gypsy like.
: )
it is not the whole poem, just the second half : )
Love jasmine! Would like to try this. Would not like to have to say the name three times fast…
I think that the solid is formerly known as BB Balm, in which case, I own this from a year or so back (I think the liquid is new). I’m a big fan of jasmine but not of orange, which seems to take over on my skin. However, I find the orange in here relatively subtle, and it harmonizes beautifully with the beeswax in the solid. Yum!
If this is the same as the adorable little mini she offered as a gift at Sniffa Fall 2008, then yes it is wonderful!
Sounds lovely! Roxanna blends beautiful perfumes, and I am really getting into jasmine lately. On it goes to my ‘to try’ list. Thanks Robin.

I WANT this! I adore Roxana’s perfumes anyway. ( I would get it just for the name and I am very fond of cimbalom music too). Three different Jasmine absolutes? I am SO there!
