Niche fragrance house Memo has launched Manoa:
In the heart of Inca country lies Manoa, the City of Gold. Legend has it that El Dorado, a young man entirely covered in gold, would carry the offerings of his people aboard a diamond-studded boat once a year. He would navigate on an immaculate lake to unload these gifts on Manoa, an island formed over time by the accumulation of treasures. Manoa is the house of the sun, a living fruit that offers its nectar only to the most adventurous.
The notes include bergamot, lemon, ginger, cypress, iris, tonka bean, vanilla, opoponax and labdanum.
Memo Manoa is available in 30 or 75 ml Eau de Parfum. (via mymemo, meinduft.de)
I’ve never heard much about this company.
I got really curious about Siwa at one point… and I think there’s one inspired by Burma… Inle maybe?
I don’t think they have any US distribution.
Carlos, this is a really nice niche line, i have Siwa from this line and love it. This once sounds right up my alley. Contemplating a split on this one.
I love that niche perfumes are not for a wide audience, and I especially like that this perfume tells a story. I think it’s so much more interesting when a fragrance has a special story behind it, it makes it more unique.
Yes.
Someone at Memo has read “The Lost City of Z”.
🙂
I could swear I saw a Lazy poll for today, maybe I’m losing it…
I’ve never hear about this one at all..the note sound pleasant.
It’s posted…
Why is the model in the ad wearing Indian jewels if she’s supposed to be Incan? Guess the graphic designer didn’t get the memo that the explorers were wrong and Central/South America was not, indeed, India.
I didn’t even notice, that’s so funny!!
I also found the “Incan” model to be very pale, and have Euorpean features. And distinctly 21st century makeup. Ah well, the wiling suspension of disbelief. . .
I have a small decant of Siwa which I enjoy intermittently. I haven’t tried anything else from this range, though….
Not too sure about the notes here: citrussy and gingery with cypruss and labdanum……errrrrrrrr
I was OK with this until I hit cypress. Not for me. I smell like a hamster cage filled with pencil shavings. Cypress is in a LOT of fragrances lately. I’ll have to sit out a round, I guess.
The Incas may have had gold, but they sure didn’t have diamonds.
Agree with the Indian jewelry on the Incan girl with pale skin and european features.
It’s all ad copy fantasy anyway.
